If the Jazz pick Kabongo, and Kabongo makes a three point shot, I can imagine Boler saying "they just got Kabongoed!"

Not until he has the frosted blonde highlights in his hair.

I like the looks you have given to Favors and Burks.

The draft seems to be such a crap shoot, that perhaps the Jazz should just have monkeys throw darts at a dart board with names on it, and pick the name on which the dart lands.
Commented on The Downbeat: He Screwed Us Edition on May 7 2013, 6:01p
Maybe it's too small a sample size, but based on his performance in this year's play-offs, maybe Nate is ready to be a starter, rather than just an off-the-bench sparkplug type of player.

Do any of you metrics guys think Tyreke Evans could work out as a point guard with the Jazz.

I like Martell Webster, because he is long and tall and has some athleticism, enabling him to do other things than just shoot 3-pointers.

I'd really like to see the Jazz go after Marco Bellinelli as a backup SG and three point shooter. He is a so much better all around player than Randy Foye, Kyle Korver, or Anthony Morrow, and can still shoot the lights out on 3-pointers and foul shots.

But I think we can all agree that both Mo Williams and Nate Robinson are back-up point guards--and shouldn't be starters.

Other potential PG lineups:

If we are going to sign a "hero ball" point guard, I would much rather sign Nate Robinson than Mo Williams.

I am much higher on Plumlee than Olynyk, whom I think will be a complete bust. At least Plumlee will probably be able to stay in the league as a backup.

I like Schroeder at #14, as well.

I am looking forward to the draft and the off-season to see how the Jazz team shapes up.

I think Mitchell could come right in and play for the Jazz, kind of like Kenneth Faried did for the Denver Nuggets.

It's hard to say that any of the point guards in this draft--including Trey Burke--will turn out to be very good.

This makes things more interesting, but not necessarily better.

I take that back, he is not really a combo guard.

He seems to be almost a clone of Alec Burks.

I think Archie Goodwin may be the best player available at the #14 pick.

I say bring back the "3 to make 2" rule of NBA foul shooting.

Amare Stoudemire has said a lot of dumb things, and I think what he mentioned about playing with Steve Nash was one of them.

I could see the Jazz just using their draft picks to grab some useful players for the future.

One trade I thought the Jazz missed on was a trade of Millsap to Houston for Kyle Lowry.

I agree. However, if the Jazz could get Bledsoe without having to offer Burks, that would be awesome.
Commented on The Downbeat: The "I'm Not Afraid To Do That" Edition on Apr 24 2013, 11:37a
The other problem is that if Schroeder continues to show good ability, it is likely he will be taken before the Jazz's #14 pick--probably by Dallas who is one pick ahead of the Jazz.

I disagree.

Of course, if the Jazz could get Bledsoe without giving up any of the C4, all the better.

The LA Clippers might trade Bledsoe straight across for Burks. Or, for Burks and a 2013 first round draft pick.

Unfortunately, if Schroeder does well at the combine and at workouts, he will probably get snatched up by Dallas, a few spots ahead of the Jazz pick.

If the best player available at the #14 pick is a big, or if there are two equal players available at the #14 pick and one is a big (unless one is a very good point guard--which is a specific need), the Jazz should take the big, regardless of need.

Ibaka is continuing to develop offense to go with his defense.

I could also feel good about the Jazz picking Cody Zeller, if he slid down a bit in the draft.

As far as Kabongo goes, who cares where anyone else rates him.

I had a fantasy last week that perhaps the Jazz could trade for Pau Gasol by involving Atlanta in a 3-way trade.

I am a bit concerned that if some of the better players, such as Marcus Smart and Glenn Robinson III don't opt into the draft, the Jazz won't have as good of choices when they pick in the draft.

I like either Schroeder or Kabongo for the Jazz's 21st pick.

West might be a pretty good solution. He is consistently an 18-20 point scorer; not too bad of a rebounder, and probably a better defensive player than Millsap or Jefferson.

What I would really prefer is if the Jazz could somehow obtain Pau Gasol without giving up Favors or Kanter.

I really don't think Millsap is available to the Jazz.

That would be great if Millsap had any desire to re-sign with the Jazz, but I think his performance the last 8-10 games shows he was already out the door, even before the season ended.

The Jazz really need a third big man who can score--if not Al Jefferson, then who?

I predict that the Jazz will bring Al Jefferson back on a front-loaded contract, and will then trade him after he mentors Favors and Kanter for another year or two.
