ST Holders offered Cubs-Yankees tickets for New Yankee Stadium.

Here is an email I just got from the Cubs. It's a nice "bone". I'm definitely in for 6. Wondering if other ST holders have success and how many tickets they get.

Dear Season Ticket Holder,

The Chicago Cubs are pleased to inform you that we have just received confirmation from the New York Yankees regarding purchasing opportunities for the first ever games at the New Yankee Stadium featuring the Chicago Cubs vs. the New York Yankees on Friday, April 3 at 7:05 EST and Saturday, April 4 at 1:05 EST.

The Yankees have set aside a limited number of tickets for both games. The tickets will range in price from $20-$45. Due to the close proximity of this offer with the actual game dates, we will need to obtain your response, if interested, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16th.

Orders will be filled starting with the available $45 tickets. All tickets will be sold on a first come - first served basis. There will be a purchase limit of 6 tickets total per season ticket account. A $5 postage and handling charge will be added to all completed orders. If your order is filled successfully, the tickets will be mailed to you at the address you submit.

If you'd like to take part in this special offer, please reply back to this email (there will be no phone sales) no later than 5:00 P.M. on 3/16 with the following information:

1) Acct #
2) Name:
3) Street_______________________________
4) City_________________State____Zip_____
5) Credit Card #_____________________ exp. date______
6) Choice of Game:
April 3 April 4 Either
7) Number of Tickets:
(please note that your total number cannot exceed 6)

Unfortunately we will not be able to quote specific locations or prices prior to your order being addressed. We will process all orders with the best available seats that we have at our disposal. It is our hope that we will be able to accommodate all season ticket holders that would like to take part in this offer. However, due to the limited availability of tickets, your reply does not guarantee that your order will be filled as we will be filling orders on a first come-first served basis. We will contact you within a few business days of the response deadline with an email letting you know whether your order was able to be filled.

Fresh off the Heilman Deal: Cubs to sign Bako, looking at Looper, Wolf? Ebiru the new Onedec?

Fresh off scooping the Cubs' acquisition of Aaron Heilman, ESPN Radio's Bruce Levine has more info about the team's plans.

Levine says the Cubs will sign backup catcher Paul Bako to a one-year, $750K deal once they clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The 2-for-1 Heilman trade takes care of that.

The Cubs are still looking at Braden Looper and Randy Wolf if they aren't able to reignite the Jake Peavy talks.

The Cubs have Juan Uribe on the radar as a bench bat and backup infielder.

EDIT: Uribe signs with Giants for 1M.

Cubs Convention Jan 16-18

Hey BCBers, only 4 days until the 24th Annual Cubs Convention. This is my first Cubs convention after being a season ticket holder for 5 years, and I really don't know what to expect. Maybe some of you convention veterans can offer some hints. Maybe even wear our BCB shirts that day?

(Using the search function, here is a thread with the schedule:)

Cubs Convention Schedule

Here are some ideas of topics to post on this thread:

1) What are some can't miss events/speakers at this year's convention?

2) What are some past years' memories of the convention? Have you ever won something cool at the raffle? Did you have a beer with Manny Trillo?

3) If you are going, who are you bringing? Are you going all 3 days, taking off work, staying 8 am - 9 pm or just stopping by for an hour?

4) What should you bring? Camera, autograph items, cash for souvenirs, etc?

and possibly most importantly:

5) Where are BCBers socializing afterwards (downtown watering holes, etc?)

Rockies interested in Marquis? Marquis for Taveras?Baker?

The Rockies have internally discussed acquiring Jason Marquis from the Cubs.

Marquis for Willy Taveras might interest the Rockies if the Cubs were willing to eat some salary, but the Cubs would probably just as soon stick with Kosuke Fukudome and Reed Johnson as their center field combination. MLB.com mentions Jeff Baker as a possibility to be involved. However, if the Rockies want Marquis, it shouldn't cost major league talent.

I've always kind of liked Taveras. Would he work as a leadoff hitter? Would he goof up the CF platoon of Fukudome and Johnson? Jeff Baker can give some pop from 2B: 10 HR in 102 games last year. I imagine the Cubs would have to eat a lot of salary if this were to be feasable. Nice to see some interest in Marquis though...

Carlos Marmol suffered minor injuries in a car accident early Tuesday in the Dominican Republic.

Marmol, who was in a car that was hit by a truck, wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press that the air bag deployed and he only suffered a cut and an "inflammation" of his forehead. He received seven stitches in his forehead.

Source: The Associated Press

Yipes. Sounds like he's having a VERY bad week. Hope he's ok and his forehead isn't too "inflammed"

OT: Brett Favre traded to Jets

FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer reports that the Packers have traded Brett Favre to the Jets. In compensation, the Packers are believed to get a draft pick which is conditional on his and the Jets' performance. This pick can range from a 3rd round pick to a 1st round pick.

What impact do you think Favre will have on that team with their new revamped defense? Remember the Jets play NE twice each year...

How do Bears fans feel about having Brett out of the division?

Any Packer fans out there? Packers could possibly get a first round pick depending on Favre's performance. Nice return for a guy the Pack was planning to be without?
