The one thing we do know: When we finally play, it will be far from a normal baseball season. Just as baseball provided a much-needed rallying point for Americans after 9/11, our manager has already told us that we are now playing for the town and the people and the country.

"Colorado Rockies President Keli McGregor was found dead Tuesday morning in a Salt Lake City, Utah, hotel, police said."

Our friends over on Purple Row are shocked, as can be expected. My thoughts and prayers go out to McGregor's family, friends, and the Rockies organization.

Talking Chop Braves Caravan in Athens 2/10

I drove by Academy Sports at 1 pm to see what the line looked like to decide whether I was skipping Ultimate Frisbee class today. There wasn't a line coming out the door, so I figured it'd be safe to go to class. Class ended up being canceled because of whipping winds and a 24 degree wind chill. I made it back to Academy to secure my spot as 41st person in line at 2 pm. At 4, the players started to arrive. The line went through quick. I was able to get through within less than twenty minutes.

Talking Chop Wait...OBP is on the scoreboard...

Tonight's game was full of all sorts of surprises for me. I got a seat upgrade to behind home plate. I got to see the unveiling of the new coke bottle (which is actually pretty cool). I got to see Hank Aaron in person for the first time. And I got to see Francoeur go 0 for 4. Lowe had a decent start. He was a little shaky in the fourth but he kept us in the game. You can read the game recap, so I'll move on.

Frenchy's reception was as expected. He has a loyal following in his hometown. Girls were walking around with homemade shirts reading "OMGZ, bring back Francoeur!" I wish I were kidding. He got a nice standing ovation for his first at bat. I was the only one in my section that didn't stand up and cheer. Sure he's an ok guy, but see my opinion on that matter in another post. I was thrilled when he lined to Prado for that double play. That's the Frenchy we all learned to, err... love?

And then I looked at the scoreboard...

In case your eyes ail you, here's a closer look.

Oh yeah, Jeff. OBP is on the scoreboard.

Here's a picture of the new Coke bottle. It's completely digital around the label. The tomahawk chops across it, it says Atlanta Braves, it does all sorts of neat things.

"CC and A.J.?

The Yankees are getting both.

Free-agent right-hander A.J. Burnett has reached a preliminary agreement with the Yankees on a five-year, $82.5 million contract, according to major-league sources, joining lefty CC Sabathia in the team's revamped rotation."

Really? I suppose all eyes can turn to Peavy now. Wren has to get something out of this off season... anything at this point.
