Lifelong baseball fan who grew up in Detroit watching Al Kaline from the right field bleachers in Briggs Stadium. Played 18 years of shortstop in industrial leagues (softball) in Los Angeles until knee surgery sent me to the golf course for good. Live and work in Ahwatukee with season seats to the D'Backs.
I'd rather watch an intentional walk than witness the most horrendous NASCAR crash in history. Soccer is for girls. Football is too violent. And the NBA's chest thumping and school yard play is not worth watching. I played hockey growing up in Detroit but have not followed the sport in years. Baseball, to me, is the one sport that has remained true to its roots over the years and I love it for that.
My only regret these days is that ballparks don't smell like hot dog water and cigars anymore. When I close my eyes, I can still smell Briggs Stadium on a warm, summer day.
