I bleed the blue and orange. And I'm also one of the biggiest John Elway fans around (I have no factual evdience that leads to this besides the fact that my good friends and my girlfriend claim I have a "man crush" on him (I chose to believe this is a man crush in the straightest way possible). Even though I live in Glendale and also consider myself a huge Suns and Dback fan, the Broncos always come first in my book.

Diamondbacks Sign Adam LaRoche
Right now I'm hearing the deal is for only 1 year/4-5 million dollars which is a deal and a half compared to what SF offered him earlier this offseason. Great signing but it now looks Allen will have to wait.
Juuuust a bit outside: Why the SSOL Suns never won a title
I recently wrote this article for an upcoming issue of my school paper. I'm the Sports Editor, which is basically a fancy title that gives me a column to gripe about whatever I want with no added responsibility. I don't mean to throw negative vibes into this pleasantly surprising start but I worked pretty hard on this so I figured I'd post it on the site where I go to get all my Suns news. So without further ado, my top three scapegoats for why the SSOL Suns never won a title:
A.J. Hinch to succeed Bo-Mel
Hopefully he will know the best way to solve the nine-sided rubix cube that is our young hitter's offensive troubles.
KTAR's John Gambadoro reports D-Backs V.P. of Player Development, AJ Hinch, will replace Bob Melvin as manager.

Brandon's arm "red flag" nixed Webb/D-Backs deal
Concerns from multiple insurance companies about Webby's right arm caused Arizona to withdraw their three-year, $54 million dollar contract extension. When's the last time B-Webb hit the DL again?
[Expanded and FrontPaged] Ken Rosenthal reports this morning, "Concerns raised by insurance companies over Brandon Webb's arm caused the Diamondbacks to withdraw their offer of a three-year, $54 million contract extension to the right-hander last June, according to major-league sources. Webb passed a team physical, sources say, but insurance companies use a higher standard when assessing risk. Multiple companies raised concerns, creating a "red flag" for the Diamondbacks, sources say. The contract was contingent on the club securing an appropriate insurance policy for the pitcher."
This does tie in with rumblings I've heard previously regarding the reason why the deal was pulled, but is the first time I've heard specifically the insurance company were the ones who blocked it. It may or may not be meaningful - the story goes on to say "Webb, despite the insurance companies' concerns, might pitch 10 more seasons without injury, one source said." But it doesn't help my sense of foreboding this morning...
After Jay Cutler's betrayal of the Denver Broncos, I decided the most logical thing to do was to burn all my belongings with his name on it, which consisted of a jersey, a cheesy poster, and a football card. I am the young male in the yellow shorts giving the half-ass, impromptu speech, not the horrible camera man who would best be described as a combination of drunk and blind. At the end, the running and shaking camera is when a car pulled up and my three friends panicked, including the camera man, leaving me to stomp out the remaining fire. Please enjoy our lack of intelligence. Go Broncos!
D-Backs waive (but trade for and keep) Skelton
Looks like the battle for the 25th roster spot is down to Wilson, Whitesell, and Roberts.

My Diamondback season preview (For HS paper)
Howdy everybody,
I just finished this article last night for my high school paper. It took me about four hours, partially because I have the attention span of a small rodent, to complete because I like to do my research.
Since everybody knows no one reads the high school paper, I figured I'd post it her and pray someone enjoys it. So just tell me what you guys think. I really can't add anything though, as this is already a pretty huge article by the paper's standards.
Thanks for your input,
Cody (Elway4Prez)
(P.S. Some grammer and spelling may be iffy because the copy writer has had a whack at it.)

LT thought he'd look good in the blue and orange
LT2 said he would considered the Saints, Raven, and Broncos when contract talks got a little hectic with the Bolts. The man has good taste.
So why not Randy?
Piecoro breaks down the events that led to the Diamondbacks signing Jon Garland and not HOFer Randy Johnson.
Bye Bye Bates....Welcome McCoy?
ESPN's Pat Yasinskas is reporting that the Carolina Panther's quarterbacks coach, Mike McCoy, will be joining the Broncos coaching staff. Yasinskas, along with a few other sources, are saying that it will be as the offensive coordinator. Here's what Rotoworld says about the move:
McCoy is an up-and-coming coach who was a finalist for the Panthers offensive coordinator position two years ago when Dan Henning was fired. McCoy ran Carolina's passing the past two seasons, but he's going to have to work hand-in-hand with Josh McDaniels in Denver while Rick Dennison oversees the rushing attack.
I don't know much about him really so it be nice if someone could post his resume or something.
That obviously means that our once up and coming coach, Jeremy Bates, will have to find a new job. I expected his depature with the signing of McDaniels because I never thought he'd keep his job if we hired an "offensive-minded" coach (Even though I dislike when people call McDaniels that). Now I'm quite worried that Jay has lost too much confidence in this franchise as we overturn literally everything familar to him, besides his offensive buddies.
It sounds immature but I hope Bates goes to a failing franchise like the Lions because it will sting far too much if he has success with someone like the Bucs or Jets. Then again, I'd pick either one of those teams over the team-that-must-not-be-named. He just may make JaMarcus Russell a successful quarterback....okay not THAT far!
Ryan Harris named to 2008 All-Pro Team
Too bad it's just Peter King's. The SI writer chose only one Bronco this year and that lucky individual was Harris, who was very, very deserving. Here's a quote from the Peter King article:
In September, I (Peter King) stood with then Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, watching his team practice. The Denver offense was hot, and I said to Shanahan I'd heard a lot of good things about his second-year right tackle, Ryan Harris. "Nobody knows who he is yet,'' said Shanahan, "and I kind of like it that way. But he's the best [right tackle] I've had here -- quick, and you can't move him.''
Titans LT Michael Roos got the nod over phenom rookie Ryan Clady (Which I personally can't complain about). But don't worry Broncos fan we could very well see both our tackles on the real squad.

Our Free Agents
It takes no genius Bill Parcells to tell you that what we got isn't working. I always hate the fire sales, but that's what's expected to happen (At least on the defensive side of the ball.) Here's who we got coming off the books:
- QB - Patrick Ramsey
- RB - Andre Hall
- RB - Michael Pittman
- WR - Darrell Jackson
- C - Tom Nalen
- DL - Kenny Peterson
- LB - Nate Webster
I got all these from a link from Sneaky Sean. (Thanks for the solid site.) It seems a little inaccurate with a few things here and there though so if you notice I'm missing any, just inform me. It does have every free agent on the market which will help with our conversation.
I'd like to discuss our situation on the messaging board. Whether that's who we should sign, who we should cut (no we can't cut the whole defense), and who we should let walk.
I got some quick questions myself:
How much money do we have to burn?
What is the biggiest contract coming off the books?
What is our draft position?
Where are all our nine picks at?
Jeremy Bates gets a raise!
After doing my daily scan of Rotoworld I bumped into something I found quite interesting...
Broncos offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was given a raise and a contract extension after flirting with the University of Tennessee.
Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin presumably wanted Bates to run the Vols' offense and Bates was reportedly "seriously" considering it, but Denver's offer was too good. Bates also probably realized that Tennessee is far from guaranteed success in the SEC.
Kiffin's got a strong staff, but has an uphill battle for both recruits and wins against NFL-caliber players.
So the former Raider got wise and he is officially poaching our staff. Thoughts anyone?
Chris Snyder's contract extended....almost
It's official... The Diamondbacks are CLOSE to locking up Snyder for at least three more years. The deal is expected to be around $14 million but it could exceed $20 million with the fourth year option.
First up to bat.... Woody Paige
All media members love blood. It's a fact. They're animals, but then again that's what they're paid to do.
Directly following the game I thought to myself, "God the media is going to have a heyday. But I'm just not going to read anyone it. My fragile blue and orange heart can't take it."
After sleeping on it though I realized, that's their job!! And quite frankly the Broncos deserve some it, if not all of it.
So as a fan of this football club in Denver I feel like we should just read as much as we can and laugh at it. But don't buy into it! Just help me find the humor.
Making a Move
Usually the NFL trade deadline, the most boring trade deadline out of the main trio of professional sports, passes with maybe little excitement. If any trades even do occur, it's usually like a Pinball Machine from team A's rec room for Team B's towel boy.
And with week 6 fast approaching, I wondered if anyone thought we should make a move, maybe pick up a disgruntled player or two. I think we do need some help in a few areas, defensive line being the most obvious, so I would not be disappointed if we were to. I recall Guru saying that if we think were close to being a great team, we should make a move to push us over the edge.
Just post your opinion on if we should make a move, who we should go after, and who could be on the market.
Royal With Cheese (And the Case for D-Jack's Roster Spot)
I don't know if this nickname has been used yet but I'm going to beat it to death like a pinata shaped like a Raider. But I'm not here to come up with catchy monikers. I'm here to be the first one to officially announce that Mr. With Cheese has passed D-Jack on the depth chart. This drops D-Jack all the way down to the four spot do to Stokley's stranglehold on the slot position. And according to rotoworld.com, my go to fantasy website, this puts D-Jacks roster position in serious danger. (Yes I'm an advertising whore)

Anyone is welcome to join if your a serious fantasy player. It would be great if we could get three people who would be willing to join so we could fill out our league at the max. Just post a message below if you intend to join.

All Broncos Fans Fantasy League
Okay I'm a self confessed fantasy addict and I've somehow manged to get myself in two leagues two months the season even starts. But that's no where near enough for me. I was hoping to make a league with just Broncos fans and this site is the best place to advertise that. I'm looking for 10-15 committed fantasy players to join my league. And when I say committed I really do mean it. Please don't plan on joining this if your not tooling with your roster each and every week.
I plan on having my league on Yahoo, its the best site for fantasy football in my opinion, so make sure you have a Yahoo league. If You would like to join, the league ID is 124969 and the password is rclady.
-Thx
Part Time GM: Trading Diaw and Barbosa
Sometimes when I'm bored, I let my imagination grow. So to entertain myself, I got on the NBA Trade Machine and started to search far and wide for a fair trade to dump Diaw and LB. And I came across a blockbuster, and a slightly less notable, trade option.

The "Ultimate" Rankings: What Madden Thinks Of Us
I know many of you have lost countless hours of sleep just thinking about what our player's rankings will be in Madden 09, and I'm the first with the breaking news.
Here's the link for our beloved Broncos
To Be (Predicted For Success) or Not To Be
One of the oldest questions in all of sports is if it is a good thing to be predicted to prosper. Some preseason favorites thrive off it like the Celtics and Patriots (That is until they get into the Superbowl.) Others teams, like this season's Mariners, stumble and fall, or crash and burn into a fiery inferno in the M's case, with the high hopes and predictions on their shoulders. But when your critics expectations are low, like our beloved Orange and Blue, there is no pressure on you to rise to the top.(Here's what Vegas expects from us.)
A Royal Suprise
The NFL Draft has always been a holiday for me. I can't remember a time in the past 5 years that I haven't at least watched the first round. (The last two years I've watched the entire day one which was previously 3 rounds.) I was hoping to attempt to watch the entire thing "buzzer to buzzer" for the first time this year until I realized a scheduling conflict would mean I was at the bottom of the Grand Canyon on the day of the draft. I would have backed out but I had already paid the money and was already 5 weeks into my "training hikes". I like to think a little part of me died that day.
