Should we have a firesale, or can we?
For the fourth year in a row we find ourselves on the verge on contention, not quite out of it but far enough back that, barring a change in the status quo of the last four years, we will not be able to catch up. As much as it hurts to say, it's not gonna happen this year. We are the fourth best team in this division, and until we find consistency on both sides of the ball that's not going to change. We've kinda fucked ourselves for the last few years by only being mediocre. By constantly being in contention we can't make the changes necessary to field a championship change. So what do we do?
1. Stay pat and build for next year with a badass rotation w/ incoming help from Heyward and Freeman.
2. Firesale! Deal Soriano, Gonzo, Vasquez, for max value. Especially if we can't re-sign Soriano. Also maybe look into shipping off Kotch and KJ (though I'm sure that ship has sailed). I can't imagine us trading Chipper with his new extension but realistically it'd probably be better for the future of the team.
Any other ideas?
