I grew up in Houston, TX and in Atlanta, GA with family members rooting for their respective alma maters. We have Cal Bears, Rice Owls, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (but somehow no 'Horns or Aggies) in my very Texan family. I chose Georgia Tech and Industrial Design. In school I was all about Jesus, Tech traditions, Yellow Jacket football, building stuff, and my fraternity. I'm now a professional designer of physical products and digital experiences obsessed with making things more usable, more desirable, and more aesthetically pleasing. I met my wife at Tech, and we attend every Tech home game.

Russell Athletic Losing Another College Team

While the move isn't set in stone, Ohio University (of the MAC) has put out an RFP regarding its equipment contract for major sports. If they sign with another apparel provider (likely Adidas, Nike, or Under Armour), there will be only 9 college football teams at any level that wear uniforms by Russell Athletic. As it stands today, there are only 6 FBS schools using Russell, and, of those, Georgia Tech is the only team in a BCS-AQ conference to wear the R logo. Not only that, but Tech is the only "major university" to wear the brand. After a height of popularity in the 1990's, the apparel provider is under new management from Fruit of the Loom (and parent Berkshire Hathaway) since 2006, with new headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky (though BGSU uses Adidas) and makes most of its equipment sales in youth and high school sports. Former Alumni Association President Joe Irwin is just one prominent alumnus whose career went through Russell Corp when it was located in Alexander City, Alabama under its historic Southern business regime. Rumor has it these alumni connections are the key (and glue) to Georgia Tech's unique and faithful relationship with the brand.

What U(sic)GA "Research" Shows About Drinking in Athens

Ed. Note: Trollololin' hard. -LilBroey700 The "Un-iversity" paid money for this research. The conclusions drawn from the data are so groundbreaking the AJC has front-paged it. Ready? Here goes: If you're a freshman girl at UGA who binge drinks regularly your chances of unwanted sexual contact rise. What a paradigm-shifting insight! I guess parents will have to change what they tell their daughters now...oh wait, nope. Your. Tax. Dollars.

Paul Johnson Wins More Money for Tech

When the GTAA is strapped for cash, Coach Paul Johnson doesn't whine. He mans up, gets off his curmudgeonly hind parts, and wins $125,000 for a second straight year to ease the burden. Because he had to. Because he can't stand your whining anymore. Rather than try to shut you up he'll just take away your excuses. Golf Tournament? Money. "There, now shutup and adjust the budget so I can go win football games." CPJ's legendary skills led partner Jon Barry to say the following about a clutch chip shot to secure the win: "We knew we had to make par on the toughest hole in Georgia and we got it done. It was a lot of fun." He was then beaten with a driver for not "acting like he'd been there before" while CPJ smoked a stogy and continued not to care. GT can now allocate about 100k in scholly money for other purposes (debt relief, paying the NCAA, etc.) for the second year in a row, because CPJ doesn't want to hear another word about our "problems." Just shut up and win things like he does. Go Jackets!

Hey, NCAA, your biases are showing!

Editor's Note: FP'd for TRUTH. -- LilBroey700 As we all know, $312 dollars of clothing from a source never proven to be impermissible and immediately offered up with tags intact plus a /supposedly/ defiant demeanor cost Georgia Tech an ACC championship and a fine totaling fully a third of our athletic revenue. Given that, what does $59,000 dollars in *proven* illegal player benefits and a conviction of "Failure to Monitor" get South Carolina? Not a single vacated game. Not a postseason ban of any kind. Just a paltry fine of less than $20k and the loss of six scholarships and a scaled-back recruiting visit calendar. Hey, NCAA, your bias is hanging out...we can all see it.

After standing out on the practice squad, Kevin Cone was added to the Falcons' 53-man roster. He wasn't even Tech's feature receiver. Anyone still believe Tech's triple option receivers can't make it in the NFL? Oh, also...Mechanical Engineering graduate.
