Our Future Point Guard for the next decade??

I think i speak for alot of Warrior fans when i say i 'm very excited to see the growth and development from Stephen Curry. As GS fans we always talk about the high ceiling of our young PF in Anthony Randolph but we never really talk about the high ceiling i feel Curry has.

PG Ability: As we all probably know Curry is probably our best PG/passer on the team. Curry seems to have a natural feel for being a point guard. What we have seen happen alot in the preseason is when Curry is in, he seems to run the offense great. Bob Knight has said that Curry is one of the best passers to ever play the game at college and there have been many comparisons to Steve Nash. Don Nelson has been very excited about Curry from day one and expects Curry to be a 20 and 10 PG. Nellie knows how to develop guards so i trust himin this situation. We know Curry can score and pass but it's the other things(steals, rebounds, effort on defense) that have really impressed me. Also Curry has very good ball handling skills. He is a guy who you feel confident when the game is on the line to take care of the ball which is what you need in a PG. Another thing that has impressed me is his Basketball IQ. Curry is a guy who just knows the game really well. As a PG he has a feel for knowing where guys like there shots and what kind of passes to throw. There are times when Curry may throw a couple bad passes but you know that he is trying to get guys going and will only get better at that as he gets more experience in the NBA

Stephen Curry doesn't seem to be pressured at all with being an NBA rookie. From his dad playing 16 seasons in the league and just always being around the game he seems like he is made for the NBA. When he is out on the court he handles himself well and has alot of composure. With the media he always seems to say the right things and already have a reputation as a shooter so defenders will always have to account for him when he's on the court.

Still growing?: It has been reported that Stephen Curry can still grow, possibibly to 6'5. I know that that has a good chance of not happening but i didn't think Randolph would continue to grow and he is now pushing 7 feet so hopefully everything will work out. At 6'3 Curry is already a pretty good PG but if he were to grow to 6'5 that would make him a matchup problem and it would allow us to have a 6'5 (Curry and Morrow) back court in the future. Curry also has been in the weight room and looks alot stronger than when he was drafted and is bigger than what alot of people thought which allows him to finish more shots around the rim and become more of a finisher. Steph is also more athletic than i think alot of people know. Sure he is not as explosive as Monta, but he can elevate and what he can't do athletically he makes up in craftyness.

What do you guys think Stephen Curry's ceiling is. Is he just a role player or can he become a star. I think that within the next 2 to 3 years we are going to have to choose between Curry and Monta and while i love Monta, Curry has potential to become one of the best PG's in the game. I know Curry still has a long way to go but if Curry continues to improve i can see him putting up Chris Paul numbers as far as points, assits, rebounds, steals because he is very active with his hands and feet. That may be unrealistic expectations but a Warrior fan can hope. Curry has a good shot at ROY but even if he doesn't win i think with all the drama in warrior land we may have found our PG of the future this past draft. In the NBA you need a great small and big to be a great team and in Randolph and Curry we have alot to look forward to. We may not be ready to win alot now, but with the development of our future PG and PF we may have these to positions set for the next 15 years!

The Gold in Golden State

Like mostly everyone here at GSOM, I am a Big Golden State Warrior fan. Watching the finals and playoffs every year with out the Dubs hurts. I always dream of our Warriors being in the finals. The championship logo on our Warriors logo in the middle of Oracle Arena floor and on our jerseys. The Championship pregame warmups, the media coverage, the crowd all in the gold shirts going wild for our team. It's to good to be true but it seems as though the Gold belongs in Golden State. The Warriors don't get alot of respect in the NBA(not that we deserve alot) but we do desreve credit for having a solid foundation of young players we can build around. The bottom line is I am ready for GS to be in contention for a championship. The last time we had a championship was 1975! These are some steps that the Warriors should take to make sure that we are on the right road to bringing the Gold to Golden State.

Step 1: Keep the Young Core

This has been said alot here at GSOM that we should sell the farm for for Amare of Bosh but if you think about it the only way they come in a trade would be if the sign an extention. If Amare or Bosh would sign an extention wouldn't it be better for them to come here during free agency when we still have all our players? But we need to keep our young core(Randolph, Curry, Morrow, Ellis, Andris) and build aroung these guys. All 5 of these guys have proven to have a great work ethic and will continue to improve season by season. If they continue to improve than we could hopefully have a few All Stars(Curry, Ellis, Randolph, and maybe even Andris). I think one of Ellis or Curry will develop into a future PG for us, but this year we will see what each bring to the table.

Step 2: Gaining Respect

This year the Warriors need to get to the playoffs. This is the only way we will get good free agents to come here is if we win. The Warriors need to come in to training camp focused and ready to win this year. Nelson will be alot better this year as a coach because he wants the record for most wins as a coach. We are the under dogs this year and Nelson knows how to bring out the most in our team. If we can get out to a great start and have a good finish we have a shot at the playoffs.

Step 3: Anthony Randolph's Develpoment

All Warrior fans know the potential of Randolph. He is already one of the most exciting players not only on our team but in the league. Anthony is the biggest key to our succes this year and for hopefully the next 10 years. Randolph dominated in Summer league and got an invite to team USA so his confidence is very high righ now. This year Randolph doesn't need to dominate, but heneeds to show even more improvement. Randolph should be able to average about 15 points and 8 or 9 boardswith 2 blocks a game this season with more playing time. Randolph is our best bet to have many All Star seasons and I hope Randolph retires a Warriors and cements his name in NBA history, but at 20 years old he still has a long way to go.

Step 4: Having Good Role players

Guys like Ronny Turiaf, Kelenna Azubuike, Brandan Wright and maybe even guys like Jackson and Maggette are guys we should have on ourchampionship run. Role players are important on a good team and can be vital in winning the ring. Turiaf and Azubukie are great role players who we should try to keep on our team going forward. Ronny is a big guy who comes to play every game. He has shown some nice offensive ability with a good mid range shot but his best attribute is his Defense(Top 5 in block shots last year). Kelenna plays big and can pretty much do anything you need of him. Bukie has also shown the ability to hit clutch shots which is a very good key to winning a championship. Brandan could probably be in our young core but right now he is a solid big of the bench with potential to be even more. Maggette is a guy we should look at moving but if he is here you know what your going to get from him which is a guy who can flat out score and get to the FT line. If we are winning he may get consideration for 6 man of the year. It has been stated that Stack Jack would be much better if he is our #3 or 4 option and i couldn't agree more. If he stays, Jackson could be a good vet to have on our team.

Commitment to Defense and Rebounding

I think when you look at rebounding, if we play a more traditional lineup(no small ball) we can become a much better rebounding team. Andris is a great rebounder along with Randolph who has alot of potential to be come great rebounder. The biggest area is Defense though. Like we all know defense wins champions. The Warriors are one of the worst defensive teams and we are not going any where until we address this problem. The bad part is almost every guy on our team has the potential to aleast be an average to good defender but most of them don't seem to care too much about D. There has been to many games over the last 4 or 5 years where the Warriors would come out and play on both sides of the court. Those are the game where we win a game we are not suppose to win and we wounder how good a team we would have if we came and played every game that way instead of some games every once in a while. That commitment starts from the top(Nellie) and if Keith Smart becomes the head coach in the future we have a good defensive coach first. But everyone on the team has to come with that defensive mindset or we will never go any where. If we can become a good defensive team we will win more games on the road where our offensive has trouble getting going. We can always fall back on our defense to win the game if we become a better defensive team.

Step 6: New Manegement

For now i'm OK with Nellie coaching and Larry Riley as GM even though i liked Chris Mullin and i want Keith Smart to take overwhen Nellie's done. But wereally need to get rid of Rowell and Cohan. These two have been awful for a long time and we need a chande now. I would like for Larry Ellison to becomeor new Owner and we should just get rid of Rowell. It's time for a change and the only way we will ever see a championship is if we get new Manegement.

Well those are some steps that we need to take to get on the championship wagon. Of course these may not be all the steps so if there are any more please right below in comments. Us Golden State fans are the best fans in the the world and we deserve a championship. There is no telling when or if we will ever get one but when we finally do I think i speak for everyone that it will be the best thing in the world! Can you imagine the Warriors ever winning the title?

Golden State's 2K10 Ratings?

When getting an NBA game, the ratings for the team and it's players are important. Playing online i only use the Warriors and I hate when people jack with Lebron or Kobe. I always wonder what it would feel like to have All star type players on the Dubs. My question to you is what do you think the Warriors ratings will be in NBA 2K10?

I will take my guess at what our ratings will be. I think our overall rating should be around 70 to 79 with a 85 on offense and about 67on defense. On to the players

Monta Ellis PG 87- Monta proved at the end of the year that he is still capable of being explosive on offensive and while i don't think he was all the way back to his 07/08 form, he was still good.

Stephen Jackson SF 87- Jack was an 88 on the last 2K roster download so i think he'll still be around that mark. Jackson is a nice all around player and can light it up when on fire.

Kelenna Azubukie SG 83- Nice all around role player. He is a good shooter and rebounder who can also score well.

Anthony Randolph PF 84- Had a 79 rating and after the summer he has had with summer league and USA Camp he should be about 84 or 85.

Andris Biedrins C 87- This was his rating and it will probably remain the same. Andris is a great rebounder, and ok defender and works really well on the pick and roll. Dre can also handle the ball a little for a Center.

Steph Curry PG 79- Did alright in Summer league(nothing too special) but it is summer league. Still Curry was a top draft choice and every one think's he is going to be great(Draft experts and fans). He should have a great 3pt rating.

Anthony Morrow SG 79- Morrow also had a great summer and will have one of the best 3pt ratings in the game. Morrow can also rebound.

Corey Maggette SF 84- Maggette is a great athlete, free throw shooter and offensive player. He will most likely be around 82-84.

Brandan Wright PF 77- Wright has nice polish around the rim on offense and can rebound aliitle. Brandan is a perfect enery back up player with his althesicm and ability to get in the open court and run.

Ronny Turiaf C 81- Ronny is a good defensive player and and great shot blocker. His enery and hustle are big plus as a back up center.

The rest: Claxton-70, Law-72, George-73

I know these rating probably won't be the exact rating but they should be some where close. For fun what do you think the Warriors ratings will be in NBA 2K10?

There has been alot of talk about who we should take in the upcoming draft but what if we can win the lottery who would you pick out of Ricky Rubio or Blake Griffen.

Being a Warrior fan i know this is a long shot for us to win the lottery and if we did we would probably mess up some how anyway. Its not impossible though as Chicago won last year at the same spot we are at with more wins than us and you see the PG they got in Rose. But i think this will be fun to see what way people will go. Me personally i would have to take Rubio but it would kind of be a hard decision because we have always needed that man in the middle but i am high on Randolph and Wright. I am also high on Monta at PG but if you get a chance to draft a potentially elite PG you can't let it go away. Depending on who we would pick here is how the lineup would look:

PG Monta/Rubio/Maybe Watson

SG Jackson/Morrow/Marco

SFAzubuike/Maggette

PF Randolph/Wright

C Andris/Ronny

OR

PG Ellis/Watson/Marco

SG Stack Jack/Morrow

SF Kelenna/Corey

PF Blake/Randolph/Wright

C Dre/RT

I think the 1st lineup looks much better and maybe you could start Rubio and have everyone move over a position. There seems like a logjam with the 2nd lineup and all of this if hopeing Crawford opts out which i think he will.

But Warriors fans what do you think we should do if we somehow won the lottery..Go BIG or small???

Monta Ellis is an Underrated Point Guard

Every where i go i always hear that the Warriors need a PG and that Monta is not a PG. I think that ellis is an underated passer. I know that he is not a elite PG like Paul, Deron, Kidd, or Nash but I think people don't give credit to Monta for improving as a point guard.

I think that him being around Baron Davis for those 3 years have helped him and i have seen Monta make alot of passes that have impressed me alot. In High School Monta averaged like 38 points and 8 assits and i know that that was high school but he also averaged 6 assits in like the last 15 games of the season And i know you guys have seen the games like at home against Boston last year where he had some crazy passes and the behind the back pass to Baron against the Kings also. I feel Monta has gotton smarter since he has been in the league and has improved his vision and ball handling skills enough to where he can be a pretty good PG for us. Look at Mo Williams who plays for the Cavaliers and the sucess he has had. Now i know hes playing with LeBron but he is not an elite PG but he gets the job done for Cleveland and they have a great record. But i am getting sick of people saying he has never played PG before and he is not the answer when that is not the case. One we haven't seen Monta play yet so we can't say he isn't the answer at point just yet. And Monta has played point before so that is a lie. Now I know that monta is injured and he may not ever be the same again but if he can come back and play like him self and continue to improve i see no reason to not believe he could get 8 assits a game. And i think the problem alot of people have is how is he gonna adjust to scoreing and knowing when to pass but i think Ellis will do just find. Call me crazy but i think in his prime Monta can average 23 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assits, and 2 steals while still shooting around 49 percent on FG and 80 percent from the line. What do you guys think about Monta as our PG

I always here people talk about the Warriors jerseys and how they don;t like them. What is wrong with them.

I think the warriors have some of the best looking jerseys in the NBA. I like the throwbacks and all the old ones but i honestly like all 3 of the current jerseys that the Warriors have I like the blue ones the most. I remember i became a fan of the Warriors by picking them in a viedo game I think Live 2003 and i loved there jerseys first and then i saw all the talent we had with J Rich,Arenas,Jamison, I would love to see more of our team on ESPN getting more national attention so that Warriors jerseys will in more stores and people will recongnise us more. I think our run in the playoffs put us on the map but now we have kinda went back into the cellur and no one cares about us anymore. I also like our colors and i think that if they change the jerseys they should keep the same colors. But what do think is wrong with the Warriors Jerseys?

Hi everyone i'm new here i just wanted to get your thoughts on this topic.

I've been a Warrior fan since 2003 and i've been hopeing and praying for the Warriors to be a Elite NBA team. I miss the old playoff team but i am looking foward to the future with Wright, Randolph, Ellis, and Biedrins hopefully leading this team to a few finals appreances. But i want to know how the rest of you guys feel about our future heading forward
