I'm a full-time armchair manager of Real Madrid, and a recent graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. I grew up watching Madrid play at the Bernabéu, and some of my earliest memories are of celebrating in or around the Cibeles after we won the 1995 Liga and the 1996 Champions.

I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, so I love the Packers, and the Badgers with all my heart; I lived in Boston for a year in 1996, so naturally I love the Yankees and the Knicks.

My life ambition is to be yelled at by Jorge Valdano during a press conference for asking him an uncomfortable question, and then being removed forcibly by security. (I did meet Valdano when I lived in Madrid, but never got to say anything questionable to him because I was too afraid of being kicked in the face. True story.)

I run SBN's Real Madrid CF blog Managing Madrid, and spend most of my free time fantasizing about Real Madrid's starting 11, tactics, and Mourinho's suits. I also am in charge of SBNation.com/soccer 's Spain section. Woo!

Morata reaches agreement with 'Juve'

The player and the Italian club would now be waiting for Real Madrid to accept the deal

Form and Substance: Why Barça and FIFA are Right

FIFA just dropped some pretty harsh sanctions on FC Barcelona. This is why FIFA and Barça are right to be angry.

Madrid, Barça and the Business of Popularity

Real Madrid is losing popularity in Spain. Barcelona is on the upswing. Have we seen this movie before?

Rayo Dominate; Valencia Scrape By

Rayo showcased some pinpoint accuracy from long range, as they dominated a worn-down Levante side 3-0. Valencia, on the other hand couldn't hang on to a lead against Getafe, ultimately winning 4-2.

La Liga Week 17: Big Wins As Liga Rallies For Tito

The scheduling Gods at the LFP gave us a full docket of games today--how better to stave off apocalypse?--and what emerged were a series of relatively benign wins. But don't tell that to Rayo Vallecano who demolished Levante 3-0.

La Liga Week 15: Madrid, in "Crisis," Abides

On some level, it's pacifying to note that, despite the uncertain world, Real Madrid will always be able to fabricate a crisis. Ultimately, Madrid abides.

Copa del Rey: Canteranos, Surprises in Store

The top Spanish teams all have theoretically easy second- and third-division opponents in the Round of 32. But that doesn't mean that we won't see an upset--just say the word "Alcorcón" to a Real Madrid fan.

Lost in Madrid's Shuffle: Málaga's Big Win

Málaga dominated Valencia this afternoon, and watched their handiwork disappear unnoticed in the unravelling of Real Madrid

Reality check time in La Liga

Real Madrid are still struggling. They've managed to right the ship somewhat since the beginning of the year, but they haven't managed to pull back any points on Barcelona.

Lions in Madrid; Derby in Sevilla

Fernando Llorente and Athletic Bilbao take on Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabéu this weekend; but this weekend, we'll see a very, very different side to Llorente--a caged lion.

Barça Walk; Athletic Squeak Past Sevilla

FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi scored a strong victory today in a 2-4 dismantling of Mallorca. Athletic dropped Sevilla in a tough game to hang onto a shred of hope of finishing higher then mid-table.

La Liga Week 11: Madrid and the wall of Levante

Last year, Real Madrid lost a (relatively) shocking 1-0 dustup against a battle-hardened Levante side in Valencia. Will José Mourinho and company be able to tear down the Levante wall?

La Liga Week 10: Few Goals As Conditions Turn Cold

Sevilla's 0-0 draw with a battle-tested Levante side was emblematic of Sunday's games, as most sides slogged through the day to pick of points.

La Liga Week 10: Valencia-Atletico Battle Royale

Real Madrid and Barcelona are hosting Zaragoza and Celta, respectively, in what should be a couple of relatively easy three point bumps. Valencia and Atleti, will lock horns in Valencia, in a battle between the once and future third place finishers.

Copa del Rey: Malaga Scared, Atleti Cruise

Málaga saw their seemingly insurmountable 0-2 lead over a much worse side overturned by lowly Cacereño in the first half; but talent won out in the second, despite the scare. Atleti, on the other hand, remain strong.

Barcelona Dominate Rayo Vallecano 0-5

It didn't matter that Tito Vilanova's side has been lackluster on defense this season, or that most of their defensive starters are injured--with Messi and Cesc running the show, it's all offense in Barcelona.

Madrid still 8 back of Barca. Tick tock, Jose.

Yes, it's just week 9. But Real Madrid have failed to make up any of their eight-point gap with Barcelona. Tick, tock, Mourinho.

Magical Falcao, JIM, Save Atleti, Levante

Atlético Madrid and Levante both won exciting nail-biters Saturday afternoon in la Liga, with the rojiblancos finding a winner seemingly out of thin air in the last minute of play, and Levante playing a similar game in the 86th.

Barcelona Defense Suspect In 9-Goal Thriller

Barcelona beat Deportivo la Coruña 4-5 in a game that should have been 0-8--and it wasn't Leo Messi's fault. Will Barcelona be able to keep up their torrid pace without most of their defense?

Has the FIFA Virus killed Real Madrid?

Real Madrid lost both of their defensive backs, and their best substitute defender. Will the FIFA bug leave Real Madrid comatose and gasping for life in la Liga?

La Liga Week 7: The World Stops

Televisions all over the world will be following the action in Spain, as the two best teams in the world take the pitch for a game that could well decide the future of the Liga for this year.

Cesc Scores, Dives In Wild Barça Win Over Sevilla

Barcelona won a not-so-pretty game against Sevilla, after a wildly incompetent refereeing decision allowed them to go a man up.

Valencia, Málaga Win Easily, Begin Race For 3rd

Málaga and Valencia won easily against Real Betis and Zaragoza, respectively, shoring up both team's candidacies for the top-4. But with Valencia's rocky start, will Málaga keep their momentum long enough to make a legitimate push for third?

La Liga's Zero-Sum Games

Real Madrid trail Barcelona by eight points. No, that's not a typo. It's true. But with only five weeks of soccer played, is this really the end?
