Why is everyone dancing?
Is it me or does it seem like they made everyone who was drafted dance for them... Its kinda fruity and its getting on my nerves. As soon as someone gets drafted you see them on the right side of the screen two stepping and doing a little jig. What happened to looking like a tough football player. I know its stupid its just getting on my nerves and i was wondering if anyone else noticed this and if was bothering anyone else
McCoy/Westbrook

I've heard a lot of people already putting Lesean McCoy down (not just on BGN). Now im sure he has his supporters, but he is also following up one of the best runningbacks in Eagles history which is similar to the Kolb/Mcnabb situation. It is way to early to say whether or not he is gonna be a stud or not. Just because he didnt break down the door like AP or Chris Johnson does not mean he can not turn into a top teir running back. Im actually very optimistic and i think he is gonna get better each game. I looked up his stats and compared them to westbrooks second season (it seemed obvious that westbrook did not get much playing time his rookie season) and this is what i came up with:
Rushing:
Westbrook: Attempts: 117 Yards: 613 Average: 5.2 TD: 7
McCoy: Attempts: 155 Yards: 637 Average: 4.1 TD: 4
Receiving:
Westbrook: Receptions: 37 Yards: 332 Average: 9.0 TD: 4
McCoy: Receptions: 40 Yards: 308 Average: 7.7 TD: 0
As you can see McCoy's numbers dont look that bad compared to Westbrook. You also have to take into consideration that these stats are Westbrooks second season. We will have a really good idea of what we have in McCoy after this season and I believe that if he will ever be a top teir running back then we will know by the end of this season. He seems to have all the same intangibles as Westbrook and although he will never be Westbrook, I think he has the potential to be better.
We should trade Vick, and Asante to Oakland for Nnamdi

I just read an article on GCOBB that was about Sheldon Brown ripping Asante. Sheldon says how players came in from other teams and ruined the chemistry our team had, and he also went on to say that Mcdermott told players to move up in press technique and tackle. Asante refused to listen and continued to play off the receivers. The article also pointed out how Asante's refusal to listen was a major factor in the second Dallas game because they were running quick screens and Asante continued to play off his man. Now, being that Oakland is obviously in the market for a quarterback, and if my memory serves me well, was mentioned in Michael Vick rumors at one point, why dont we try and trade Vick and Asante for Nnamdi. I would love to see this happen. Thoughts? And lets be real, Im really just holding out hope that we can pull off a trade to get the best cornerback in the league...... All the talk with Mcnabb had me begging for this to happen.
Pay Sheldon
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that we have yet to give sheldon a pay increase. Being that we are one of the richest teams in the league, along with our lack of participation in free agency, AND Sheldon being a top 10 corner in the NFL why the hell hasnt this man been paid yet ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Eagles are rumored to be eyeing Restriced Free Agents
via static.nfl.com
I read on the Eagles web site that there are rumors we are testing the Restricted free agent market. If you dont know, restricted free agents come with the price of a new contract plus giving up the "tendered" draft picks which are negotiable. They say we have interest in Minnesota Vikings Defensive End, Ray Edwards. He put up good numbers last year, but its a little tough to ignore how much of an impact playing on a defensive line with Jared Allen, and the Williams brothers could have made. Here is a list of restricted free agents. Some of these players may have already been sent to another team or locked up by their existing team, its just to give you an idea of who some of these players are.... Who would you like to see us go after? If any.

Are there any guys on here you would like to see us pick up?
The wild Eagle has ran its course
Am I the only person who thinks that every time Vick steps on the feild that it is simply a waste of a down? This is really getting old already. Now im not sure if the problem here is that Vick just doesnt have the play making ability that he use to or if Andy is not using Vick properly. It just seems like every time he steps on the feild that we are lucky to gain 3 yards and we also waste a down EVERY time! He looks horrible every time he throws the ball. When Vick is out there i feel like i know what to expect every time, If he runs the ball or gives it to someone else to run we will gain 3 yards tops, and if he passes the ball dont expect it to be anywheres near the receiver. Im not gonna sit here and say that when we first signed him that i did think even if only for a moment that in some way he could help our team and make us that much more dangerous, but now its becoming more and more obvious that in NOOO way has he helped our team. I think the only way he will ever help our team is after we trade him next year and get a good draft pick. The only people who are really effective in the wild eagle so far this year are Desean Jackson and LeSean McCoy. Let me get some of your thoughts on Vick and our wasted downs.
Replay of the Destruction of Dallas on NFL Network Now
via static.nfl.com
Ahhhhh yes. Right now on the NFL Network is the replay of the Destruction of Dallas which got us into the playoffs last year. I was at this game and it was honestly the best Eagles game I have ever been to in my entire life. I remember taking my time getting into the game because there were so many people in the parking lot watching the Bears and the Bucs loose which than left our fate in our hands. I walked into that game more excited than any other game I have ever been to. This game felt like the superbowl!!!!!! And watching this right now has me so hype for the season which is rapidly approaching. Even though Im noticing how good of a game bucky had and thinking about what its gonna be like to not have B Dawk back there, I am still excited because we have so many new players this year who could make a huge impact and not to mention, Desean in his second year!!!!!!!! E A G L E S EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about this Veteran Running Back....??
I know with all the Westbrook surgery talk many people are trying to come up with veteran candidates to help out in our backfield. Although I am optimistic that Westbrook will be ready by the start of the season, I would not mind the addition of a veteran for a little insurance. Yesterday on GCOOB.com I read an article where he called out the Eagles on how this situation could be similar to the kick returning problem two years ago and the full back problem last year. I hope he is wrong and this does not turn out like either of those two years, but the possibility of this being a problem does exist. In my opinion the best candidate for the job is none other than Correll Buckhalter! He knows the system and he is a seasoned veteren. The only problem with this guy is ........ We let him walk in free agency !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so mad right over the loss of him I cant even begin to explain. When he first left I was not too concerned becasue I assumed Westbrook was healthy and I knew we would draft a running back to help with the carries. But with the situation we are now facing, I'm wondering if many of you are as mad as me that we let him go. I know he wanted to go some where and be the #1 ruuning back, but we all know that money talks and if the Eagles offered him a significant amount to stay, he would have had no problem doing so.
Pisa Tinoisamoa scheduled to visit with Eagles
According to ffmastermind.com Pisa Tinoisamoa is Scheduled to visit with our Philadelphia Eagles. This is an extremely productive linebacker who could solidify our linebacking corps since last year they lost faith in Gaither and went with Jordan. They actually seemed to be swopping the two here in there so to me it seems as if they do not feel like the job belongs to either one of them on a regular basis. This guy is in the prime of his career and would be such a great addition. Here is the article which is posted on the site about this....
-- Pisa Tinoisamoa Has Three Primary Options --
Tue May 19, 2009 --from FFMastermind.comESPN's Tim Graham reports the Buffalo Bills still are in the running for LB Pisa Tinoisamoa, a league source has said. Tinoisamoa, cut by the St. Louis Rams because new HC Steve Spagnuolo wants bigger linebackers, visited the Bills last week. Tinoisamoa is scheduled to visit the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles next week and then choose the best fit among the three suitors. Tinoisamoa led the Rams in tackles four of his six seasons. He recorded 135 last year, with three sacks and two forced fumbles.
And here are his Career Statistics.............

I won a Desean Jackson Jersey!
Ok I know many of you may not care about this post but im pretty excited about it since i never win anything! I have to thank the guy who made the post about the "So you think you know Desean Jackson" game on the Philadelphia Eagles website. I played it today and I won an Autographed Desean Jackson Jersey. There are 25 of each prize listed on the site and the jersey was the best prize so I am really excited and not many people I know would really care which is why I am sharing this with my fellow bleedinggreen nation homeys.
Sports Hernia strikes AGAIN!!!!
Darren Howard has become the latest victim of our infamous sports hernia cases in Philly. This thing is starting to spread faster than swine flu! Foos05 wrote an article a few months ago on this same topic. Since then Darren Howard has become the latest victim and Kevin Curtis has had to undergo another surgery to completely fix his hernia. Here is the article written by foos05 on the sports hernia which tells you about all of the other Eagles who have came into contact with the Philly swine flu.....
Sports Hernia: What's the Deal? foos05
I was reading part two of Spadaro's interview with Andy Reid on PE.com this morning. Just like part one, it was some pretty vanilla stuff covering issues that we already know existed. Of course, a question about the quality of our wide receivers popped up. Andy gave a very general answer, as always, and that's fine. The one aspect of his answer that stood out to me was the way he addressed Jason Avant. He seems to be very high on young Jason, and I can understand why. However, the part that stood out was the mention of Avant having sports hernia last year. This hit me a little bit, as I was unaware of it.We should all know what sports hernia is at this point, but if you don't, it's a situation that occurs in the lower abdomen. The muscles or tendons in the lower wall weaken and allow a pouch to form. As we should all know by now, the treatement for this is surgery. Depending on the severity, surgery can be a simple snip and sew situation, or in McNabb's and Curtis' case, meshing is inserted to strengthen the area.
The recovery period from this type of injury is about six to eight weeks, but in all honesty, full recovery can take almost twice as long. To be honest, I don't think I ever heard of this type of injury until McNabb, and now it seems like we see atleast one player every year on the Eagles wtih it, but I don't see the same trend around the NFL. Since 2005, McNabb, LJ Smith, Curtis, and now Avant have had this surgery. Seems odd that there's such a large concentration here and not everywhere else.
Now on the most recent cases of Darren Howard, and Kevin Curtis (for the second time) here are two articles documenting their contact with the virus.....
-- Darren Howard Healthy --
Wed May 6, 2009 --from FFMastermind.comThe Philadelphia Inquirer reports it appears Eagles DL Darren Howard has recovered from January surgery to repair a sports hernia. He participated in all five practices over the weekend without a problem.

-- Kevin Curtis to be Ready in June --
Sat May 2, 2009 --from FFMastermind.comThe Philadelphia Inquirer reports Eagles WR Kevin Curtis (sports hernia surgery) sat out the first day of the Eagles' minicamp Friday and won't practice at least until next month's voluntary workouts as he recovers from sports hernia surgery performed last month. In August, Curtis had initial surgery to partially correct the injury. He missed the first six games of the season and returned by late October. But off-season rehabilitation didn't fully heal the problem, and Curtis went under the knife on April 15. "It's been a couple of weeks, and it feels really good," Curtis said. "I'm sure I'll be ready in June."
So what is going on here????????? I read NFL news on a daily basis and I honestly have seen more cases in Philly alone than the entire NFL combined ! So there is obviously a problem here whether it be the training or the conditiong. For the past few years many people have expressed their desire for changes in the front office. Maybe its not the front office that needs an overhaul, its begining to look more like our Physical Training staff needs to be replaced ! Thoughts or concerns anyone? This is a real danger for our team year in and year out and it can strike at anytime. We need a vaccination fast before our younger players become infected!

Everywhere You Look, Good things said
It seems like since this past Sunday, no matter where you look, ESPN, NFL Network, etc., nothing but good things are being said about our Birds. I am loving every second of this I must admit. For some reason it seems like everything is coming together. I made a post a while ago talking about how mad I was that Dawk left and in that post I noted that we lost Lito Shepard, L.J. Smith, Brian Dawkins, Jon Runyan, Trae Thomas, Correll Buckhalter, and Greg Lewis. After their departures, the only person we added was Stacey Andrews. At that time I was hurt by the Dawkins thing, confused about how we could loose so many GREAT players with no way to replace them, and feeling hopeless. Well, God must have heard my prayers because somehow not only were we able to replace ALL of those positions, we actually upgraded pretty much all of them. I am Brain Dawkins biggest fan, but I have done research on Sean Jones since he is suppose to replace my favorite player and he should be a solid replacement. He has two seasons with 5 interceptions which is more than Dawkins ever had in a single season and his tackle totals are equal to Dawkins as well. I am not bad mouthing Dawkins here all im saying is that we may have found a replacement for his on the feild production (never leadership). Even McNabb has recently expressed his excitement for the team, which to me was surprising because I really thought the contract issue could get worse. And now even Sheldon is sounding like his old self! I know the Sheldon thing is still an issue, but what he said today was reassuring that he will not let this effect his play on the feild. I feel like no matter how you look at things our team is better than it was last season and somehow we made it to the NFC Championship game last year. I have to give credit where credit is do, and that is to our much loved Front Office. Somehow they turned the worst offseason into one of the best in Eagles history. Im happy to know that we have a better chance than many teams to make it to the Super Bowl. So lets go EAGLES!!!!!!!!
McCoy, Maclin, Now just give me Coffman
via i.cdn.turner.com
via okledokle.files.wordpress.com
via i.cdn.turner.com
I wrote a post a while ago titled "Would you draft Jason Witten" I was comparing Chase Coffman to Jason Witten in that post. I really think he could end up being the best tight end in the draft. Now with us having his teammate Maclin, I think the pick makes even more sense. I really think our wide receivers will be top notch now with the addition of Maclin and I also think McCoy will fit in great here with how good he is catching the ball out of the backfeild. Even though Celek is gonna be our starter, if we draft Coffman and Celek has a slow start this year than we could get to see him get some playing time and if he is good as I think he might be than he would surpass Celek just like Desean did last year. I was listening to GCOBB on 610 and he said that Andy knew Coffmans father who played in the NFL for GreenBay. I really like the idea of getting Coffman even more than I did a month ago now that we got Maclin. If we do draft him than I honestly wouldnt be that concerned who else we get in the draft since all the others I was hoping for are already gone or out of the question now (William Moore, Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Robiske, Hakeem Knicks,Shonn Greene, Rashad Jennings) So hopefully I will get my last wish..... Here are some Highlights
Well we got our WR... Jeremy Maclin
Everyone begged for us to get a receiver and we got one..... Just not the one everyone expected or wanted. We just have to be patient because he could turn out to be the best in the draft. One thing everyone needs to remember is that, Braylon, Boldin, and Ocho were all drafted players, they werent created out of thin air so we have to wait and see if he becomes what we all hope he can be
Screw Gonzo we got Eugene Bright!
I dont know why everyone is so mad about not getting Gonzo, we singned Eugene Bright today. Here is what was said on FFootballmastermind.com...........
-- Eagles Sign One --
Thu Apr 23, 2009 --from FFMastermind.comAP reports the Philadelphia Eagles have signed TE Eugene Bright.
They kept it simple since there wasnt much to say about the guy. And here is what Profootballtalk had to say about it...................
Meanwhile, the Eagles signed a local tight end, Eugene Bright, a native of Rosemont, Pa.
Bright, who played defensive end at Purdue, played tight end and strong safety in high school. After going undrafted last year, Bright didn’t play in the NFL last season.
So I dont know what all the fuss is about not going after Gonzo, you people have to have a little more faith in our Front office. Just when you think they made a mistake........BAM!!!! They show everyone why they are the best in the NFL at finding talent at a position for the cheapest price around! Just call us walmart cause we always get "rollback" prices on players. And as far as us failing to outbid the Falcons for Gonzo, this was on FFMastermind.com about our "interest"
-- Eagles Source: Team Not Eyeing Gonzo --
Thu Apr 23, 2009 --from FFMastermind.comThe Philadelphia Inquirer reports an Eagles source shot down an SI.com report yesterday that said the Eagles were in pursuit of TE Tony Gonzalez, 33, a 10-time Pro Bowler and likely Hall of Famer. "Not in it," the source said.
So all the talk about us "dropping the ball" on this shouldnt even exist, cause we didnt even try to pick up the ball. Im not really mad about not getting Gonzo yet, I am waiting till after the draft to see what we do. After the Eagles fail to do anything specific that im hoping for such as: Boldin, Braylon, Ocho, and certain players in the draft, thats when I'll begin to get pissed off and curse them out .
Ok well enough of all that, time to meet our new ......????? Im not sure what we got this guy for or what position he will play but here is a pic and a profile from a Purduesports.com

If we get Boldin.... its a rap
Yeah thats right I said it, if we get Boldin its a Rap. They might as well print out the superbowl shirts and hats now. Im not saying that we need him everyone so please spare me of the comments on how we dont need him and why would we give up so much for him. If we got Boldin there would be nothing worth using a first rounder on. I said yesterday how we really need to get a RB in the first round, but if we got Boldin I would be fine with getting one in a later round. If he doesnt work out we can always get one next year and Im sure Westbreezy can get the job done by himself for one more year. Its not impossible either, look what we did in 2004 when we got Kearse and T.O., that was two big contracts. This year we were in the top half of teams with the most cap space and Peters is the only player we gave a big deal to. All the other players were not big money deals so we really can afford him still. I know all of this is wishful thinking but its not impossible. I just have a hard time finding a serious immediate need that we must use our first rounder for. You have all said recently how running backs can be found in the later rounds so why not do this? And many of you may be rolling your eyes right now and are gonna say how you were waiting for this post but I am not saying that we need Boldin. What Im saying is I really think we have a better team than last year and we made it to the NFC championship game with that team. But if we got Boldin ! OMG it really would be a rap. So please no comments on how we dont need him and he is too expensive, spare me. I know we dont need him and using that first rounder on Boldin will be much more productive than any player that we will get in the draft whether you like it or not..... So heres to wishfull thinking!
Is anyone else sick of Tom Heckert?
via delcostello.net
Ok if there is one guy on the Philadelphia Eagles I would love to see go it would be Tom Heckert. I am so sick of this guy ! He never makes any sense when he talks and he always thinks he knows something that no one else seems to know. Let me shed some light on my reasoning..... Lets start with the most recent coments about how we do not really need to use a first round pick on a running back. Well Tommy let me give you some recent examples of the last time you used this philosophy....... Tony Hunt, Ryan Moats.... Now last time I checked neither of those two guys are wearing our jersey anymore. Next, the whole Dawkins thing..........in a video that I will post at the bottom he says how we would love to have him back. I know its his job to say things like that but it still makes me mad to hear him say that, and then we really dont do what we need to do to keep a guy who "we would love to have back and should retire an Eagle." Now here is the best of them all........Anquan Boldin. This whole thing has yet to play out but I have a feeling that I know what the ending is going to be. In this interview with Anthony Gargano, at about 9 minutes into it Anthony brings up Anquan and the posibility of him "shaking loose" in the near future. Heckert responds by saying that "we are not against receivers and if someone like Anquan became available that we would not be opposed to going after them.....hell, we did it with T.O.!" So right now I am patiently waiting for this guy to eat his words again...... He pretty much said we would go after Anquan, and this video is a few months old so lets see if he puts his money where his mouth is (literally). Im just so sick of even hearing him talk and I feel like Jeff Lurie knows more about football than him.

Would you take Jason Whitten in this years draft?
Would you take Jason Whitten in this years draft? As Eagles fans we all know what Jason Whitten is capable of, and I know that as much as we all hate him because he is a Dallas Cowboy if he was wearing an Eagles Jersey we would all love to have him. The point here is that as i read the comments posted under the "Chase Coffman visiting Eagles" post, I saw a few people say how dumb it would be to get him because he cant block. So after seeing that I decided to look at Jason Whittens draft profile and see what it said about him and his blocking abilities. To my surprise they seemed somewhat similiar to Chase Coffmans. I know all of you would love to see Brandon Pettigrew as an Eagle, but dont hold your breath and I think drafting Pettigrew hurts more than helps the Eagles. If we did draft Pettigrew in the first round than I find it hard to beleive that we will also get a running back with our other 1st rounder. On the other hand if we were to draft Coffman in the second round than that would give us the ability to grab a running back and an offensive tackle in the first round.. According to NFL.com, it does not say anywhere that coffman simply can not block or does not attempt. It just says he needs some work. Now I have read the profiles of all the other tight ends available and most of them say that their blocking is either non-existing, or they give little effort. Now here is Jason Whittens draft profile:
(6-5 3/4, 264, 4.75e) Tennessee
Jason Witten
Jason Witten
Notes: Entered the draft after his junior season. High school All-America tight end and defensive end. Enrolled in 2000 as a defensive end but was needed on offense, where he started twice in extra-TE sets and caught his first pass for 11 yards. Was the best tight end in the Southeastern Conference in ’01, although, technically, he only started two games. Caught 28 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns during the season and had 6-125-0 vs. Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. In 2002, was the leading receiver with 34-452-5, starting 12 of 12 regular-season games and earning All-SEC honors as a junior. Also started Peach Bowl (5-41-0). Finalist for the Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end.
Positives: Big, fast, strong and athletic. Competes hard. Has very good hands and can stretch defenses. Is physical and flashes dominating ability as a blocker. Can make the tough catch and run over and away from defenders. Has a great upside. Very strong with a 455-pound bench-press. Only 20 years old.
Negatives: Not that fast. Inconsistent and not dominating as a blocker. Does not have thick legs and can improve running after the catch. Could have used another year in school.
Summary: Because of his potential, size and strength, will be drafted in the first two rounds.
Now I give you Chase Coffmans draft profile:
Analysis
Positives: Rare size potential for the position. Athletic enough to line up in a variety of positions, including split out wide, in motion or along the line of scrimmage. Good initial quickness off the snap. Has the lateral agility to avoid the jam at the line and get a clean release into his route. Uses his hands well in this area to break free from defenders when initially challenged. Good lateral quickness and body control to gain separation from defenders. Good balance and body control to make the acrobatic reception with defenders draped over him. Can make the tough catch in traffic and looks to get upfield to gain extra yardage. Reliable hands. Generally looks the ball into his hands to make the secure reception, but will trap the ball against his body when he anticipates a big hit. More physical as a blocker than you'd expect for a tight end split wide as often as he is. Provides a good initial jolt to the defender when blocking and gives good effort to sustain his blocks. Emerged as a standout as a true freshman. Good bloodlines. Father, Paul Coffman, was an NFL tight end for 10 years.
Negatives: Only marginal straight-line speed. Not a true deep seam threat. Flashes the physicality and toughness scouts want in a downfield blocker, but rarely blocks from a traditional three-point stance. Legitimate durability concerns following repeated foot injuries the past two seasons. Struggled for much of his senior season with turf toe and broke the fifth metatarsal in his left bone on the final play of the Alama Bowl. Played through recurring bone spurs as a junior that eventually resulted in corrective surgery in the offseason. Was not able to work out at the combine or at Missouri's pro day following surgery to fix the left foot.
Compares To: HEATH MILLER, Pittsburgh -- Whether used in the classic tight end position or in motion, one thing is evident - Coffman has the natural hands and RAC ability to gain big yardage once he gets the ball in his hands. He has outstanding size, arm extension and balance to go along with good strength to break tackles. He shows great body control adjusting to off-target throws and flashes good aggression as a blocker. With Martin Rucker having graduated, Coffman emerged as the team's featured target in 2008 until he was injured late in the year. The foot surgery has set back his workouts for teams, making it possible that he will be drafted lower than his scouting report indicates.
So I ask you again would want the Eagles to take Jason Whitten in this years draft? Most likely all of you would say the same things about Whitten that you do about Coffman...... Here is a link to Coffmans highlights, when I watch him I feel like his play style is very similiar to Whitten...... He seems to catch any pass thrown at him and simply keeps it moving.....Chase Coffman Highlights

Why I Love Bleeding Green Nation
As we approach the draft the Eagles news is scarce and often hearsay and rumor. So instead of writing a post about another rumor or speculation I just wanted to share with all of you why I love Bleeding Green Nation. I have been a long time reader and never took the time to actually sign up until a few months ago. It is great to see that I am not the only other person who checks for Eagles news daily. As a matter of fact I probabley log on to this site and read articles about 10 times throughout the day. Until I found this site I really thought I was a little obsessive with how often I scoured the internet looking for anything related to the Eagles. It is a good feeling to share with all of you my thoughts and opinions on our beloved Eagles. Sometimes we all agree on certain topics and other times we may disagree. But that is the beauty of our Nation, there is plenty of room for debate.I just want to thank all of the people who are just like me and come on here every day and give me something to read. With the NFL having such a short season I begin to have withdraw symptoms the second the season is over for the Eagles, and with the help of Bleeding Green Nation (my AA meetings) I am able to make it until preseason in August. With that being said, thank you all for bleeding green along with me ! We are all blood related ! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, thats not me swinging the shirt....
I Bet the Birds draft two RB's
I dont know why but i really have a feeling the the birds could draft two runningbacks..... Now I know a lot of you think i may be crazy but i really think that this is a possibility. Think about it, as it stands right now we really only have westbrook and booker..... We did get a guy from the chargers but i dont know if he will end up on our roster or just the practice squad. What if they were to take a premier back like moreno, wells, or db in the first or second round and than pick up someone like rashad jennings in a later round. It is possible and i would be very happy to see the position of running back become a huge strength for us. Like i said it may sound crazy but the eagles are known to surprise us every year in the draft......If we drafted two running backs who would you be happy to see taken
NY Daily News Article from today about Braylon/Giants
-- Giants Balk After Browns Want Steve Smith & Picks for Braylon Edwards --
Mon Mar 23, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
The New York Daily News reports according to a report in The Giant Insider, the Giants and Cleveland Browns were involved in brief trade talks recently in which the Giants asked for WR Braylon Edwards and the Browns wanted WR Steve Smith (plus some draft picks) in return. The trade didn't happen, obviously, but the article does speculate that the talks could heat up again as it gets closer to the NFL draft. It certainly was a hot rumor for a while that the Giants were going after Edwards, though the rumor was that the Giants were dangling DE Mathias Kiwanuka. TGI's story confirmed the Kiwanuka part was bogus. What TGI says actually happened is that the Giants offered Cleveland the two draft picks they got in the Jeremy Shockey deal (a second and a fifth), and the Browns said they wanted those picks and Smith. The Giants said no to that, according to the story, but offered an alternative of the picks plus WR Domenik Hixon or WR Mario Manningham. At that point, the story says, “Cleveland balked and the talks died.”
This was posted today on ffootballmastermind.com today which is just a little more information on the Braylon to New York rumor. My earlier post was not to say I wanted Braylon but after reading this I cant say that im not angry that this rumor is not about the Eagles instead of the Giants. Consider this.........we have 12 draft picks this year, Reggie Brown, who the Eagles obviously lost all faith in, was not even activated during the NFC championship game. In my opinion Reggie Brown is way better than Steve Smith or Hixon so I really do not understand why we just dont give up Reggie and a second rounder, Im sure with all the other draft picks we have that if we do give up our only second rounder we could figure out a way to retain one by packaging later picks since we have so many. Lets be honest here Reggie Brown collected dust last year and there is noooooo way that we are gonna sign 12 rookies. Im not saying we really need a receiver but given that fact that we let G Lew go, and I dont plan on seeing Reggie Brown on the feild next year we actually might end up being thin at receiver and since you are only as strong as your weakest link I wouldnt mind our receiving corps looking a little like this...... Braylon Edwards, Desean Jackson, Keving Curtis, Jason Avant, and Hank Baskett...... That would be such a great balance of speed and size. I just dont see how giving up a player who the team does not even use anymore and one or two draft picks (giving our position with so many) can hurt instead of help....... what do you think ....
Oh and for all who leave the comments about how we dont need a receiver and how bored you are with seeing fan posts about receivers do us all a favor.... Dont bother reading them :) This is simply football talk to pass the time until the season starts back up...
Would you be mad if Braylon became a Giant
via newlevelsports.files.wordpress.com
Ahhhhh the much heated debate of wide receiver. I know some of you believe that this is a pressing need of our Eagles and others believe that we will be just fine with what we have. Reguardless to what your opinion is, the purpose of this post is not to say that we really need a receiver and braylon would be a great fit, I simply want to know how many of you would be mad to see him become a New York Giant..... Ok lets start with some statistics and descriptions of Braylon for those of you who dont know... He is 6'3" 215 lbs, his rookie season he had 512 yards and 3 TD's, his second year he had 884 yards with 6 TD's, his third year, which is considered to be his breakout year, he had 1,289 yards with 16 TD's. This past year he had a dropoff, only totaling 873 yards with 3 TD's. I dont know what to make of Braylon because of the past two years. Its tough to figure out whether he was a one year wonder or just had a bad case of the drops this past year. But what is know about braylon is that he has good size and is capable of being an elite receiver. I know many of you, like me, have seen rumors on the internet of the possiblility of him becoming a Giant. It is not yet know what will happen with Plexico which Im sure is the reason for the interest by the Giants. Worst case scenerio is that they do get him and Plaxico is only suspended for a few games than you have Braylon and Plaxico lining up at wide receiver for the New York Giants. But if Plaxico can not play for a significant amount of time and Braylon is aquired than the Giants would have done something that the Eagles rarely do which is attempting to replace a player after one is lost. Im sure we will know if this will happen in the next month or so but in the mean time I would like to know your opinion on whether or not this should be a concern for us Eagles fans or if it would make you mad to see a receiver go to another team in the NFC East like in previous years.....
P.S. Braylon and Avant went to Michigan State together
Dawkins "I Wanted to Be an Eagle"......
I made the post about the orange out for dawkins during the Denver game and got many mixed emotions. Now I know a lot of people said I was choosing the player over the team and things of that nature and honestly im not sure if thats true or not because in some ways I feel that I was. But just in defense for Dawkins and as a reply to the people who posted comments about how Dawkins left for money, take a look at this article it may change your opinion on the situation as more information about how things went down is being released.... (This is from NFL.com)
Dawkins: ‘I wanted to be an Eagle’ <!-- p class="post-info-author">By NFL.com Staff</p -->
Posted: News | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Brian Dawkins, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles
For 13 seasons — his entire NFL career — safety Brian Dawkins was one of the faces of the Philadelphia Eagles. That changed abruptly last week when Dawkins hit the free-agent market for the first time in his career, and in less than 48 hours, he had signed a five-year, $17 million deal with the Denver Broncos that included $7.2 million in guaranteed money.
Dawkins told ESPN 950 Radio in Philadelphia on Tuesday that he knew once he hit free agency, he wouldn’t return to Philadelphia. He opted not to get into details during an eight-minute interview, but he said he was deeply hurt and that his decision to leave was as much about what the Broncos did as it was what the Eagles didn’t do.
“Denver came out of the jump, and we didn’t have to prompt them to offer me anything,” Dawkins said. “They came out the jump just like this. Not quite where it is right now, but it was close to that. We didn’t have to ask for anything. This is what they came out with, wanting me there. They made it clear right away that I’m not a ‘want’ there, that I’m a necessity. They feel they need me here.”
Dawkins, who will turn 36 next season, said the negotiations with the Eagles didn’t reach the point where they were contentious, but the process opened his eyes. He was given the impression — “in so many words,” as he described it — that the Eagles could get on without him.
“What I was offered was … that was it,” Dawkins said. “No one gave me any impression that there would be any flexibility in it.
“I would say they opened my eyes right away that this was a business deal. That it wasn’t about me being who I am to the team. It was about my age, and it was a business decision. And that really hurt.”
Dawkins was quick to refute the idea that he wanted to test the free-agent market.
“I did not want to get to free agency,” Dawkins said. “I’ve never gotten to free agency, I’ve never gone to free agency. I’ve had years in the past where I could have collected big bucks on the open market, but I did not want to get there. So why would I want to get there all of a sudden now on my last contract? I wanted to be an Eagle. And they denied that.”

CB Jack Ikegwuonu..Hope/Future for Secondary
Ok this article that I will post is a little dated, but it is a scouting report on Jack Ikegquonu from before he entered the draft. There are some pretty promising things said about him and what he is capable of. He is not mentioned to often and he wasnt considered a big name in the draft last year because of injuries and off the feild issues. So hopefully he gets 100% healthy, has no more off the feild issues, and becomes the player he is capable of becoming. Before his off/on the feild issues i read an article that had him ranked above players like Vernon Gholston, Jake Long, etc. but like i said that article was written before he missed substantial playing time and had his issues off the feild. With the departure of Dawkins, and Lito I just wanted to give some people a little positive information about our secondary and a little hope for the future.....
"Orange Out" for Dawkins during Denver Linc Game
Im writing this post a little early but i love the idea. I just read on GCOBB.com that another writer for another website is asking fans to participate in an "orange out" during the denver game this upcoming season. He says in the article that if you do not purchase the denver broncos dawkins jersey (which i had no plans too till now) than you can either wear flyers gear or just anything orange. Now this is the stuff that special movies are made of and im not implying that is any reason to do this even though if all of the fans particiapated in this it would probably end up turning into another disney movie. Could you just imagine if the entire stadium was orange for Dawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really love this idea!!!!!!!!!! The writer of the article says the reason that we would do this would be to show dawkins how much more he means to us than the philadelphia eagles do and this is why i love this idea so much.....
So i am asking for any help spreading this idea and this movement. Any bloggers, Jason B, anyone that can help do this in any way possible just spread this idea lets show the Philadelphia eagles that sometimes a player means more than money!
Dawk cant finish CSN interview..
One word summs up this whole situation........SURREAL. During a phone conversation with csn's Derrick Gunn, Dawk is asked a few obvious questions than he is asked if he automatically assumes a leadership role in Denver, and thats where dawk cant go on anymore, gets choked up, and cuts the conversation short. To hear a player that emotional after singing a deal like he received at his age is just another testiment of his character and his feelings towards this city and this team. I have always had the impression that the average player does not really care when they loose a football game because they get paid millions whether we win or loose (ex: Asante Samuel all smiles after the NFC championship game loss). But over the past year dawk has shown that the Philadelphia Eagles have meant just as much to him as it does to us fans. The typical older NFL player who is put in this same situation usually gives off the "best for me, if they dont want me I will find someone else who does" impression but the way Dawk has reacted breaks the mold and only makes this whole situation that much harder to accept. With that being said, I want to wish Brian Dawkins all the best and I want to thank him for giving this city, this team, and all of us fans EVERYTHING he had to give.
Jermaine Phillips?
I hate to be posting this but i was listening to Philadelphia eagles live and a caller mentioned jermaine phillips who is a strong safety from tampa bay. Now I am one of the biggest brian dawkins fan but i kind of feel like my girlfriend is cheating on me with this whole denver thing and i might be ready to move on already if he is. However i checked some stats on jermain phillps who is an unrestricted free agent and he has a nice amount of forced fumbles and int's, he also has pretty nice size 6'2" 220. Now i am watching nfl network live right now and they are reporting that dawkings is very close to signing the deal with denver. So i think it would be nice if they got this guy. What does eeryone else think ????????
