Daily Norseman Vikings Waive Berrian

EDIT: FSUViking managed to beat all of us to this one, so what the heck. . .let's give him the glory of the main page, shall we?

This has been a long time coming, and it's finally happened. I'm sure we'll have more on this as the day goes on, but here's a spot for everyone to talk about it. - Chris

The Vikings have apparently cut ties with Bernard Berrian by placing him on waivers. It would be interesting to see if anyone places a claim, but at this point that seems unlikely.

I think my only memory of Berrian in purple will be his 99 yard TD. I think this move is best for both parties. It wasn't working out, no need to continue to force the relationship. I'm actually a little surprised they made the move now, but I think it was the right move all along. I never really saw the heart from Berrian, he always seemed more interested in his twitter and bank account than his preformance for the team.

Daily Norseman Vikings are bringing in Max Starks to have a look

http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Source_Former_Steelers_left_tackle_Max_Starks_visiting_Vikings092611

The Vikings are bringing in Max Starks, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I'm not entirely sure if this move will happen but, we do need all the help we can get on the line at the moment.

Tom does point out something funny though: "@TomPelissero: So, the #Vikings are now bringing in 6-foot-8 left tackle who was cut for being out of shape. Funny how that works out: http://bit.ly/q5cnvu"

If they did end up bringing in Starks, I think it would give them the flexability in trying out the players in different positions. Perhaps they could try Charlie Johnson out at gaurd for Herrera. It might also send a strong message to the line that they aren't doing their job well enough.

Oline is our biggest problem, bar none. Whatever QB is out there, they are going to have one hell of a time doing much of anything. Even if we do go ahead and land the #1 pick in the draft next April, if we took Luck, which I don't think we would, we would still have a gigantic gaping hole at Oline. IWe would not be able to fix it very easily in free agency either, we would HAVE to address the situation in the draft.

What do you guys think of this? Do you think it will happen?

Daily Norseman Ponder wins #2 job

Source from ESPN1500: http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Vikings_pondering_ways_to_use_Joe_Webb_after_naming_rookie_No_2_QB090511

Looks like Ponder ended up winning the #2 spot. I think this will workout in both Ponder's and Webb's favor at the end of the day. Webb will be able to come in under whatever packages Musgrave has brewing up in his lab and Ponder will be able to take the lion's share of reps with the 2nd string and thus get much needed practice to prepare him for the future.

The only downside with this is that IF McNabb does go down then Ponder will be called upon to step up and step in. That is alot to ask of when you've had as little time as this draft class has had practicing.

I think Webb has a ton of upside, but personally, I see that upside as an athlete, being able to play and do a wide variety of things. I think we will still see alot of Webb this year, probably more than we will see of Ponder, and if everything goes well this year, that is how we want it.

What do you all think?

Skol Vikings!

Daily Norseman Vikings work out Ponder in Tallahassee

UPDATE:

Ponder's now officially been invited to Radio City Music Hall.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/05/christian-ponder-gets-a-draft-invitation-too/

Good for him. More to confirm he might be going in the 1st. Keyword though is might.

Ok so everyone who is a regular here knows, or even if you're not and can't guess from my name, I'm a huge fan of Ponder. I've had the pleasure of being able to watch him progress as a QB while I've been at FSU and even had the pleasure of meeting him once around campus and wished him luck when he got drafted in purple!! In any case, I wanted to bring this up since I hadn't seen a post about it. This past week Christian Ponder worked out for some of the top executives for our front office; Including Leslie Frazier, Bill Musgrave, Craig Johnson and Rick Speilman.

Daily Norseman Zygi is apparently "livid"

http://twitter.com/juddzulgad

Granted I'm taking this from Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune but It must have some legitimacy to it. At this point it isn't even much of a decision to keep or fire Childress is it? Sure he owes him money but like someone else said in the comments section of the game, at this point Zygi has to start thinking about how he is going to be losing money over the remaining games of the season.

Personally I would've fired Childress LONNNNNNNNNG ago but what is Zygi actually going to do? What are the most likely outcomes for both Childress and the Vikings' fortunes?

Actions speak louder than words and at this point I'm sick and tired of hearing the same regurgitated lines over and over.

Daily Norseman Rosenfels and Reynaud to Giants.

Traded both to the giants. No idea what we got in return but it was two picks with one of them possibly scaling upwards depending upon PT or something stupid.

My guess is a 4th and 5th if we were lucky. Something tells me we weren't that lucky though.

To make my post the appropriate length to post I'm now going to say how good FSU looked today. :D

59-6 FSU over Samford.

P.S. Florida are going to suck this year. Barely could beat Miami(OH).

Daily Norseman San Fran to fire Nolan.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3654269

We should consider getting in on the race for a good coach early on. St. Louis changed coach and are now 2-0 and look very different from what they looked like 4 games ago.

I've liked Nolan, especially his suits; just extremely classy in my opinion. BUT he wasn't their answer and he had his chances. Sounds like a similar situation, minus sweet suits and a mustache

Daily Norseman If the rams can do it....

why can't we?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3615358

Rams fire Linehan. I saw that coming for a while now. So the Rams do what we should do. I think its a smart move for them especially. They really weren't going to go anywhere this year, why not bring someone in who can take them somewhere and give the entire organization a fresh perspective and allow for the new HC scheme to be implemented. This obviously will probably take some time but I bet that come the start of next season the Rams are a totally different organization than the one this season.

Seriously Zygi lets get our thinking hats and pants on and a) make the decision which is in the best LONG term interests of your organization and perhaps b) make the decision that will best benifit your hard earned dollars which seem to have been spent on some particularly rubbish talent (ala Tapeh, Wade, etc). (I'm perhaps giving wade a hard time but lets face it, we shouldn't have paid for what we have gotten).

Daily Norseman Olympics

Just wanted to know what people thought about the Olympics so far, been watching alot more of them than I usually every do, not really sure why but I am pretty hooked on them this time round. Also, the sprinters in the olympics are soooooooo fast, how come none of them every try to make the jump to the NFL, surely a couple of them could make it, if anything they could be Devin Hester returners.

P.S. Go Tyson Gay and my boy from FSU, Walter Dix.

Daily Norseman Farve traded to the JETS

All i can really muster up is this..........

LOL

good luck mate! Hope the Pats own u and now I have even more reason to cheer on the Dolphins!

***

Quoted from: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp08/news/story?id=3522971

Traded Value:

"According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50 percent of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth rounder becomes a third-round pick. If he gets 70 percent of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a second-round pick; and if he gets 80 percent of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a first-round pick."

Minn poison pill:

"The NFL Network is also reporting that the Packers took great pains to ensure that Favre would not be traded to the Vikings by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to Minnesota, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay."

Daily Norseman More PA this year?

Ok so we know that we are amazing at the run, so does everyone else. Anyone think that they will try and incorporate more PA into the offense this year? If they do I really really really hope that Jackson worked on his throwing off balance, it was bad enough seeing it every week without the retards at ESPN bringing it up every 3 seconds when we played Washington.

Thoughts?

P.S. I think its hilarious that the Pack are filing tampering charges. Someone file a charge against thier vomit-inducing team colors.... seriously.

Daily Norseman K.Robinson released from Pack

Read this over at NFL.com.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8083cf35&template=without-video&confirm=true

Wonder how he is going to handle this news. If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say a little bit of glug glug and vroom vroom accompanied by the ever gentle sounds of 15 Cop cars chasing him.

Boy am I glad we got rid of him when we did.

Anyone think he gets picked up?

Daily Norseman Jared Allen Interview

http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d807eea7e

Seems like a nice guy, pretty funny too.

Well I have to make this 75 words long. So what if Booty looks better than TJ during camp and preseason? Would it be stupid to go out with him as the #1? Do you think TJ deserves a shot regardless?

I really hope TJ can come around this season, because if he cant his ass is gone next season.

Daily Norseman A recap of PFW Predictions

"In 2006, Pro Football Weekly's "best bets" prediction feature went 31-34-2. In 2007, the PFW "best bets" went 32-36. For two consecutive years, Pro Football Weekly's "best" predictions have finished behind flipping a coin. And for an extra $89.95 above the subscription price, PFW offers online access to a "handicapper's inner circle." Written by the same staff whose "best" bets do worse than random chance!"

lol @ PFW?

Daily Norseman What if...

What if we continue the way we are and end up in the top 5 of the draft. Do you think the Vikings would ditch Brad and perhaps try and snag Bill Cowher? I honestly don't have any faith in Childress' offense. We've given it time, and well, it sucks. What do you guys all think?

Daily Norseman SI's NFC Questions...

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/bucky_brooks/05/10/personnel.questions/1.html

Take a look at what he says about us, I can def. see where he is coming from but at the same time I am hopefully that the shoes will be filled by our WR corps. We can use the 1-2 running game and let our younger WRs get into the groove and hopefully with TW getting some glasses he can catch now. What are your guys' thoughts on what was said in the article?

Daily Norseman Any word...

Any word on what the Vikings organization seems to be leaning? Just wondering if they slipped up at all or have said anything about the subject. I guess at this point everything is hear-say anyways. On the plus side, I think that we will def. be able to trade down because either Quinn or Peterson is going to be available in my opinion which means we can either hand them off or keep them for ourselves, if it Peterson I hope we keep him but not soo much for Quinn.

Daily Norseman Vikings trading down....

Just wanted to know what you guys thought, after reading this article ... http://www.sportspyder.com/article/nfl/vikings/883872 it seems like while yeah they don't mention anyone besides GA that is worthy of the #7 pick so do you think its a sign that they are going to be trading down?

FYI I think Meachem(SP?) is going to be a stud in the NFL.

Daily Norseman David Garrad?

What would you guys think of acquiring David Garrard??

Do you guys think that he would be better than Carr? I don't know if Brad Childress wants TJ to start next year and perhaps if we can land a proven quarterback it could be the thing that TJ needs.

What do you guys think?

I just hope for the love of God that we don't look into Aaron Brooks. I would probably rather have Brad Johnson, well maybe I wouldn't go that far.

Daily Norseman Draft Picks

Hey gonzo who do you think we are going to end up taking in the draft? Dwayne Jarrett? Calvin Johnson? JaMarcus Russel? all good options imo. Both are great wide receivers and we have the most legit shot at Dwayne Jarrett I think. I think that while he may not be as good as Calvin Johnson that he for sure has the potential.

Daily Norseman Wow

Well, after watching the Vikings lose to Green Bay I can offically say that Brad Childress sucks. This loss obviously wasn't all on his shoulders with more props going to our wide array of "ball-dropping" WRs.

With the season offically over I don't even know if I want to watch next week's game. I really don't think we are going to win due to the fact that Childress' "west coast" offense is horrible. Earlier this week he said that he was going to look at the opposing teams' Ds and use thier tendencies against them, what every team should do against an opponent in any sport, however the one thing he should've done is use Jackson's mobility more as well as the fact that he never established the run. Granted we didn't get that fact in the first half but in the second we weren't exactally not moving the ball. I didn't understand why he felt that the best way to win the game would be to play in the mode of catch up when we were only down by a grand total of 6 points.

Oh well, perhaps I am venting or perhaps I am right who cares, I am too pissed to speak.
