The Jets Offseason? - The Jets Gameplan..
The Jets obviously outperformed most people's expectations last season. I'd like to state before I continue that I am a lifelong Jets fan but more importantly I am a football fan. As a football fan it was clear to me midway through last season that The Jets could beat playoff teams provided they played Rex Ryan's brand of ball. I even wrote as much after last seasons Raiders game.
Having said all of this, the Jets are still 2 ( count them ) 2 seasons from being a serious Superbowl threat. So what strategy does that require in this years offseason/draft ?
NO SCRUBS - simple- easy to digest - easy to communicate- easy to execute. Nothing fancy, nothing mathematical nothing to measure or think about. Defensive player? Are they mean as hell on the field and thirsty to hit somebody... Offensive player ( including running backs ) ? Are they mean as hell on the field and thirsty to hit somebody ... Receiver? We'll take them if they can catch the ball And Hit Somebody, otherwise? we don't need one.
My point is that the Jets need ball players. They need strong , tough, physical ,sore losers - all over the field . Along the way players stand out and stars become available to you- We Do Not Need Stand Outs -
We need the every down Soldiers that Never disappoint Super Star teammates- Those are the guys that will challenge/propel each other to greatness and bring a team a ring.
As a team and organization, you don't find the Lawrence Taylors of the world.. THEY FIND YOU-
No draft board magic- no psyc evaluations - no Mel Kiper- just watch some tape on the kid- Hates to lose? we want him - Likes to hit people? we want him- Pushes himself to get better? sign him up.......... simple

The Running Game - The Win
Did I just see Thomas Jones put his hat into the chest of a Raider…? in a blowout ? In the fourth quarter?…..on the goal line ? …..those small things define good teams and define fundamental football – The Jets are good enough to beat playoff teams if they play that style of ball every week………
I wrote in another post that irrespective of the many yards they've been gaining on the ground, The Jets won't beat good teams unless the running game becomes more physical. Sometimes the best play for a running back is to hit a linebacker in the mouth, the backs did that today. There have been games this year when they didn't do it at all ( bad football ) .
To see veterans and rookies alike playing good football, in the fourth quarter, in a blowout is a tribute to the coaching staff. I won't drink the kool-aid yet, but this is a team that we can respect in a win or loss. When was the last time you felt that way about The Jets....The Sack Exchange?
