I'm a Phoenix Suns fan since 2006, since I started watching random NBA Game and tought "Who the hell is that shorty over there? Damn, he's good". Well, that shorty was Steve Nash, it was love at first sight for my only NBA Team and since them I started watching games, blogging about it and now I'm here on Bright Side of The Sun to discuss about out Phoenix Suns with all the other fans.

Who would you rather have right now?
Straight question: who would you rather have right now, Diaw or Turkoglu?

Just a crazy thought
Ok, ok, ok, I know the season hasn't even started yet but I had an idea today of a very reasonable trade that might give us what we need in our front court:
How about trading Jared Dudley to the Sacramento Kings for Jason Thompson? Their salaries match and both teams would benefit from this trade. The Suns bring a guy that has the potential to become the next Stoudemire and the Kings get a so much needed defensive specialist that can knock down threes. Ok, we all love Jared, I love him too, but we have too many small forwards right now and eventually somebody is going to start complaining about minutes and stuff.
If the trade was made, we'd look like this
PG: Nash/Dragic
SG: Richardson/Childress/Janning
SF: Turkoglu/Hill
PF: Thompson/Warrick/Lawal
C: Lopez/Jones
Not bad, eh?
Lee gone, now what for the Suns?
I know what, we can offer a part of our TPE to the HEAT for Michael Beasley. He was conected to STAT trading rumors in the deadline. We can absorb his contract from the HEAT (if LeBron says tonight he's going there) and get a starting PF for free that has as much upside as Amar'e had when we drafted him. I don't believe he'll be a distraction to the team, we have nice guys like Dudley that could make him focus and with him and Warrick, we have almost as much firepower as we had with STAT, but for about 9mil less. Ok, rebounding is still going to be a problem, but for that, we can only hope a RoLo improvement and why not a Beasley improvement too? Rumors said the Clippers were trying to get him "for free", if can they try that, why can't we?
We could even offer Earl Clark or one of our 2nd round picks from last year, or a sign and trade for Amundson (he's a guy they'd want to pair with stars to do the dirty work and Bosh would be relieved to not have Lou owning him again like he did last year and the year before). So, is that a good Plan C or not?
Barbosa for David Lee?
How about that? The Suns send Barbosa to the Knicks for David Lee with a brand new contract starting at 9mil per season (about what the Suns have in free cap space after renoucing Amar'e's rights). Barbosa would be a great fit for New York since he is one of D'Antony's favorite players and Lee would be as good (if not better) than Stoudemire. This way, Channing would be the reserve Center and Warrick the reserve PF.
It's a deal that helps both teams and since we know that neither LeBron nor any other top tier free agents are going to New York (sorry Amar'e, you'll be alone there with Eddy Curry) and they'll be desperate to get more weapons to pair with STAT to not have another horrible season.
So, what's your opinion folks?
PS: sorry for the english mistakes, it's not my mother leanguage and I'm a little rusty, as you can see.
Amaré to OKC (if things keep going bad)
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj22vzl + Phoenix 1st rounder that OKC got from the Kurt Thomas trade.
If things keep going bad for the Suns (really, a win over the Nets counts nothing, tonight is the night to prove they are back to the winning ways) I'd try to make this trade if I were Steve Kerr for some reasons:
Jeff Green is a match-up problem, he can play from the 2 to 4 and would probably be the starting 3 in the next year (or this, if the Suns trade Grant Hill after sending Amare and giving up on the Season). James Harden is going to be an All Star in this league and the Suns need a 2 who can create for others, not like Jason Richardson and Barbosa who can only create for themselves. Thomas would just be a filler.
For the Thunder, Amaré is the inside scorer they need to get over the top, they'd be really scary with a combo of Amaré and Kevin Durant. Earl Clark would be a throw in because he can be very good in the future, and would probably be a poorer version of Jeff Green/Boris Diaw/Lamar Odom.
Seems fair to me, neither side is abusing the other (like Devin Harris for Farmar and Morrison, this is a slap on the face, really). What do you people think?
Suns ran over by Bobcats and lose 3rd consecutive game
The Phoenix Suns went to Charlotte yesterday and it was a fiasco. There is no other word to describe it. A team that starts the game 0-10 and allows 74 points in one half to the worst atack in the NBA deserves the gallows. The lack of will was everywhere. Grant Hill, Channing Frye and Jason Richardson played less than 18 minutes each, combining for 16 points in 5 for 17 shooting. Steve Nash didn't save himself in this one aswell, making 5 points and 5 assistences, it looks like the blow Earl Watson gave him is still hurting, because since that game, his numbers haven't show up.
To go on the Horror Show, Jared Dudley played badly again yesterday, making only 2 points in 1 for 5 shooting and Barbosa needed 14 shots to make 17 points (and it was his best match in quite a long time). To make things look worse, Goran Dragic, who was playing well yesterday, left the game with a blow on his knee, but at least it's nothing serious.
What can I say about yesterday's game? The Suns didn't come into court, it looks like they were more interested on the NFL or some sort of thing, like if it was any execuse. And to make things look worse, the next game is on TNT, against the Grizzlies, that had already wiped Suns' ass in this season.
To not tell i'm being grumpy, the game had it's positive points. Robin Lopez picked up from where he left on Atlanta, scoring 14 points and swating 3 shots. If things keep up like that, Channing Frye's starting place, since he's not hiting his 3s and is a nullity on the boards, he's going to end up in the bech. Earl Clark finally hit some shots (making 5 for 9 for 12 points) and Louis Amundson also had a good night (5 points, 7 boards and a block).
Just to finish the numbers rain, Amaré wasn't bad, making 17 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks, making his 10000 point of his carreer. But what's the good these numbers if the most important is the 125 to 99 the Suns took? Good for nothing.
If the Suns really have an oportunity to reverse this crisis, it's tomorrow: the game is on TNT (where they are in a steak of 17 losses) against a team that has been playing very good ball latelly, despite being considered a "small fish", and the game is away from home, where the Suns haven't won in centuries.
In case things don't go that well, it might be time to make some changes in the rotation, because things are not working the way they are. I'm crazy enough to say the Suns should start the next game with the following lineup: Nash, Barbosa, Hill, Stoudemire and Lopez, making Dragic, Dudley, Richardson, Frye and Amundson come of the bench, to see if things get a little better.
Yes, Dragic has played better than Leandrinho latelly, but Barbosa plays very well alongside Nash, and I think Richardson has had enough oportunities, Barbosa should get the starting job on this game, even if it's just to say they're trying some alternatives. OJ Mayo is not tall enough to make damage because of his height, and starting with the best PG in the NBA might give an injection of confidence on Barbosa. As for Lopez, he's way better than Frye on defense and nothing like a truck to take on the truck Marc Gason is. I would also put Dudley on the starting lineup, but since Hill is old and need his rithim, it might make more damage than good.
Anyway, I doubt something in these lines might happen in the next match, but if the same things keep happening, I hope some changes are made, if not, the Suns will keep beign the same Paraguay (a soccer expression, the horse that starts in front in a race and might even end in last place) Horse we are tired to see.Originally posted on PHX Suns BR on Jan 17th in Portuguese (sorry if the translation was poor, I'm trying to improve my english!)
