Happy 19th Birthday Jaguars

Hard to believe it has been almost 20 years since that day in November. The excitement in this city following the announcement will likely never be equaled by anything other than a Super Bowl...

Jaguars DL Odrick Ray arrested

+
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie and former University of Tulsa defensive end Odrick Ray was arrested Friday night in Tulsa for outstanding traffic warrants. Ray played four seasons at Tulsa, before signing as an undrafted free agent with Jacksonville in 2011. Ray was released following the 2011 preseason, but resigned with the Jaguars in May of 2012. Arrest records show that Ray was pulled over just before midnight Friday evening for speeding and not wearing a seat belt. When Ray was discovered to have outstanding warrants, he was taken into custody.

Albert Breer of NFL.com: Long-term, things are murkier (in Jacksonville)

Look guys. Not only do we have fans that don't care about the team. Now, we need a new stadium too. Oh no...we doomed. Jacksonville Jaguars: Shad Khan's still in his infancy as an NFL owner, so the Jags aren't going anywhere for a while. But this market's a tough one for the league, and the club has laid out to the city what it needs in renovations to make cavernous EverBank Field work. The Jags also have options to leave if this situation worsens. One is a three-year process, where they'd have to lose money one year, land under the league average in revenue the next two years, then pay off outstanding bonds. The other is a straight buyout, at a significant cost. For now, the Jags are staying. Long-term, things are murkier.

With Podlesh gone, Uche is the only starter left from 2007-2008 draft classes.

Just four years later and the only remaining starter from the 2007-2008 draft class is 2007 fifth rounder Uche Nwaneri.

Jaguars OC Dirk Koetter at Boise State pro day

He even led one of the receiver drills for Austin Pettis and Titus Young. And apparently DE Ryan Winterswyk could potentially move to tight end. Sounds like a perfect fit for the Jags.

SI's Andrew Perloff puts out mock draft with invalid comment about Jaguars fans. One day later, comment removed.

Nothing major, just a typical mid-January mock. I am not going to bother with his selection of Cam Newton for the Jags. What stood out when I looked at this mock the other day was his comment regarding the selection. This is what it said originally: The Jags have to regret passing on Tim Tebow because their fan base was apathetic to the team once again in 2010. The Jags can let Newton sit behind David Garrard and develop. Magically, a day later it says just this: The Jags can let Newton sit behind David Garrard and develop. I wonder if Perloff realized how wrong he was and removed it himself.

12,000 tickets left for Jaguars-Bills game

As of Monday, the Bills still had about 12,000 tickets left for Sunday's home game against Jacksonville. And after last weekend's debacle against the Jets, it would be hard to imagine any run on the box office. "We don't expect it to be sold out in time to lift the blackout," Scott Berch-told, the team's vice president for communications, said Monday afternoon. If the Jacksonville game doesn't sell out by 1 p.m. Thursday, the team will have its first regular-season home blackout since Dec. 24, 2006.
