FSU fans better start showing Jimbo Fisher some love before it's too late

49

While I usually avoid reading any of Bianchi's usual self serving sensationalistic drek that he tries to pass off as journalism, this one, I felt, was worth posting. This is one I think all the "we can do better" Nole fans should read and think about, because you just might get what you wish for. "This should have been cause for celebration among Seminole fans everywhere. The coach who has led them back to national prominence, who has guided them to the first conference title in seven years, who has choreographed the first 11-win season in a dozen years, WANTS to be in Tallahassee. This is the best news to hit FSU since Chief Osceola stuck a flaming spear in Jeff Bowden's playbook. But instead of celebration, there has been a collective yawn from Seminole Nation, who like so many unrealistic college football fan bases today seem perpetually bored and miserable unless their team is playing for the national championship. Hopefully, FSU fans will realize before it's too late that Jimbo Fisher is a coach to be appreciated, not taken for granted."

FSU’s Devonta Freeman's Special Relationship With Luther Campbell

Running back Devonta Freeman already has been through a lot in his young life, but he credits the guidance of Luther Campbell for keeping him on the path that currently finds him starring for Florida State. Click here for the full story.

Florida State built to beat Alabama, but on outside looking in

3

One team whose coach knows the Alabama system—and Tide coach Nick Saban—better than anyone. One team modeled after the machine Saban built, for the specific purpose of beating the best of the SEC to win it all. But they’ll never get the chance to show it. "Our goal right now is to get better every week," says Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. "That’s where we are."

FSU Ready to Break Ground On New Indoor Practice Facility

14

Groundbreaking on the building, which when completed will house more than 100,000 square feet of indoor practice space for Florida State's football team, is set to begin after the conclusion of the regular season, although it could be pushed back a week to account for the Seminoles' potential appearance in the ACC championship game. Construction costs are estimated at about $12.7 million, with pledges from donors covering the costs, and the hope is that the facility will be ready for use when Florida State opens fall camp next August.

FSU vs NCST: Is It Déjà Vu All Over Again?

A familiar stage has been set up for the FSU vs. NCST game at Carter-Finley this Saturday. An eerily similar stage.

3rd Year In Culture Shift Has Florida State Poised For Big Things

27

"Fault the Seminoles for many things, but one thing that was done fairly well in Bowden's final days was the wagons were circled and the infighting amongst the players and coaches was largely hidden away from public consumption where it could truly damage the program. To this day, it's difficult to ascertain all the politics that played out between regimes and incoming and outgoing coaches as the writing was ultimately scribbled on the wall midseason that 2009 would be the last year in a legendary coaching career. Instead you're left with momentary glimpses, flashes between scenes where the curtains were pulled back and you could catch a fleeting glance of the inner-workings behind it all. On Saturday September 26th, 2009, one of those moments occurred when USF handed Florida State an embarrassing 17-7 defeat at Doak Campbell Stadium. It was arguably the loss that got the wheels turning on Bowden's exit and it was indicative of the massive culture problem that Jimbo Fisher inherited when he took the reins of this Seminole team three years ago." Ex-employee details how Hurricanes program unraveled in scandal

13

Until now, Sean "Pee Wee" Allen has never gone on the record about his involvement with the Nevin Shapiro scandal at Miami. It was Allen whom Shapiro told Yahoo! he gave more than $200,000 in cash and checks for direct payouts to UM players in addition to funding strip-club visits, meals and other improper benefits. This week, Allen agreed to speak with CBSSports.com about, among other things, his role in the scandal; how he became "a middle man" in the recruiting process after Al Golden took over in Miami and how he tried to lie his way out of all of it to the NCAA. According to Allen, he has spent almost 13 hours being interviewed by NCAA investigators on several different occasions. Those 13 hours don't include his three-hour deposition in Shapiro's federal bankruptcy case, where Allen admitted that he provided improper benefits to Miami football players. Allen told CBSSports.com that when he arrived with his attorney to give his deposition in December, 2011, he was "shocked" to see an NCAA investigator in the room. Allen says his attorney had the guy leave the room, but in reality, that didn't make a difference because the NCAA, he suspects, had already given Shapiro's attorney questions to ask him. The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power, as Allen realized. And now he was under oath.

VIDEO: Lorenzo Booker's 105-Yard Touchdown Return Is Awesome

Watch where the Redskins defendes are when he starts his return. It looks like there's no chance for a lengthy return. But somehow he jukes at least three Redskins defenders to break free.

FSU's Jacobbi McDaniel Talks Redshirt

49
"If the team needs me I'll come back," said McDaniel. "But if they don't, there's no sense in coming back [too soon], you know that's something I have learned over my years here is being a disciplined person and player. So if they need me I'll come back, but if not I'll just redshirt and take that year to get strong, get better. "But if they need me I won't hesitate." ... "I'm just going to do everything right," said McDaniel. "It's Florida State man, there's always going to be other people coming in competing and if you know me I love to compete. The only thing holding me back was the injury, I'm going to do what I've got to do and just keep on going."

Vic Viloria, The Man Behind FSU Strength and Conditioning

3
"Having a receiver squat 5,000 times at 5,000 pounds over and over probably wasn't the best thing for him. But we did it anyway because 'that was football,'" Viloria said somewhat sarcastically. "But the research has been done, the data is there. Coach Fisher has allowed us to use the information and allowed us to do more research in training our players." Viloria is very quick to credit Fisher with creating the kind of environment that has allowed him and his staff more flexibility in training players. It all starts with getting away from some of the more conventional ideas associated with weightlifting. "The big infatuation with the number on the bar, on the weights," said Violoria. "That has lead to a lot injuries in high school and college and the NFL, because our athletes today want to bench press 500 pounds, want to squat 500 pounds, or they want to clean a ton amount of weight."
