The Slipper Still Fits GBJ vs Sarbaugh

Is it possible we've overlooked Sarbaugh with all the hype GBJ has received?  It has to be a blessing to have WA Mr. Basketball and the Seattle Times Player of the year in the same recruiting class.  The Seattle Times posted an article today highlighting Chris' achievement, check it out if you have a moment.

Gary definiately has the talent, but does Sarbaugh posess the leadership/skill combo so many teams covet?  Is it possible we may have an impact player walking on to our program?

The last time I recall hearing about a recruit like this was Pendo, prototypical Gonzaga glue guy.  I believe Sarbaugh has the look of a player filling that role for this team.  Afterall, he did lift his Bullpups to wins over two teams with WA's most coveted recruits.

Do you think he could be the steal of this recruiting class?

Downs (with four three-pointers) and sophomore center Andy Poling led SPU with 18 points. Senior guard Ryan Sweet added 17 points.

Poling had 10 rebounds, seven on the offensive end.

Good for a former Zag to be playing so well. Congrats Andy.

The Slipper Still Fits Off Topic: Signage for GU v SMC game

In the past, SSF members have been pretty creative when coming up with possible signs for students and fans to bring to the MAC.  We are seeing alot of very funny stuff this year with big head pictures of Few, Mathis and others.

This fanpost is to allow you, the reading public, the chance to put your skills on display for all SSL members to review, critique and possibly... rec.  Generally it is about getting a good laugh while getting psyched up for the game.

Nice article in today's Seattle Times on Washington's Mr. Basketball. This article gives some good insight in to GBJ (or as I'll now call him "Heat Check") background in basketball.

Well written article on a potential impact player for the Zags.

The Slipper Still Fits Jay Bilas' unknown All American Team

Bilas posted an ESPN Insider article today detailing a "Sweet 16 of relative unknowns who deserve to be center ring with their names up in lights"

No mention of any Zags on the list, but there is WCC representation.  Here is what is said of the player every Zag loves to hate:

Omar Samhan, Saint Mary's: Samhan has an amazing old-school feel for the game and is a very instinctive player. While he may not fit the suit, he can play. Samhan makes great decisions in the post, has every move in the book and can drop step, dribble drop, up and under, step through and go over either shoulder with a soft touch and unusual feel with his back to the basket. He averages 21.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game, and he is tougher than nails. Samhan loves the challenge and has a swagger to his game. He brings it every game, and I love watching him play.

Love him or hate him, the guy brings game and helps raise the level of competition in the WCC.  Nice to see him getting some spotlight.  Now Zags, send that spotlight crashing down by beating him (I mean SMC) a third time this season in Vegas.
