Buffalo Rumblings Lynch & Spiller = Thunder & Lightning

Just thinking out loud here ...

I know we all love Freddie Jackson, but why not trade Jackson and keep Lynch & Spiller?  They would make a great thunder & lightning tandem.  And Jackson, albeit older, has more trade value because everyone (including the Bills Brass) is irrationally down on Marshawn for one off-year and an overblown character problem.  Why not wake up, realize that Marshawn could easily go back to being the great back he was destined to be, trade the highly-valued Jackson and exploit the market inefficiency?

Of course, contemplating this scenario requires thinking outside of the box, which the Bills tend not to do...

Buffalo Rumblings Optimism v. Criticism

It's time for Bills fans to stop being so nice.  After Trent's performance this Sunday, too many fans are coming to his defense, arguing: (1) blame AVP; (2) blame T.O. for being distracted; or (3) don't worry, we've only played three games, Trent will come around!  In other words: Be optimistic!

Optimism is fine, but as fans we shouldn't let our optimism prevent us from being critical.  In fact, as Bills fans, it's our job to be critical, because we're dealing with an organization that is committed to mediocre talent, that is unwilling to take risks (exception: T.O.), and that hasn't demonstrated the passionate, "win-or-die" attitude that it takes to succeed in the NFL.  This culture of complacency has kept us in a playoff-less rut for far too long.  The Bills organization needs an attitude adjustment; the fans play an essential role in changing the culture.  If the fans aren't critical, impatient, and desperate for a win, then of course Bills Brass will never be.  (And, if we're going to err, it's better to err on the side of being too critical than being too optimistic.)

For example, after the Pats game, rather than showering Trent with adulation, we should've asked: What percentage of his performance could be attributed to Jackson's YAC?  Did Trent show that he has a arm?  After the Bucs game, we should've asked: Are four deep balls enough to prove that he's no longer Captain Checkdown?  (Only two of the four deep balls were on target; Lee's TD was off -- a false positive.)

That being said, he's all that we have right now.  Hopefully AVP stays true to his word and draws up more creative ways to open up the passing game.

Buffalo Rumblings If McKelvin's injured, why not McGee as KR?

Why did Omon, rather than McGee, sub in for McKelvin?  If McKelvin isn't healthy by next week, isn't McGee our best option for KR?  If not, is the explanation that we're not willing to risk injuring him?  I'm honestly curious.  It was only a couple years ago when McGee was one of the best returners in the league.  And judging him as a CB, it doesn't appear that he's lost a step.  Hopefully someone will enlighten me!
