Arrowhead Pride How do we get Chambers locked up for the future?

Since Chambers has arrived here this has been a different team, maybe it was the exit of 2.7. I am all for locking him up for a couple of years if we can, isn't next year due to be uncapped? Does this mean if we get him signed to an extension, and another team offers him more, he can walk? I am not a big stats person, but him, and Charles seem to be the ones to make this team go, I would like to see him stay. If we upgrade the o-line this season, get a new d-coordinator, this could be a dangerous team. We still need some more playmakers on defense, but I think we get the offense going, this defense as it stands could get us some key stops with a new coordinator. Todd is finding his way as a HC, I think he will do nothing but get better over time, anyways who thinks we should try to get Chambers locked up soon? Hey guys, we beat a good football team! Iam saying it now, Chambers has a big game at SD, and we make it three in a row! We will finish 7-9!! Go Chiefs!!

Arrowhead Pride Coaching staff changes in 2010?

Remember us discussing Romeo Crennel in the offseason, right after Mangini got the Browns job? Is there still that possibility in 2010? Obviously we do not have the most talent on the defensive side of the ball right now, but could a better DC cover up some of that with scheming? In the Vermiel years we had talent on the offensive side of the ball, but not at every position, the scheme made it hard for defenses to plan for us. Can the same be said on the defensive side of the ball? I have been thinking lately the Pendergast is just a stopgap until the one that Pioli wants is available, what do you all think?

Arrowhead Pride When will Goff be sat down?

It may just be me, but it seemed that when Goff went out, we got more push, and protection with Alleman in there. Goff was part of a no standing wanna be block that could of cost us the game. The real weakness in our line seems to be in the middle between Niswanger, and Goff, could be both guys though. Niswanger is also very suspect as a center. We are not quite halfway through the season, would it really hurt to shake up the middle of our o-line? Next, why in the heck is Larry get blown on fall down Johnson still there? He has no life left in him, Mr smokealot down in Miami still runs hard, he is older than LJ why won't LJ still run hard? Just a few questions fellas, soryy if this has been hashed out over, and over again.

Arrowhead Pride If the "Battleship"

If Jackie Battle continues to run, and finish runs the way he did last night should he be our number one back? In my opinion he out played LJ, yes I know LJ was in in limited action, but Battle ran much harder than LJ. One play that sticks out in my mind is when Battle, and the Texans d-lineman collided behind the line of scrimmage, Battle could have given up on the play, and not taken much abuse, but instead delivered the hit that left the lineman wondering where he was. I may be a bit biased here as I do not support, or like LJ he has bullshitted this org one too many times, all we have heard is that LJ has done what is asked of him, but I did not see that same authority he used to run with, in my book same LJ just a matter of time til it shines through. It is early, but my support is behind " The Battleship" as the number one back.

The Colts in trouble? We tried this succession plan in KC before, we all know how that went.

Arrowhead Pride Curry or OT?

I am of the opinion we should go OT in the draft, I do not think we have what we need upfront yet for Curry to make the impact an offensive tackle would make. With all the transition this team is going through at this time, whomever we select needs to make an immediate impact. The only other scenario would be for us to trade down, this has beengone over a lot, I will not include that here. My reasoning against Curry is that if we do not have the guys up front to (protect) him he will not be effective. We all know the need for help on the o-line, Sacintosh is gonna get Cassel killed. So I think we get more of an imediate impact from a tackle. PT, if you wanted to attach a poll to this it would be cool.

So much for the high hopes of Will Franklin becoming a solid receiver for the Chiefs.

Arrowhead Pride Keys to a good offense.

We need something we have been missing for three years now, a dominant o-line. Yes we need other pieces, but it all starts in the trenches, run or pass it starts there. Trent Green, not a hall of fame qb, but behind a fantastic o-line put up 4000+ three years straight, comparable to Peyton Mannings numbers. Here is the question, under the tutelage of Chan Gailey, Todd Hailey, can Bones improve enough to put up those kinds of numbers? Here is another question can Haley help Will Franklin improve the way he did Fitzgerald? If we take Crabtree, we have Bowe, he will need to improve also, but anyway Franklin is a burner, we give him time to get down the field, with Bowe, Crabtree, assuming TG stays, how would you defend that? That would open up the run game as well. It is all contingent on whether or not there is time for this to develop, so I believe the o-line has to be a major priority this off season, whether it is the draft or free agency.

Arrowhead Pride Jack Harry says.....

That he is hearing the Chiefs are very close to naming their HC, it should happen within the next 48 hours. He says, "it is looking more, and more like it is Mike Shanahan". This is freakin wierd! Were they holding off on hiring Shanahan so they could interview Haley? Why does Shanahans name keep surfacing? Right when we have an idea who the coach is gonna be, another report, or more speculation surfaces. Thoughts?

Arrowhead Pride I got some speculation for ya.

Here it is, Bill Parcells as the Chiefs next HC. He will come here for three years, here is the catch, Todd Haley will also come to KC, as the offensive coordinator, asst, HC. They will put the coach in waiting in Haley's contract, after he learns more about being the HC from the master of head coaches, he will take the team, and there is our continuity. In the three years Parcells will build a championship team for us, after all he loves to build a team, then he looks for the next challenge. Would this be an awesome scenario or what! We get a solid, tough football team, while grooming our next HC. We will get talented tough nosed players, and the FEAR OF PLAYING IN ARROWHEAD WILL RETURN!! (HOO-AAA)

Arrowhead Pride Just a few thoughts.

The Patriot way, soon to be the Chiefs way. Why is the decision on Herm taking this long? Scott Pioli worked side by side with a gambler, someone who would attack, and keep attacking no matter the score. Someone who regularly ran a 3-4 defense, or other exotic defenses, two guys on the line, just to confuse offenses. How could Herms conservative game plans even be considered? Did any of this rub off on Scott? Does Scott feel the Belichick way to be the way to get where we want, consistent contenders, always in the hunt for a championship. Conservative defense, bend do not break. Offense that relies heavily on a kicker, the mindset of punting can be a positive play. That does not seem to be all the things Scott talked about in the press conferance. So again, Bill Belichick, Herm Edwards are complete polar opposites, does Scott take this into consideration, or does Herms nice guy, not run up the score philosophy be what Scott adapts to?

Arrowhead Pride Bill Cowher

Jack Harry reported at six that Boomer Esiason was saying that Cowher would be the HC of the Chiefs in 2010. Now Boomer works with Bill, is Cowher making the comments, or is it Boomer speculating due to the fact that Cowher, and Pioli are friends. I like the idea, a proven consistent winner, but 2010 that is way to far off. If this org. is going to build from the ground up, shouldn't the process as Mr. Pioli put it start sooner rather than later? This is not more fire Herm banter from me, this is telling everyone what I heard on the local news. He said that the rumors were swirling at Arrowhead on this subject.

Arrowhead Pride Herm says 85 percent...

of the team is built, that the foundation is there. Now it is just a matter of another draft, and free agency. If 85 percent of this team is built, we are in trouble! We have needs all over the place, o-line, d-line, linebackers, new qb? The right side of our line is horrible, looked o.k. the last half of the season due to the spread, and a mobile qb. Is there ever any linebackers on the field? The team leader in tackles is a safety. I think we all agree we are we are set at db, got some solid, possibly stud corners, safeties that can decleat any receiver daring enough to catch the ball over the middle. Left tackle, he will be an all-pro in the future. We also need some more quality depth on the o-line, Waters is not getting any younger. Niswanger is he the starting center for the next ten years? We need some special teams guys that has been an extremely weak part of our team. At this point though, does it really matter what Herm says?
