NFL Sunday Ticket Options

Hi everyone! Recently I have been looking into options regarding NFL Sunday Ticket. The problem I am having is that I am not interested into purchasing a cable package with DirecTV. They used to offer only the NFL Sunday Ticket as its own option, but now you have to pay for a cable package in addition to it. As I said previously, I am not interested in that particular choice. Another option that I am looking into is Sunday Ticket through the Playstation Network. The link may say that it's $150, but that's only for half of a season. The representative from Sony told me it's going to be around $300 for the entire season. So, I have a couple of questions for those of you on here that have used their PS3 to watch the Cowboys. Since it is streaming from the internet, are there issues with the feed? How is the quality of the feed? Do you have issues loading the game or issues with your internet because of Sunday Ticket? Would you recommend this option? Any input is greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone else have a recommendation as to how to watch the Cowboys games? I live in Central Illinois, so almost all 12 CST starts are not televised here. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. As you can probably understand, I am NOT willing to miss any Cowboys games. I'm just trying to avoid going to Buffalo Wild Wings every week. Thank you in advance for any help. And, of course, go Cowboys!

LeCharles Bentley Analyzes Tyron Smith's Technique

"It's almost as if he is playing with a 15 pound weight tied around his neck, can you imagine how difficult that is? I know my assessment of his movement is correct because I've studied his film and Tyron plays with his upper body straight up. At this point in his career, he's young and strong enough to get by but now going into his second year, there is a lot of film to study on him. Defenders will now have a library of his work to pick at his weaknesses. I can guarantee that if his stance isn't corrected, Tyron Smith will see a lot of bull rushes this year." A quick look at the stance technique of Tyron Smith by former lineman, LeCharles Bentley. Hopefully this never becomes an issue.

Sox Trade Jason Frasor

"The Blue Jays have acquired Jason Frasor from the White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitchers Myles Jaye and Daniel Webb, according to a press release. It appears that GM Ken Williams hasn't taken any time off to celebrate the New Year after trading Carlos Quentin to the Padres just over 24 hours ago." Anybody know anything about the two prospects?

Cowboys to Induct Pearson Into ROH

"The Dallas Cowboys will announce that former wide receiver Drew Pearson will become the 18th member of the franchise's Ring of Honor, according to a source" While many assumed this would happen, it's still awesome to see. Unfortunately, I wasn't around to see Pearson play, but I have watched plenty of highlights. This award is long overdue and I can't wait to see his induction ceremony.

Larry Allen Helps Tutor Tyron Smith

"First-round pick Tyron Smith declared on draft day that he plans to be a Hall of Famer, and Allen hopes to give the rookie a little assistance. Allen planned to take the Smith out to lunch Thursday and give him a little advice. That might consist of sharing some technical pointers, but Allen said he’d pretty much tell the rookie to listen to offensive line coach Hudson Houck and pick up the intensity a little bit." I know this isn't much of a news story, but I thought I'd share with my fellow fans. Larry Allen will always be the greatest lineman in the history of the Cowboys to me (If you have a different opinion, share it in the comments!) and it's great to hear that he's coming back to help the franchise. I can't help but feel good about the team when I hear about guys like Charles Haley, Leon Lett, Nate Newton, and Larry Allen coming back to Dallas to help out. Also, anybody else excited to hear Larry's HOF speech? I don't think I've ever heard the guy speak for more than a couple of seconds.

Cowboys Not Done In Free Agency?

But the Cowboys are not done. '"No we're not," owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Thursday afternoon on 103.3 FM. "We potentially have some things we want to do." ' Any ideas on who they might go after? Any preferences?

Astros Claim Harrell Off Waivers

Had yet to see this on the site, so I thought I'd post it. "Lucas Harrell, who has been on the verge of a breakthrough with the Chicago White Sox for over a year, was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros...The right-hander had two separate stints with the White Sox this season, appearing in three games. In five innings he posted a 7.20 ERA. In 11 career appearances with the White Sox he was 1-0 with a 5.28 ERA."

Hawks Promote Bergevin to Assistant GM

"Marc Bergevin takes over as assistant general manager, replacing Kevin Cheveldayoff, who recently took over as general manager of the Winnipeg franchise. Bergevin is a former Hawks player, assistant coach and most recently was the director of player personnel." Hadn't seen this on the blog yet, so I thought I'd post it. My bad if it just missed it around here.

White Sox Claim Reliever Off Waivers From Arizona

"Left-hander Leyson Septimo was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday and optioned to Double-A Birmingham. The 25-year old was 2-1 with a 6.37 ERA at Double-A Mobile this season. He has limited right-handers to a .186 batting average (13 for 70)."

Former Cowboy Godfrey Myles Dies

"Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Godfrey Myles died Thursday from complications of a heart attack, according to the University of Florida. He was 42." Always sad to hear about the passing of a former player, especially a Cowboy. Unfortunately, I was too young to remember Myles. Those of you who saw him play please share your memories with those of us who didn't. It'd be great to hear about a former Cowboy that some of us didn't get the opportunity to see.

Another Option at Safety

"Manning is a unique cross between a physical strong safety-type player who excels closer to the line of scrimmage, and a dynamic kick returner. Those two usually don't go together but Manning has been able to excel at both positions. And considering the Bears have had Devin Hester in the fold for the last five years - (Hester and Manning were both second-round picks of the Bears in 2006) - Manning has been good enough to take a few kick returns away from Hester, who is arguably the best return specialist of all time. Despite the rule changes on kickoffs, which could decrease the value of that position, Manning has been good enough in the past to assume he would still make a few plays in that role." As Eatman points out, Manning seems to be more of a SS type and not a centerfield safety like we need. With that being said, he still seems to be an interesting option since he fills two positions in SS and KR. Personally, I like Manning, but some people may view him as more of a run-stopping safety instead of a ball hawk. Living near Chicago I've seen plenty of Bears game and have noticed this guy every game. Whether it's through the return game or in the secondary, the guy makes plays and as we all know, we've been missing a playmaker at the safety position since a young Roy Williams/Darren Woodson. I just posted this because I wanted to see what BtB's opinion was on this guy. As for my opinion, I view him as a nice backup option if we fail on Huff or Weddle.

A Positive Sign For Peavy.

Barring another setback, he'll start in the minor leagues on April 13.

Cowboys Receive Compensatory Pick

The Cowboys have received an extra seventh round pick.

Viciedo Fractures Thumb

Didn't see this on SSS yet, so I thought I'd post it. An injury in spring training is always unfortunate for someone trying to make the team, especially when they were hitting as well as Viciedo. I didn't get to see him play right yet and I was really looking forward to seeing it, but I guess I'll have to wait 3-4 weeks now.
