Trade that can make or break the Clippers
Hey all,
Just want to know what you guys think about this trade:
for
Throw in an extra team or wait till December when you can include Ryan Gnomes in the deal to make the salaries work out. Don't be too quick to bash this trade. Think about it, Clippers are under the cap and who the hell who spent our free cap space that was meant to Lebron on? Ryan Gnomes, Brian Cook...Bulter?? Lets at least get a player who works hard and has superstar potential. Least of least, we can all attest that Gilbert Arenas LOVES basketball and WORKS at his game plenty. He's always trying to be in shape and is addicted to practicing his SHOOTING. Baron Davis on the other hand hows up to camp out of shape, disinterested, and into other things. Lets give both of these players a fresh start in new cities. Maybe Baron can help John Wall more. But more importantly, Gilbert Arenas NEEDS to leave Washington. He doesn't want to be there but he still strives to play more basketball. If he can revive Clipper basketball he can love playing the game again and be the superstar he's PAID to be.
Clippers have a massive problem with shooting the 3-ball right now. Even EJ is shooting at an abysmal percentage beyond the arc. Gilbert can at the very least stroke the 3. I say we do this trade and give up whatever bums on the team that is neccessary to make this work. Washington is definitely willing to give Gilbert up. He does make more money than Baron and have an extra year so financially, it could make sense for them. No way either team is getting expired contracts for either players. So sorry, no Eddy Curry for Gilbert Arenas or Baron Davis......
I recognize the fact that Gilbert has a long injury history...but his injuries are at least not from his own laziness. He works hard on getting in shape and has shown that he's relatively healthy for these past few games. Further, the Clips aren't going to spend their free cap space on anybody with talent anyways. Nobody is going to the Clippers unless they are DRAFTed by the Clips (eg, Eric Gordan, Blake Griffin), so the best talent we can get is by somebody's garbage (eg Gilbert Arenas). Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson, Lebron, Melo aren't going to the Clippers anytime soon so lets just face that fact right now.
Lets get Gilbert Arenas, a wounded warrior with something to prove to the world. He is once mentioned with the same great scorers like Kobe and Lebron. Lets give him another chance to show that he belongs with the elite again.
Lets make this happen and bring an exiled superstar to LA.
Does this sound like a good unit for Defense only or is it just me?
Hey all,
I am new to this site here. An impartial fan of the NBA here..i am actually more of a degenerate sportsbetting gambler so I've been watching all of the games and such. Enough about me, I am just wondering why Gentry did not put out this unit for that last possession:
Amare (guarding the inbounds) - big long arms can distract the passer along with his high jumping
Lopez on Gasol - or you can have Amare
Hill on Kobe (of course)
Dudly on whoever else needs to be covered, more likely Fisher.
LOUIS AMUNDSON = for any cleanups if necessary or boxing out.
There is no reason for Nash and Richarson, two of the Suns worst defenders to be in the game. Nash is already giving all he has for the team on offense and he just doesn't have the size for effective defense. (No offense to you Mr. Nash).
Just want to see what you Suns fans thing. I am just curious and want to see would be wrong in having a defensive only unit like this out.
Note to Rick C. I respect your coaching, but here is some advice from a fan who think he knows it all
I think I speak for alot of us when I say this. Here is what we want you to do:
1. Less Barea please. He's a good player in SPURTS. He can give Jason Kidd a rest here and there so that he doesn't have to play 48 minutes of chasing guards who are faster than him around. Let Barea make 1 three, couple of assist and drives to the basket and we golden.
2. That leads us to this point, NO Three Guard Lineup for a whole quarter.. Blair is killing us on the boards, why? Cause you making guards try and box him out!!! He is a good player, but anybody who is rebounding vs guards 50 lbs lighter will look like a beast on boards and tip ins.
3. More Marion! Stop benching him so often and early. He's there for Defense, rebounding and transition stuff. We need every transition point we can get.
4. Brenda > Erika. Is it just me or does it seem like Brenda is more effective on D and O than Erika? Erika seems like her hands are constantly lubricated by coconut oil or something since he never catches passes/tip ins/ rebounds. Brenda just seems overall more effective for the center position.
5. You can give or take this Rick, if you happen to read this blog, but more Roddy B! He's unproven and you trust Barea more, I understand, but if you need to try and find somebody to shut Hill or Parker down and Barea isn't doing it, try and go with Roddy and give him the speech of Disney movies to get him to stop those pesky guards.
That is all and glad to hear some feedback. Lets make history guys and get in the record books for down 3-1 comebacks!
My Idea to Fix the Lottery System and Get rid of Tanking!
Here is my two cents in how the NBA should fix the lottery system and make end of the season basketball for those losing teams MORE EXCITING!
Many such as Simmons among others have suggested having a playoff for the 8th spot in the playoffs amongst the lottery bound teams. Thats a good idea in itself that I would like to use to determine the Lottery System. We could start out with our currently lottery system where each team gets a certain amount of lottery balls based on their W-L record, the team with the worst record getting the most lottery balls and thus the highest probability of landing the #1 draft pick. The NBA can host a single elimination tourament like March Madness with the ultimate prize of landing more lottery balls (for now I'd suggested an increase of 10% chance of landing the top pick) to the team who wins the tourament. Of course, the home team advantage goes to the team with the better record.
Therefore, the team with the worst record, such as the Nets this season, still have a good chance of landing the #1 draft pick based on their horrible W-L record, but a team that is doing decently but won't make playoffs like the Hornets, can possibility raise their draft positions by winning this tournament so that they won't forever be stuck in mediocrity as well. I think this can make basketball infinitely more exciting for those losing teams in late March to April and have a chance for those perinally losing teams like us Clippers get a chance to see "playoff" basketball for once!
Tell me what you guys think and any additions you'll like to make.

Signing a new backup PG = why not Shaun Livingston..he's waived...
Hey ClipsN,
Why can't we just pick up Shaun Livingston? He would definately be better than Mardy Collins as a backup PG. Baron Davis can't play 48 minutes like Lebron and remain productive. He needs his breaks so that he can play with full energy and enthusiasm to dominate the league. Shaun Livingston even at 50% would still handle the ball better than Mardy...no offense to him. What do you guys think?
Clippers Home Opener Only $15 Dollars!
Hey all,
I am new to posting and I feel bad that my first post is going to be about selling tickets. I've been following a couple of SB bball blogs lately and I found the writing on Clipsnation to be one of the best and least bias out of all the other blogs.
Anyways, I am from Western University, in Pomona and I am buying a big package of tickets, 30 of them total, but I can only get 20 of my friends to go. I am only buying 30 to get a discounted price from the Clippers group sales. These tickets are in the 300 section and they include a free hot dog and drink. If you are interested in buying these tickets and joining my group in watching the game, please email me at:
dnhoang.ucsd@gmail.com and I'll mail you the tickets and the voucher for the free food.
-Thanks and I'll look forward to posting other things in the future!
