33 innings...

For some reason, I thought I'd heard of one longer than this before. If anyone knows of a longer game, please comment?

This isn't Braves related, but I found it interesting. This is the type of deal I'd like to see in place for Heyward and possibly Freeman.

Our guy is in a decent spot on the list.....not sure I'd disagree with it, either.

I think you'll notice some familiar names on the lists...

I normally only post fan shots that make me laugh. This one is no different.

Scroll down to the Kansas City Royals entry....

It made me laugh.

This is a good read, because it points out a major problem with big media coverage of MLB teams. It's nothing that most readers here don't already know, but sometimes it's nice to see others recognize the problem, as well.

Talking Chop Braves/Nats Game Attendance

I know a number of people are probably attending some of the Braves/Nats games in D.C. next weekend (9/24-9/26), so it seemed fitting that there be a post to discuss which games who is attending, which seating is the best and if/where any people want to meet up at? I live in the area and am thinking of going to one of the games. I am still undecided, as it depends on my workload the next two weeks. Also, it would be only the second Braves game I've attended in my life (first one was Braves/Orioles last season - Braves lost badly), and I've never been to Nationals Park. So, I'll start there. Where is good seating?

Talking Chop The sky is falling...

The Braves have terrible offense, terrible defense and terrible pitching. They are the worst team in the history of baseball. They won't win a game the rest of the season, and it's pure luck that they've won so many games earlier in the season. They can definitely give up on getting to the post season. No one can catch the Phillies. They can't be beat, and the Braves shouldn't bother trying. The Rockies will soon pass them in the wild card standings. Furthermore, Jason Heyward is constantly overmatched, and has no chance of winning ROY. All Omar Infante does is hit worthless singles, and he's going to lose the batting title to Carlos Gonzalez. Nate McLouth is the worst player in the history of baseball, and we'll never be able to trade his overpriced contract. Speaking of overpriced contracts, Derek Lowe is the worst pitcher to ever make $15mil/year. Wren should've never signed him or Kenshin Kawakami, who sucks and just doesn't know how to win. Wren needs to be fired, because he hasn't made a single good trade or signing since taking over as the Braves' GM. Yunel Escobar has a higher batting average than Alex Gonzalez! Rick Ankiel is somehow worse than Nate McLouth, despite the latter already being declared the worst player in the history of baseball. Derrek Lee is an over-the-hill, injury-prone "veteran", who can't hit fastballs to save his life. I can't believe Wren got rid of Javier Vazquez! He's a worse GM than Omar Minaya and Dayton Moore combined. As for other players on the team, they're all worthless, too. Troy Glaus' ML career is over. Chipper Jones isn't coming back, either. Eric Hinske can't hit. Melky Cabrera is too fat to run. Matt Diaz is worthless on defense, and worthless against RHP. Brian McCann is going to keep slumping the rest of the year, thus proving why Yadier Molina is more worthy of being the NL All-Star team's starting catcher. David Ross doesn't play enough to make any kind of difference. J.C. Boscan will never get to play. Martin Prado isn't a 3-hole hitter, and he's a defensive liability at 3B. Freddie Freeman can't get hits off ML pitchers. Brooks Conrad can't hit without the bases being loaded. Diory Hernandez has absolutely no power. Jair Jurrjens forgot how to pitch. Tommy Hanson is worn down and inconsistent. Tim Hudson is due for major regression, which is already starting. Mike Minor can't be trusted, as he's a rookie. Mike Dunn can't sustain his 0.00 ERA, and will implode soon. Craig Kimbrel walks every batter he faces. Kyle Farnsworth is the worst relief pitcher to ever touch a baseball. Peter Moylan got overused last year, and will never be the same again. Cristhian Martinez can't handle high leverage situations. Takashi Saito can't be used without a week of rest, because he's older than the Earth. Eric O'Flaherty has become way too hittable. Scott Proctor's success in the minors won't translate. Jonny Venters' arm is going to fall off in his next appearance. Billy Wagner just blows saves, in those rare situations where the Braves actually have a lead in the 9th. They're all worthless black holes in the lineup, rotation and bullpen. They should all be BENCHED! It's time to start looking ahead to the 2011 season. After firing Wren, and letting Bobby Cox retire, the new management needs to just blow the team up and start over. They can't possibly do any worse than the team that has been fielded this season.

Talking Chop Small Reason for Optimism

Jimmy Rollins was placed on the 15-day DL, effective yesterday (April 13th). Here is the article I originally found it in: Click Here

To start, no, I'm not celebrating the fact that a player got injured. However, Rollins has started off the year hot, putting up a 1.255 OPS through the first 7 games (admittedly, that's against the Natinals and the Astros). His injury simply means he will not be in the lineup when the Braves play the Phillies April 20 - 22. Anything that weakens your opponent, obviously improves your chances to win. I just thought this might provide a glimmer of hope for all the naysayers lamenting over the Braves' slow start, and tough remaining schedule this month.

And I leave you with a fitting quote.

"So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak." - Sun Tzu

Talking Chop A Farm System To Be Envied

I was reading Yahoo! Sports this morning, and I came across the following quote in a column by Jeff Passan,

" Jennings is the top prospect in a Rays system that is the envy of 29 teams."

Let's try that again, Jeff...

"Jennings is the top prospect in a Rays system that is the envy of 29 28 teams."

There, I fixed it for him...

Here is the original story, if anyone actually cares to read it. It's merely a fluff piece on Carl Crawford, though.

Talking Chop Braves 2010 Projected Lineup Ranking

I was reading new stuff on Digg this morning and I came across this: Lineup Preview

It essentially ranks all 30 MLB teams solely on projected offensive production of their lineups. The blogger ranks the Braves at 13th overall and 4th in the NL East. I realize that the biggest advantage of the team is the pitching staff, but it seems like the Braves' lineup is still getting seriously underrated. What does everyone else think?
