According to Yahoo! Sports (via the St. Paul Pioneer Press) Winfield is not happy.

I for one have to agree with Winfield.  I've been watching this situation progress (or perhaps I should say, lack of progress) to its current point.  I think it was back in May that we decided, if Winfield didn't have a new contract, that July would be time to start hitting the panic button.  Well my friends, it may be time to start panicking.

Of course...  There is some room for optimism.  Hopefully, once the situation with a certain veteran quarterback is resolved, the team will dive head first into Winfield negotiations.  I'm beginning to think that the team wants to sign Favre and get that media circus out of the way, as well as his cap numbers, and then concentrate on Winfield.  If they sign Winfield after Favre, they'll know exactly how much money they can give to him this year (and possibly next year, depending on what Favre wants to do).  One can only hope that this is the case!
