A freelance sports journalist, Elton’s work has primarily been in combat sports such as MMA, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Grappling. He has covered Mixed Martial Arts events ranging from national promotions like the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator FC to regional Canadian events such as Full Combat Fighting League and Fighting Spirit MMA. Outside of MMA, his work in combat sports includes FILA Grappling Tournaments as well as Muay Thai and Kickboxing tournaments at the local and national level.

Aside from his independent work, Elton has been a member of the Western Gazette sports staff since 2009. His work in the capacity has run the gamut of varsity sports such as football, soccer, basketball, rugby etc. and includes nationally covered games and tournaments. He has also helmed several in-depth features for the paper and has profiled teams and athletes ranging from local varsity stars to Olympic level athletes.

Elton’s journalistic endeavours are as equally varied as his experiences and include work not only in writing, but in interviews across all forms of media, work in both audio and video production, and play-by-play commentary. He has also served as an official for several MMA events as both judge and timekeeper.
