Center

When Dallas Griffin went out I was somewhat surprised that Buck Burnett wasn't inserted at center. Chris Hall is an average-to decent guard, but a below average center. Moving Hall over in my opinion weakens two positions instead of maybe just the one.

Burnett is supposted to be the long term starter at that position so the experience could be beneficial for a team with no championship future this year, and I'm sure he wouldn't have fumbled all the QB exchanges.

Roy fined 10K for Horse Collar

Notebook: Williams collared by NFL

01:53 AM CST on Sunday, October 29, 2006

TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the second straight week and the third time this season, Cowboys safety Roy Williams was fined by the NFL.

The league docked Williams $10,000 for a horse-collar tackle on New York Giants running back Tiki Barber on Monday. No penalty was called on the play.

Williams was fined $7,500 for a hit two weeks ago on Houston receiver Kevin Walter and another $7,500 for a hit on Jacksonville quarterback Byron Leftwich in the opener.

The league also fined defensive ends Phillip Daniels of Washington and Ray Edwards of Minnesota $5,000 each for what was considered illegal or excessive contact against quarterbacks in last week's games, according to ESPN.com.

Marcus Coleman to start at free safety

Per Matt Mosley's Blog.

Marcus Coleman will start at free safety for the Cowboys on Sunday at Carolina.
Strong safety Roy Williams made the announcement on his weekly radio show on K104 this morning with host Chris Arnold.

Coleman replaces Patrick Watkins, who gets benched after numerous mistakes in the deep passing game.

Coach Bill Parcells wouldn't say who would start at his news conference this morning, so we'll find Coleman and possibly Watkins to find out the deal when the locker room opens up in a few moments.

Brad Buckman gets two-year suspension

Buckman gets two-year suspension after drug test
By Mark Rosner | Thursday, October 26, 2006, 05:43 PM

Brad Buckman, the former Longhorn basketball forward who had planned to play professionally in Greece this season, has received a two-year suspension after testing positive for Adderall, an amphetamine in medication he takes for attention deficit disorder.

Keith Glass, Buckman's New Jersey-based agent, said he does not know yet if the suspension prevents Buckman from playing elsewhere in Europe. Buckman, who is due back in the United States today, had signed a one-year contract for more than $100,000 with Olimpia Larissa in the top Greek league.

Ex-longhorn Shaun Rogers suspended 4 games.

"League sources confirmed Tuesday evening that Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, one of the NFL's most talented players at his position, has been suspended four games for a violation of the steroid and related substances policy.
The two-time Pro Bowl performer tested positive, sources said, for a product that Rogers used to help him control his weight. Those sources declined to specifically identify the substance, or to say when the positive test took place, but it is believed to have occurred either in the offseason or the preseason. "

I'm guessing it was Ephedra, the same thing punter Todd Sauerbrun was suspended for this year.

Mike Tirico

For everything Vince has done and brought to this team, the thing that I've hated about his time in Austin was how the media would give so much attention to him.

When I was watching the MNF game monday Mike Tirico was talking about Leinart saying he played in two of the best college football games ever last year. He said that "Leinart played agaisnt Vince Young in the Rose Bowl and Notre Dame earlier in the season."

I probably wouldn't have been that upset if he had said Vince Young and Texas, but when he just says Vince Young I get mad because of how good the team was around him.

Vote for Julius

Julius is one of the Nominees for FedEx Air & Ground® NFL Players of the Week of 10/03/06

Dallas' Julius Jones ran for 122 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.

He's currently 3rd (last) in the RB voting and can use some help. He's currently trailing Laurence Maroney and Clinton Portis.

While you're there, if you so choose, you can try and make sure Mark Brunell doesn't win.
