Why do we Ravens fans always set ourselves up for disappointment?
For the entirety of the last two years we have waited for "Joe Cool" to become the player that so many people still believe he can be. I have come to the conclusion that he has hit a wall. I think this is what he will be for his entire career, an average QB with a big arm that shows flashes of greatness and then washes your memory clean with one of his infamous fumbles or INT.
I was right! Torrey... Torrey... Torrey...
We all love the style and heart in which Torrey Smith plays, but in yestersays game i got a strange feeling when Torrey Smith reeled in a 68 yard bomb from DOB in the 3rd qtr. As he reached the endzone he pulled up in a limp. . . Now, having played football in high school and throughout my life, i understand that there is no better time to "be hurt" than right after a you've made a great play. Torrey did just that. Many in the game thread became concerned about Torrey's well being, but i knew it immediately. He was milking it lol.
Back in the mix
Hello fellow Maryland Terps fans. Im finally able to participate consistently again. Im stationed in Germany so i wont be able to see and hear everything that i would like, but im adjusting. Ive seen the MD-Navy game and the MD-WV game so far. But the next couple of games wont come on over here. I just wanted to express how i saw the Terps and see if everyone felt the same way. More after the jump...
The State of Maryland Athletics
First of all, allow me to re-introduce myself. Many of you may not remember me but about eight or nine months ago I was a large contributor to this website. Since that time i've been through Basic Training and Advanced Training. During most of that time I had no way of visiting this site or even following our beloved Terrapins. It was like taking a fat kid from the dinner table, i was lost without our Terps. I would sit on my bunk everynight wondering how the Terps played on saturday. Well, eventually, i was informed of our 2-10 football season and our disappointing loss in the NCAAT. As much as I would love to say that I think the Terps will be better than expected this year, i have no way of knowing. So, I thought everyone could inform me how they saw the Terps performing throughout the year.

Make or Break?
The Mighty Maryland Terrapins play host to the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State University. Maryland is 1-1 and MTSU is 1-1. This game is incredibly important for the Terps. With a win here, Maryland heads into a home game against Rutgers with confidence and momentum, But... with a loss, Maryland could very well begin spiraling out of control....more after the jump
My Report Card
I am fairly disappointed with the game last night and I know we're not as bad as we looked. With that being said this Terrapins team, in my opinion, will be and is not only better than last year but their much more watchable. I enjoyed the look of the Defense, it feels good to watch a normal defense and not that prevent defense that Cosh ran on every play. I also liked what i saw out of three positions in particular: S, TE, & WR. They each had down times but for the most part I think they played pretty well. A couple positions I'm not so high on: DL, OL, & CB. With that being said, here's my Report Card...

Pop, Pop, Pop!
Ralph is still at it! This time a DE from South Carolina. I haven't done any research on the kid to this point but he does have a pretty decent highlight tape on youtube.
In a nutshell, he's not a 4.4 guy but he's a Football Player and we can never have enough of those! He's a guy that obviously understands the game. He stays low and raps up well. His name? Brice Laughlin!
He was a "under the radar" guy, he sent his tape in and MD offered. Makes me wish i would've done things different..... :-(
Insidemdsports.com reports
Its looking good for the Terps when it comes to Terrence Jones (Terrence Ross's teammates). Supposedly, when asked whether Jones was content with attending college and playing ball on the west coast he signaled that he infact was intending on crossing over to the East Coast to play ball. Now i don't know about you fellas but this is looking good. Insidemdsports.com quotes in saying "indeed, it looks like the Terps could pull off a major coup here." FWIW
The Very Good Terrence is recruiting the Great Terrence
Terrence Ross is giving some Maryland love to his boy from Oregon by the name of Terrence Jones. When Ross committed i immediately looked on youtube for his highlights but instead i found more on Terrence Jones....and lets just say, the kid is a baller! If Maryland jumps on this kid we could have a stupid good class for 2010....and this is just the beginning!
Now i dont want to jump to conclusion, so i'll just leave it at this: Terrence Ross and Terrence Jones have always talked about playing college ball together.
Just a little something to sleep on.
2 things:
1. I was watching Anita and Scott earlier and they mentioned AZ wanting to trade with Ravens but i had to leave the house and now i cant find anything bout it. Can someone let me know what the deal was that was being offered and who was it that AZ wanted?
2. I was busy doing nothing and i began thinking of a Realistic move that the Ravens could make to get another reciever, possibly a bigger reciever. I was just wondering who i would go for if i was the Oz. Any ideas?
Just my outlook on the season so far.
1. Jeremy Guthrie is throwing 46 pitches per inning.
2. Mark Henrickson is Atrocious!
3. George Sherrill matches Mark's Atrociousness!
4. Adam Jones is a Boss!
5. Nick looks Amazing with the 5 o'clock shadow!
6. B-rob is Birdland! ....it seems like we're becoming a little ungrateful for B-rizzle!
7. Ty Wiggington is built like a Bowling Ball pin!
8. Chris Ray should fight George for the closer spot!.....Or race him! (probably a higher chance of winning!)
9. Greg Zaun is no longer to be written "ZAUN!" He hs to earn that SH!+!
10. Dave Trembley looks like the "Priceline Negotiator!"
11. Matt Weiters is SICK of the minors!.....Wait, this just in, WEITERS FAUGHT ZAUN FOR THE STARTING CATCHER SPOT...The winner?......Zaun.... :-( ...... He nawwed him to death!....DEATH!
Not looking good!
I was huge on the idea of bringing in such a potent offensive thread but it's not looking good fellas. I'm beginning to feel, now more than ever, that Lance Stephenson isofficially not coming to Maryland. It all seemed to be to good. But a few things led me to come to my conclusion:
1. He let Kansas jerk him around. They played with him just in case Xavier Henry went elsewhere. The played him like a JV Cheerleader when you're trying to get with the Varsity cheerleading Capt.
2. Gary has met with him numerous times and Lance has had, for a while now, a wide open chance to make it official that he's going to be Terp, but we haven't gotten so much as a rumor that he was thinking about committing.
3. When Xavier Henry committed to Kansas many of us felt it was our biggest shot to recieve his committment. But now after several days it seems he's looking elsewhere.
Anyways, as long as Greivis comes back I have no worries. BUT, like i've been saying for a while now, without GV, we could very well be a less potent offense then we were last year. Let mo know how you guys feel about Born Ready: is it over? or is he just taking his time?
