Maine for Hart? I'll Pass.
Hart had a great 2007 where he was worth 4.4 WAR. Since then he's had two seasons where he's been worth 0.9 and 0.7. I think Omar's best trading partner should be Kansas City, they gave actual matter for Yuniesky Betancourt. So maybe, just maybe, we could swing Maine and Francoeur (and probably a prospect) for Meche and DeJesus.

Mets interested in Meche
Not a great pitcher, but had a little bit of an unlucky season with a BABIP of .321, .24 points higher than normal. If we can get DeJesus back in this deal without giving up much, then we should absolutely do it. Meche makes $12 million in 2010 & 2011, and DeJesus makes only $4.7 million this year and $6 million next. That would be a steal. If we really want to fleece them, I'd also try and get either Kila Ka'aihue or Johnny Giavotella back as well.

2010: The Year We Make Contract (With Pedro... Again)
I love Pedro Martinez. He is one of my favorite players ever. He’s an all time great pitcher, number 4 in my eyes, has a great personality, and he is just plain fun to watch. Back in 2005 when he was signed, I, like many Mets fans, was ecstatic. We finally had a true star pitcher, who just so happened to be coming off a World Series victory. Was the contract excessive? Sure. Even after signing Beltran, were the 2005 Mets a playoff caliber team? Not at all. But none of that mattered when Pedro was on the mound. It was just a hell of a feeling watching Pedro pitch every fifth day, knowing that the Mets were going to be in every single one of those games.
Here we are now, going into the 2010 season, and once again Pedro is a free agent. Under the right circumstances, I want him back.

Henry Blanco's Getting a Physical!!!
I wonder, how valuable is it having 3 backup catchers? And the biggest question I have is, even if we sign Zaun or Navarro (assuming he becomes available), what does that mean for Thole? Thole has to be starting for Buffalo next year, and should we sign a catcher who can actually start for us next year, we'll have 5 catchers, two on the Mets, Thole and one backing him up in Buffalo, and one left over. I think if that poll was posted again, asking under what circumstances should Omar keep his job, right now we'd all vote "under no circumstances."

FanGraphs Fan Projection
Don't know if everyone has seen this yet, but FanGraphs is doing what Tango does for defense and allowing the fans to project what the players will do next year. Sign up, choose your favorite team, and then project what you think any player will do in 2010. There are ten categories for position players, eight for pitchers.
I think I was the first one to project Wright, Reyes, Beltran and Santana last night/early this morning. I'm curious to see how everyone projects our guys.

Where's the outrage?
So many sportswriters got their panties in a bunch over Keith Law leaving Carpenter off his ballot, what about Ben Zobrist on the MVP ballot? I'm glad Joe Mauer won and would have voted for him, but Zobrist was clearly the second best position player in baseball this year, yet he was left off 17 ballots and his highest vote was 6th. The top three in AL MVP should have been Mauer, Zack Greinke the Zobrist. At least the right guy won.

Is it really that tough to play in New York?
Jim B. from metsmerized thinks so. I was looking through their side chat and saw this insightful comment from the aforementioned commenter. "Joey Votto had a break down last yr after the death of his father, idk if he could handle NY" Apparently playing in New York is as hard on a player mentally as losing a person who loved and raised you from when you were born. Do these people actually understand some of the stuff they say?

Scott Moviel AFL video
I saw this on minorleagueball from poster slacker george. I didn't watch the entire thing, it's twenty minutes, but it's good stuff for anyone interest. He also has video of Evans, Stinson and a bunch of other AFL players, though those are the only two Mets I saw. Here's the link to the whole list.
Also, the videos are in HD!!!

AAOP: QRSTUVWXY and Z
I have two papers due, one of which is a final paper, two computer projects due, and two tests all this week, yet for some reason, I felt this was more important.
I had done a FanPost about two months ago and this is largely the same idea. Everything here should be feasible, there is only one trade and while it’s not the most likely to happen, it is certainly possible. I made this plan specifically to reach the $150 million dollar mark. If I can upgrade a player for a few million, why not? Most of the money projections are probably on the low end because I don’t think anyone is getting a significant raise due to the economic situation many of the teams seem to be in. Besides the Yankees signings last year, nobody got the contract they were expecting. Frankie probably would have gotten an even crazier amount any other year. That of course doesn’t explain how Ollie got 3/36, but we’re all aware of Omar’s stupidity. I also tried to base my decisions on what already happened, so the Castillo, Overbay, Bradley deal was not included, and even worse, I couldn’t non-tender Francouer. A big part of this plan is to build all around depth, in addition to a solid starting lineup. Should we have injuries like last year, we’d still be screwed, but for the most part, I have solid back ups at every position. Lastly, looking at Cot’s it says we have ~$92 million payroll before arbitration, so I guessed, with no idea at all, that after arbitration we’d have a payroll of $100 million, so I’m working with $50 million dollars.
Apologies for the length and bad jokes/sarcasm.
