Sharks Game Room
The season unfortunately ended early for our Sharks and I found myself with a lot of free time on my hands. I also recently purchased a new home thanks to horribly depressed housing markets finally making it reasonable for me to become a home owner. At last, something I can thank W for. In this new home I found that I have more rooms than I know what to do with and thought, "well, I'm done picking on dumb internet posters for the season, I need do something around the house... I know, I'll make a Sharks themed game room!" And so, as a SoCal resident, I set off on my adventure to make an oasis of teal in a land of royalty and fowl.

Huskins ankle being evaluated
Huskins took a shot off the lower leg against the Islanders and is being evaluated.
Click the link and read the story about Nichol's son, it's awesome.
Nolan off to Switzerland
Nolan still wants to plan in the NHL, but with no team giving him a tryout he needs to showcase his skills somewhere and apparently Switzerland is the lucky winner. I hope he makes it back to the NHL at some point this season.
3 Legitimate Scoring Lines
It appears McLellan is going to start the season trying the polar opposite of the HTML line strategy used last season. Instead of grouping the best talent available per line, he's going to mix and mash them around and what we end up with is:
Marleau – Couture – Heatley
McGinn – Thornton – Setoguchi
Clowe – Pavelski – Mitchell
McLaren – Nichol – McCarthy/Wingels
Mayers is still banged up from preseason and McLellan hasn't decided on McCarthy or Wingels yet.
In other news, the defense starts with Wallin on the second pairing, no captain news as of yet and no clue who's starting in goal.
Oh, and Cheechoo is on a tryout contract in Worcester.
McGinn Blog
Everyone's favorite classy player, Jamie McGinn, is blogging for the Sharks while they travel Europe.
He intends to check in every day (we'll see...), so be sure to follow his travels and infuse yourself with a bit of class along the way.
Full Roster going to Europe
Tommy Wingels, John McCarthy and Mike Moore are all going to be on the 747 headed to Germany today.
No mention of McLaren, but I assume that means he's on the flight too.
Joslin (still injured) and Ferriero are heading to Worcester.
Lilja is still unknown, but I figure we'll know more by noon when the plane takes off. Moore being included on the flight doesn't bode well for our Red Wing tryout.
Sharks clear waivers
Leach, Sullivan and Trevelyan all cleared waivers and were assigned to Worcester. In case any of you were worried some of our "depth" might get picked up.
Stalock Keeps Making the Big Saves
Great write up on our favorite up and coming goalie.
"Some goalies are after the individual stats, but I’m after the win," Stalock said. "I focus on making the key saves, the ones that come at timely points in a game, and never allowing the soft goals. It’s a matter of keeping things simple, letting the game come to me, and making that big save when I’m needed. It’s all just part of being a goalie."
I love this kid!
Get to know your beat writer
Great write up on David Pollak and his life as a beat writer.

Down Goes Brown has an awesome video for those of you who like team Canada... (the pot shots at Nabby are cruel, but fair... poor Tosk).
Apparently when the Sabers came to town there was a furry convention going on in the hotel they stayed at.
http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=514675
Some team members stopped to pose with convention goers. Drew Stafford had some great posts on his twitter account:

Now that's a welcoming committee. Well done SJ
Calder placed on waivers
Merry Christmas Spade.
Line Name
New WTC article is up and the WTC posters have apparently latched onto the idea of naming our current top line something since it's been getting some news lately.
The popular choice right now is 'The Burger Line' as a play on their names (Jumbo Heated Patty)
Dave Pollak thinks it's clever, but the subtitle makes it hard to sell.
It reminded me of a video I saw on Hockeybuzz in one of the Julie Loves Hockey segments where she talked about different line names that have appeared over the years. Some are boring, but she gets into some pretty clever ones towards the end.
Can anybody here come up with something better than 'The Burger Line'?
UPDATE:
Apparently it's not just the WTC guys pushing this, this stems from Randy Hahn wanting to give them a nick name. Post your vote on his facebook page, last I checked it was between Burger line and Jumbo line...
He's going to announce the winner on air at an 'upcomming Sharks telecast'
Can anybody stop Heatley - Thornton - Marleau
Apparently Puck Daddy Greg Wyshynski has noticed our humble top line has been putting up points enough to get a nice little fluff piece over there.
The first comment took the wind out of my suddenly inflated sales though.
Damn being an easy target.
Sharkspage Prospect Report
Catch up on our non-AHL prospects around the Juniors and NCAA.
Sounds like Wrenn is another Petrecki type of player, though probably not quite as nasty. The description reminds me of Rivet.
White is unfavorably compared to Kaspar.
Some other interesting bits in there as well.
WTC links Fear the Fin
Gotta love David Pollak, click the link to read all about it.
Worcester Motto
I found this brief article amusing.
Introducing the 2009-10 Worcester Sharks, whose motto has become, "Here today, gone yesterday."
Apparently we're not the only ones who have noticed the overactive Worcester shuttle
WTC poster issues
So, I know there is a bit of ribbing of WTC posters on this blog, not that we don't earn it and how DP puts up with the crap that goes on in his blog.
Anyway, in the end of todays article he mentions that he may be leveling the first ban in WTC history on one of the posters. You can check the previous post as to why he's probably going to be banned.
The comments towards the end of the previous post is what finally caused it. But he's back in the current post, apparently DP hasn't followed through just yet. Probably waiting until he gets back to the office.
Honestly, I find it all hilarious and for some reason he constantly attacks me. I wonder why...
Staubitz and Setoguchi out
Follow the link to find out who's coming up.
WTC Update - Vesce Sent Down
Vesce has been shipped back to the AHL and Shelley is still out for at least 2 more games.
That means we're 1 forward short by my count...
Heatley-Thornton-Setoguchi
Marleau-Pavelski-Clowe
Malhotra-Nichol-Ortmeyer
Staubitz-???-McGinn
Hmm.. we're down a center...
LET THE MITCHELL RETURN SPECULATION BEGIN!
sorry, couldn't help myself.
Nabokov is the NHL's 3rd Star of the Week
Nabokov won all 4 games this week, surrendering only 1 goal per game.
Joe Pavelski is a lousy detective
McGinn called up, Team practices playing defense
McGinn will be in the line-up for the home opener. Nabokov in the net.
Today's was spent remembering how to play defense. Pollak describes the drills, you should read it.
No really, go read it.
Buy the print paper while you're at it.
Blake Named Captain
Blake is the new Captain. Boyle and Thornton are the A's.
Dandenault Gone
Dandenault has been let go, Huskins is not impressing McLellan and his spot may be on the line, Ferriero gets another start tonight.
