Tyler Myers Suspension
Today as you all know by now Brendan Shanahan suspended Tyler Myers 3 games for the boarding penalty against Scott Gomez. Not surprisingly most of the reaction around here has been pretty strongly against this decision, with many accusing Shanahan of being inconsistent with his punishments. I wanted to look into this a little further by comparing the Myers penalty and suspension with similar ones from this season.
Malcolm Gladwell Grantland article
This is not a Sabres or even a hockey link, but I found it very interesting how the article relates to the current and former Sabres owners.
Miller not on plane
Contrary to earlier reports, Miller did not join the Sabres on their way to D.C. Does this fuel speculation that the injury might be more serious than first thought, possibly bringing the "C" word into play? On the one hand, players w/ concussions are advised not to fly right away. On the other, Ruff said it was a short term injury. This could be a blessing in disguise for the Sabres IF they make the playoffs and IF Miller is well rested and ready to go in the 1st round. Or, it could mean a quick end to the season. We'll just have to see.
Who will score the first SH goal?
Just for S&G: So far through 15 games, the Buffalo Sabres have scored zero short-handed goals (they've given up two, one to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the other to the Montreal Canadiens). My question to you is, which Sabre do you think will score the first? Will it be a defenseman or forward? I'm tempted to go Myers, but I'll stick with my gut and say Pommers. I tried to include only those who get significant short-handed minutes.

That's disrespect yo
All that being said, I think the Bruins can get healthy, regroup, and actually win the Northeast Division, which is the weakest in hockey with no elite teams. Buffalo will be the biggest challenge, and the Bruins have to be careful the Sabres don't build too big of a lead.
That was from the latest Buccigross mailbag at espn.com. Can't believe he thinks the Northeast is worse than the Southeast. They should put this up in the locker room.
