As the name implies, I'm a lifelong fan of the Florida Gators. I've also been known to be fiercely loyal to the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins. And of course a few other individuals and teams that I've grown to follow over the years.
I'm pretty sure that J. P. Morgan said it best:
"If you have to ask how much something costs, you can't afford it."

Florida Gators Track And Field Will Send 17 Individuals, 2 Relays To NCAA Outdoor Championships
The Florida Gators will send 17 individuals and 2 relays teams (10 on the men's side and 9 on the women's side) to the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa. While neither team has any real shot at an overall team championship, they will no doubt be in contention for quite a few individual and possible relay crowns.
As a result of yesterday's action, the Gators added six more individuals and two relay teams to their contingent that was already heading to Drake University. Dwight Barbiasz (high jump), Dedric Dukes (200 meter dash), Eddie Lovett (110 meter hurdles), Ciarra Brewer (women's triple jump), Darshay Davis (women's 200 meter dash), Cory McGee (1,500 meter run), the men's 4x400 meter relay team and the women's 4x400 meter relay team all qualified for the NCAA's on the final day.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team dropped the baton between the 2nd and 3rd leg and as a result will not be heading to the NCAA Championship. In case you were wondering, the 2nd leg was Tony McQuay and the 3rd leg was Leonardo Seymore. I'm not exactly sure what the issue was as I missed it live, but I'm sure it was something simple.
They almost always are in those situations. Just bad luck.
More on who will be representing the orange and blue at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa after the jump. I've also made a prediction or two which are pretty much guaranteed to be incorrect. And I promise you that fact is not by clever design or anything.
Jeff Demps Withdraws In 100m, Eight Florida Gators Qualify For NCAA's On Day Two Of East Preliminary
And just like that, he's gone again.
Jeff Demps withdrew from his heat in the 100 meter dash on Friday due to his troublesome hamstring and, as a result, will not be competing in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. Given his primary goal of making the USA Track and Field Team for the Summer Olympics this year in London, England, it was probably the right move.
Winning an Olympic Medal has always meant more than winning something in college. The risk of making the injury worse just isn't worth the risk for Demps.
The day wasn't a total loss for Florida, as eight more Gators earned their spot at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships during the day-two action of the East Preliminary yesterday. Genevieve LaCaze (women's 3,000 meter steeplechase), Taylor Burke (women's high jump), Lanie Whittaker (women's 400 meter dash), Darshay Davis (women's 100 meter dash), Tony McQuay (men's 400 meter dash), Omar Craddock and Marquis Dendy (men's triple jump) and Jeremy Postin (men's hammer) all qualified to compete in Des Moines, Iowa.
After the jump: schedule and viewing information of events for Saturday, the last day of the prelims.
Stipe Zunic, Two Others Qualify For NCAA's On First Day Of East Preliminary
Since there aren't any pictures of the events from yesterday and I refuse to use an old one, we're going to have this column be in the style of The Grey Lady.
He's baaaaack!
Jeff Demps, who is running in his first meet since the Tom Jones Classic in April, came in second-place overall in the qualifying heat for the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.21 seconds. He'll run later today in the quarterfinals of the 100 meter dash with a trip to Des Moines, Iowa on the line.
While Demps didn't qualify for Des Moines on the first day -- though with the way qualifying was set up, it was nearly impossible -- there were three members of the Florida Gators track and field teams who did. Stipe Zunic (surprise!), Marquis Dendy and Florence Ngetich all qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships by virtue of their work yesterday.
Zunic won the javelin throw with a best distance of 74.06 meters, which he accomplished on his first throw. He did attempt his five other throws instead of taking a pass, but he was basically just going through the motions. Dendy also won his event, the long jump, with a best distance of 7.81 meters. Dendy did take a pass on his last three jumps once victory was certain.
Ngetich, who was the only women's team member to qualify for the Championships, qualified based on her sixth-place finish in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 34:26.88 seconds. She made the cut by around sixteen seconds, which in terms of track time is a long time.
There's more on how the Gators fared on the first day, along with a preview and viewing information for day-two after the jump.
Florida Gators Get 10 Players On Phil Steele's 2012 Preseason All-SEC Team
As Phil Steele's annual list of preseason all-conference teams continues to get released, it was just a matter of time until it was the SEC's turn. Well, the list is out in PDF form and their are ten Gators on it. Eleven if you want to count Andre Debose twice, who made the list at two different positions.
The Gators placed one on the first-team, five on the second-team, two on the third team and four on the fourth-team. While up there with the top teams in the conference in terms of total numbers, the lack of first-team members is glaring considering that just a few years ago the Gators used to dominate the list.
And people tell me that change is a good thing.
More on how the Gators fared after the jump.
Florida Gators Track And Field Begins East Preliminary For NCAA Outdoor Championships
For the Florida Gators it's win or go home. Well, for the most part anyway.
Both the men's and women's track and field teams are in Jacksonville, Florida today for the NCAA East Preliminary round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
For a men's team that had championship aspirations at the beginning of the outdoor season, it's basically the end of the line. They aren't winning the National Championship without Gray Horn, who will miss these qualifiers due to an act of individual stupidity. There is some good news though, as Jeff Demps is back and ready to go.
The women's team on the other hand, has a chance. It's a small chance, but a chance nonetheless. But we'll get more in-depth into that subject a little later on.
Today marks the first of three-days in which athletes can qualify for the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa that begin on June 6th.
As always, schedule of events and viewing information after the jump.
The 14-team conference has been negotiating with both networks this year after the SEC expanded with Texas A&M and Missouri. That triggered a clause in the SEC's deal that allows the league to go back to the negotiating table with its partners, just as the ACC recently renegotiated its media contract with ESPN after its own expansion with Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
The bigger negotiation is with ESPN, and talks appear to revolve around an SEC-branded cable channel that could launch as early as 2014. ESPN's current arrangement with the SEC — negotiated in 2008 — pays an average of $150 million a year over 15 years.
According to a CBS Sports report through Sports Business Daily, the SEC is a lot closer to adding a television network of their own than previously thought.
And the game continues to change. Also, according to the report, if the SEC does indeed begin its own network, it won't begin until 2014.
Florida Women's Tennis Tops Michigan, Advances To NCAA Quarterfinals
What a way to earn the 899th victory in program history!
The Florida Gators stormed back to earn the doubles point thanks to Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather, and then proceeded to sweep the singles matches in route to a 4-0 match win against the Michigan Wolverines to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Embree and Mather defeated Mimi Nguyen and Michelle Sulahian 9-7 to earn the crucial doubles point and send the Gators to singles with a 1-0 lead. They were down a break (basically, a serve) at 5-3 but came back rather quickly thanks in part to great communication between Embree and Mather.
In the two other doubles matches, the Gators earned a split. Alexandra Cercone and Caroline Hitimana defeated Kristy Dodge and Sarah Lee of Michigan by the score of 8-2 while Sofie Oyen and Allie Will lost to Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender 8-5.
More on the singles action after the jump.
Florida Gators Men Finish Fourth, Women Finish Second At SEC Outdoor Championships
The Florida Gators track and field teams will leave Baton Rouge and the SEC Outdoor Championships behind them without winning a team championship. But that was somewhat to be expected. The men's team finished fourth overall (behind Arkansas, LSU and Georgia) and the women's team finished second (behind LSU).
Yes, I know that a second and fourth place finish is nothing to be ashamed of. While they might have expected to accomplish more, the writing was on the wall (especially the men's team) before the Gators landed in Baton Rouge. It's a numbers thing.
And yes, it is much more difficult to win the outdoor championship (SEC or NCAA) than it is to win the indoor crown. It's just the way they are set up. Teams like Arkansas who have monster distance programs compared to a team like UF who have monster field programs can enter more athletes in a particular event and thus potentially get more points.
Again, think numbers.
All wasn't lost though. Among the many success stories for the Gators were: Genevieve LaCaze winning so many titles (and trophies) that she'll probably never stop smiling and Stipe Zunic winning his sixth-straight javelin crown. Oh, and the relay teams did their thing. You know what that is by now.
Florida Gators Men, Women In Fourth Place Entering Final Day Of SEC Outdoor Championships
The Florida Gators men's and women's track and field teams were both successful on Saturday if you look past the current standings. And since I'm a "glass half full" type of guy (not really when it comes to sports, but it does sound better) that's how we're going to look at things.
While both teams are in fourth-place after day-three, both teams appear to be in good shape for Sunday. Through six events the men's team has 26 points and through nine events the women's team has 39 points. Both teams are behind Arkansas, Georgia and LSU in some order. If you're wondering, Arkansas leads the men's teams and Georgia is in first-place on the women's side of things.
In Saturday's women's field events, jumper Taylor Burke (who is also the starting goalkeeper on the soccer team) won the SEC Championship in the high jump with a best height of 1.83 meters. She accomplished that Championship by clearing 1.83 meters on her first five jumps.
In the long jump finals, Daniela Griffin finished fifth overall with a best distance of 5.67 meters and picked up four points for her effort. Coming off of her heptathlon victory, Brittany Harrell finished last in the javelin with a best distance of 36.72 meters.
As for the women's track events, Genevieve LaCaze won the 3,000 meter steeplechase SEC Championship with a time of 10:13.99 seconds. For her championship she picked up ten points and moved the Gators closer to the top of the standings.
Darshay Davis qualified for the finals on Sunday in the 100 meter dash with a qualifying time of 11.34 seconds. Lanie Whittaker and Ebony Eutsey both qualified for the finals of the 400 meter dash with times of 53.22 and 52.67 seconds respectively. In the 100 meter hurdles, Ugonna Ndu qualified for the finals with a time of 13.38 seconds. There were five women's qualifiers for the finals in the 1,500 meter run in Agata Strausa, LaCaze, Cory McGee, Shelby Hayes and Mandy Perkins. They finished first, fourth, fifth, eighth and eleventh respectively.
As always, more on the men's team and a preview (and schedule) of Sunday's events after the jump.
Florida Gators In Second Place After Day Two Of SEC Outdoor Championships
The men's and women's track and field teams both got off to a fast start at the 2012 SEC Outdoor Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday. After three events scored the men's team is in third-place and the women's team is in fourth-place. The star of the day was without question Brittany Harrell who won the women's heptathlon and set all kinds of records in the process. Her victory earned the women's team ten points and a solid start after two events.
The only other women's team member to score any points on day two was Callie Cooper who finished fourth overall in the 10,000 meter run and picked up five points in the process. The women's team (fifteen points) is behind Georgia (twenty-six), Arkansas (eighteen) and LSU (seventeen).
However, it isn't like Cooper and Harrell were the only Gators that accomplished anything on Friday. Plenty of other athletes on the women's team qualified for their events respective finals on Sunday.
In the 800 meter run, Cory McGee qualified for the finals with a time of 2:06.18 seconds. Junior Mandy Perkins' time of 2:08.72 seconds was just over a full-second away from the qualifying mark. In the 200 meter dash Darshay Davis easily qualified for her final on Sunday with a time of 23.89 seconds. Her overall time was good for fourth place in the prelims when factoring in the wind.
Ugonna Ndu and Amani Bryant both qualified for the finals on Sunday with times of 57.93 and 59.02 seconds respectively in the 400 meter hurdles.
More on the men's team and a small preview of Saturday's action after the jump.
Brittany Harrell In Third-Place In Heptathlon After Day One Of SEC Outdoor Championships
The lone Gator in action at the 2012 SEC Outdoor Championships on Thursday was Brittany Harrell. And as the Tweet above shows, she certainly made the most of it. Through four events in the heptathlon, Harrell is sitting in third-place with the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run remaining. All four of those events will take place on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.
As for the four events yesterday, well, let's just say that Harrell was near the top in every event.
In the 100 meter hurdles Harrell finished in fourth with a time 13.83 seconds. She picked up 1,003 points in that event and entered the high jump behind Keisha Wallace of Mississippi State (1,075 points), Kaylon Eppinger of Alabama (1,047 points) and Alex Gochenour of LSU (1,026 points).
Harrell would tie with Fabia McDonald of Mississippi for second-place in the high jump with a best distance of 1.76 meters. Harrell's second-place finish would give her 891 points in the event and move into second-place overall in the standings through two events.
Up next was the shot put and Harrell was able to claim a fifth-place finish with a best distance of 11.49 meters. The 627 points gained in this event were about 70 short of her goal and pushed the gap between her and Eppinger even further.
In the last event of the day however, Harrell was almost able to overcome her standings after the shot put. After a third-place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.98 seconds and 889 points wasn't quite enough to move Harrell up in the standings.
Harrell is currently in third-place overall with 3,140 total points. Also remember that scoring is also team-based and her prospective high finish will allow the women's track team to get off to a great start.
The action in Baton Rouge returns today at 12:30 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. The hammer throw is the first event of the Championships that aren't part of a multi-event score. Harrell will resume her action at just after 3:00 p.m. The first individual men's event (800 meter run prelims) is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
You can follow all of the results online as they happen courtesy of Delta Timing.
Florida Gators Track And Field In Cajun Country For SEC Outdoor Championships
The Florida Gators track and field teams will be in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the 2012 SEC Outdoor Championships that begin on Thursday and end Sunday. The No. 1 ranked men's team arrives as the favorite to win the SEC while the No. 4 ranked women's team is second-best (according to the rankings) to LSU in the SEC.
The SEC Outdoor Championships will be held on the Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the campus of LSU. Last year both the Gators men's and women's teams finished as the first loser, so hopefully there will be a little vengeance this time around the track.
Also of note, the men's team will be missing decathlete Gray Horn who is suspended because of an extracurricular drinking and driving habit. It remains to be seen if the Gators be able to overcome the loss a guaranteed 10 points though. I say guaranteed because Horn is the three-time defending champion in the decathlon at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
As always, schedule of events and viewing information after the jump.
10. Will Muschamp, Florida
Age: 40
2011 record: 7-6, 3-5
At Florida (1 year): 7-6
FBS career (1 year): 7-6Here’s what Will Muschamp walked into at Florida: a fan base that was uneasy about the hire, and one that ended up watching his first team struggle without its injured starting quarterback. What many didn’t see (or understand) is the utter mess left behind by former coach Urban Meyer. That will give Muschamp house money for a while, but—by his own admission—he must start winning games. If the Gators make a strong turn back this season toward the SEC elite, 2013 could be a big season on the back of three straight elite recruiting classes.
A BCS coach says: "At the end of the day, no one cares what he was left with by the former guy. We all say that—and it doesn’t do any good. Fans have a short memory, and believe me, so do university presidents."
Trending: Holding.
Matt Hayes of Sporting News ranks every single coach in the SEC from No. 1 (Nick Saban) to No. 14 (Derek Dooley).
Just some of my thoughts:
I think he's a little high on James Franklin (Vandy), Gary Pinkel (Mizzou), Gene Chizik (Auburn) and Kevin Sumlin (A&M). Mostly because those guys haven't been in the SEC before and/or they had one lucky year.
I also think he's a little low on Muschamp and Mullen (Miss State). The top 3-4 and bottom 3-4 are probably right, I'd just reorganize the middle.

1. Florida, 2009 (13-1): In a revenge-filled SEC championship game, eventual national champion Alabama drilled the Gators in Atlanta. The teams met for the second consecutive season in the Georgia Dome. In this case, the 31-13 drubbing would have cost the Gators a spot even in the Football Four as they slipped from No. 1 to No. 5. The four teams ahead of Florida – Bama, Texas, Cincinnati and TCU – were all undefeated in the regular season. Still, a great team lost out as the Tebow run ended.
5. Florida, 2001 (10-2): It's hard to remember the biggest controversy of this season was Colorado getting left out of the BCS championship game despite pounding No. 2 Nebraska. Florida, the preseason No. 1, was No. 2 going into the regular-season finale against Tennessee. Can't spell left out without UT which beat Florida 34-32. Tennessee blew its own title game berth by losing to LSU in the SEC championship game. Rex Grossman threw for 38 touchdowns for the last Steve Spurrier Florida team.
Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports ranks the best No. 5 teams from 1998 to 2011.
For my money though, I think that the 2001 Gators team was better than the 2009 team.

Will Muschamp still popular: I do like that Muschamp said he'd only be satisfied if the Gators were in Atlanta playing for the SEC Championship. I'd be pretty satisfied with that type of season as well. Pretty sure I'd consider that to be ahead of schedule also. (Hays Carlyon, The Florida Times-Union)
Ronald Powell progressing: At this point, the Gators are sticking to their 4-6 month recovery prognosis. However, don't be surprised if it is on the low-end. (Rachel George, Swamp Things/Orlando Sentinel)
Can the Gators contend for the SEC East?: I changed "should" for "can" because everybody likes questions more than statements, right? Jeopardy! -- Yes, it's been a long week already. (John Pennington, MrSEC)
Gators No. 25 in ESPN's early rankings: On their ballots, Chris Low had the Gators No. 22 and Edward Aschoff had the Gators at No. 25. There are a total of six SEC ranked and five of them are in the Top 10. Though Arkansas ranking was before their coaching change. (Chris Low, SEC Blog/ESPN)
Gators in NBA Playoffs: The stats are pretty much "meh" but at least some their teams are doing well. Though they're doing much better in the Eastern Conference. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)

Florida Gators Win A Combined Four Titles At 2012 Drake Relays
Yes, I know this post is a little late. I am sorry.
The Florida Gators men's and women's track and field teams strong start to the 2012 Drake Relays on Friday continued on Saturday as the teams combined to win four overall titles (three individual, one relay) throughout the course of the meet. Eddie Lovett, Jeremy Postin and Stipe Zunic all won individual titles for the men and Ciarra Brewer won the lone individual title on the women's team.
The Gators foursome of Dedric Dukes, Tony McQuay, Leonardo Seymore and Hugh Graham Jr. also won men's 4x400 meter relay. Their victory over second place Arkansas was by 0.06 seconds.
As always, important results after the jump.
Florida Gators Track And Field Heads To Des Moines, Iowa For 2012 Drake Relays
Despite the strong showing last week at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic, the men's team lost their top spot in the USTFCCCA poll. The rankings are heavily based on competition, so if you're searching for a reason, I guess that's it. The men head to Des Moines, Iowa ranked No. 2 and the women will arrive ranked No. 4.
The Drake Relays operate in much the same the Florida Relays or Texas Relays operate. There are athletes from colleges, universities, high schools and even the professional level competing for titles in their respective divisions. The meet is an important stop for the Gators this year because they're the second-to-last stop before the SEC Championships begin in Baton Rouge.
As always, schedule of events and meet information after the jump.
Florida Gators Track And Field Dominates Tom Jones Memorial Classic (As Expected)
The Florida Gators track and field teams continued their strong outdoor season Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic. Not even the rain storm that arrived mid-action and suspended all activities for more than two hours could slow down the No. 1 (men's) and No. 7 (women's) ranked Gator teams.
This is shaping up to be one heck of an outdoor season.
The Gators racked up a grand total of twelve individual or relay titles (seven by the men's team, five by the women's team), highlighted by yet another Jeff Demps 100 meter dash first-place finish. This time Demps crossed the line with a time of 10.19 seconds. The Gators were also the top collegiate finishers in pretty much every single event, but with the Tom Jones Memorial Classic being an open event, there were plenty of "sponsored" or "team" athletes out there who took home individual titles.
After the jump we'll take a look at not only just the results from Saturday, but take a quick look at upcoming 2012 Drake Relays which take place April 25-28th in Des Moines, Iowa.
Florida Gators Track And Field Readies For Tom Jones Memorial Classic
The Florida Gators track and field teams will be in action today at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic. As we said last time we got together to talk track and field, the Tom Jones Memorial Classic is a big-deal in Gainesville, Florida. The men's team will enter the meet ranked No. 1 in the country (266.06 points) and the women's team will enter ranked No. 7 (186.14 points).
The Gators will compete alongside athletes from Bethune-Cookman, Brown, UCF, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida Tech, McKendree, Ohio State and Tampa. Also in the field will be former Gators track and field standouts Will Claye and Christian Taylor. Both Claye and Taylor will be using the event as a tune-up to the 2012 Olympic Team Trials or to qualify directly to the summer Olympics this year in London, England.
After the the jump, the schedule of events and viewing information.
"It was just a silly mistake," Walker said after his court appearance. "I apologize to everybody. I'm embarrassed about it. That's not me. I'm just trying to put it behind me and move on."
Erving Walker's taco heist cost him $301. He has to pay the fine by September 27th.

The Swamp getting a mini-makeover: $15 million in improvements to a variety of athletic buildings and yet no indoor practice facility. I know I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but I can't stress how important one is. Without one for much longer, it could get ugly folks. (Jesse Simonton, Inside The Gators)

Billy Donovan to coach USA Basketball: Donovan was tabbed to be the head coach of USA Basketball's 2012 FIBA America's U18 Championship team. Shaka Smart and Mark Few will be the assistant coaches. (Rachel George, Orlando Sentinel)
Meyer gone, but not forgotten: I fear that we're going to have to keep talking about him until we win another National Championship. And yes, talking about Meyer has gotten rather boring. Actually, talking about him has been boring for about a year now. (Chris Low, SEC Blog/ESPN)
New SEC schedule format to be decided in summer: Not really all that surprising. (Rachel George, Swamp Things/Orlando Sentinel)
Tax Day dues and deductions for the Gators: It's a pretty funny read throughout. As you might have expected, the Gators are due a return to a Top 10 finish and can deduct bail costs. Georgia's yeah, another easy schedule for them and Tennessee's is just sad. (John Pennington, MrSEC)
Alabama's BCS National Championship gets shattered: At least we aren't the only one. Thanks again Orson Charles. Which begs the question: Would you rather someone accidentally break the trophy or have them stolen during a renovation? The latter happened to Florida State in 2004. (Chase Goodbread, Tide Sports)

Florida Gators Have Seven Commits Ranked In First 2013 ESPNU 150
The Gators swing out of the gates with a rather impressive number. I'm sure Lance will be along shortly with a proper rundown, but for now:
No. 18: Caleb Brantley
No. 22: Kelvin Taylor
No. 38: Daniel McMillian
No. 44: Ahmad Fulwood
No. 58: Nick Washington
No. 64: Keanu Neal
No. 109: Quinton Powell
Not bad at all. There are also plenty of others in the 150 that the Gators have a great shot at.
As always, for comparison:
FSU has three players listed.
Georgia has six players.
Alabama has six players.
Tennessee has none.

You know what I mean. I'm always right, subject lines are pointless, Steve Spurrier is the greatest college football coach ever, the Gators were right to cancel the Miami series, an indoor practice facility is a must, Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the greatest video game ever... that kind of stuff.
If you choose to disagree with any of those statements or disregard the rules, be prepared to reap the whirlwind. Because you know, we lay the smackdown around here a lot.
As they say in NASCAR: "Have at it boys." (and Danica.)

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.
Muschamp optimistic about Lerentee McCray, Nick Alajajian has wrist surgery: McCray is pretty much the first guy in the rotation for BUCK, and Alajajian is out six weeks. Even though both guys are banged up they're expected to be ready for the fall. (Scott Carter, GatorZone)
Recruits confident: Leadership, passion and heading in the right direction. (Zach Abolverdi, The Gainesville Sun)
Janoris Jenkins hopefull: Jenkins is more of a "let's forget about the past and focus on the future" type of guy. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Robert Klemko, USA Today)
UCF shuts-out softball 2-0: The Gators had as many hits as UCF had runs. The softball Gators fall to 35-5. (Special to GatorSports, The Gainesville Sun)
Baseball defeats FSU: Lost in the news of Ronald Powell's injury and a transfer, the Gators defeated the Seminoles 6-3 on Tuesday night to complete the season sweep. It's the first sweep for the Gators over the 'Noles since 1958. (Staff, Florida Today)

Chomping At Bits: Ronald Powell Photograph; Qustions After Orange And Blue Debut
Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.
Ronald Powell picture: It's an extremely unfortunate injury and yes, the moment was captured by photographer David Carr. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)
Questions after spring game: This is exactly what it is, a fan's take. It's not really a whole lot different from what we've said or things that are common knowledge, but at least it's football talk. (Mike Spain, Yahoo! Sports)
Chris Rainey, Detroit Lion?: Rainey is an Urban Meyer guy. If there is one thing Meyer did right, it's teach importance of special teams. (Anwar S. Richardson, MLive.com)
Meyer denies report: Meyer said that he never would cast Florida in a negative light. Right. (Staff, Sun Herald)
Bobby Petrino out at Arkansas: Because nobody ever saw that marriage ending badly. (Stephen Expat, Arkansas Expats)

Chomping At Bits: Florida Gators Get Another Commitment; Who Replaces Ronald Powell?
Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.
Cameron Dillard picks Gators: The three-star offensive lineman is the fourth player to verbally commit to the Gators following the Orange and Blue Debut. I'm sure Lance will have more on Dillard as soon as possible. (Staff, The Florida Times-Union)
More on Dillard and the class of 2013 so far: At this point the class still slants towards the defense, but the offense has some serious firepower. (Jason Lieser, Gator Bytes/The Palm Beach Post)
WR Carlos Burse enjoys UF: The four-star receiver (6' 2" 194lbs) loves Brent Pease and Jacoby Brissett. Oh, and Aubrey Hill is his primary recruiter. After his second visit to Gainesville, let's see if Hill can earn that paycheck. (Zach Abolverdi, Gator Prospectus/The Gainesville Sun)
Three possible replacements for Ronald Powell: Lerentee McCray, Gideon Ajagbe and Dante Fowler Jr., are among the group of players who have the talent (on paper, some film) to replace RoPo on an interim basis. Personally, I think McCray gets first shot at it. (Rachel George, Swamp Things/Orlando Sentinel)
Norm Roberts leaves UF, also heads to Kansas: Any guesses on who replaces him on Billy Donovan's staff? (Jason Lieser, Gator Bytes/The Palm Beach Post)
Baseball plays No. 1 Florida State tonight: The Gators dropped to No. 7 (BA) and No. 4 ESPN/USA Today) after losing five of their last seven. Hopefully, their hex over the Seminoles continues tonight. The game is at 6:00 p.m. ET and is available on ESPN3.com. (Rachel George, Swamp Things/Orlando Sentinel)
Another on Urban Meyer: This time our favorite Sentinel writer chimes in with his opinion. (Mike Bianchi, Open Mike/Orlando Sentinel)

Florida Gators Track And Field Holds Form In Final Day Of Pepsi Florida Relays
The 2012 Pepsi Florida Relays is in the books, and the Florida Gators (men's) backed up their claim as the No. 1 ranked track and field team in resounding fashion.
Max Lang led things off for the Gators' men's team and finished eleventh in the pole vault with a height of 5.00 meters. While not his best performance, Lang's overall height is still pretty good. Kyle Mailloux on the other hand, finished tied for last (twenty second-place) with a final height of 4.60 meters.
Omar Craddock quickly proceeded to right the Gators' ship by finishing second overall in the triple jump. His jump of 16.71 meters was only bested by Aarik Wislon of Team Indiana Elite. Craddock therefore was the highest overall collegiate performer.
Dwight Barbiasz finished in seventh-place in the high jump with a best of 2.10 meters. In the same event, Ryan Summers failed to place due to not making the required first height of 2.00 meters in three tries.
As for the relay events: the 4x100 meter team finished second, the 4x400 meter team finished sixth and 4x800 meter team finished ninth. The 4x100 meter team consisted of Jeff Demps, Tony McQuay, Leonardo Seymore and Dedric Dukes. The 4x400 meter team was Dukes, McQuay, Seymore and Jovon Toppin. The 4x800 meter team contained John Mitchell, Daniel Wehunt, Tyler Cardillo and Sean Obinwa as the anchor.
As always (well, lately), the women's results and a small preview of next meet's action after the jump.
