Don't look now, but the Florida Marlins have won three of their last four ball games.  Probably not much of a coincidence is the fact that the Fish started to heat up right around the time Hanley...

When we look back on the worst month in the history of Marlins baseball, hopefully we will be able to say that the series with Oakland is the one where the Fish finally started to turn things...

Ricky Nolasco seemed to understand that with the Marlins offense struggling miserably, he'd have to be pretty near perfect to get a win on Wednesday night against the Oakland A's.  And he was....

Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Athletics (6/28)

The Marlins continue their delightful West Coast road trip with a three-game series against the Oakland Atheltics, which kicks off tonight at the Coliseum.  Javier Vazquez takes the mound for...

With the Marlins dropping ball games nearly every day in the month of June, they have had to get very creative to be able to come up with new ways to lose. They had their most inventive moment yet...

Righting the ship against the reigning AL Cy Young winner is about as likely as starting a diet in a donut shop. There is roughly a 99% chance of failure, as the Marlins discovered firsthand in...

Open Thread & Ichthyomancy: Mariners at Marlins (6/24)

The Fish are in Seattle tonight to kick off a three-game "home" series at Safeco Field, and unless you are one of the several FishStripes faithful who made the long trek West, this series will...

After an 11-game drought which at times felt more like 11 months, the Marlins finally pulled off a win Tuesday night at Sun Life Stadium.  Rather than regurgitate what happened on the field against...

A 73-hour rain delay at Sun Life Stadium Monday night merely delayed the inevitable. Armed with their shiny new (yet really, really old) manager, the Marlins did what they've been doing best the...

Edwin Rodriguez Resigns

10

Edwin Rodriguez handed in his resignation to the Florida Marlins Sunday, before the team's series finale with the Rays. The Marlins insist that the resignation was Edwin's decision, and came as a surprise to the organization. Uh huh. I'm sure it was a very pleasant surprise that they wouldn't have to go through the messy business of firing Rodriguez on Monday. The Fish are starting the process of finding a new manager. In the meantime, bench coach Brandon Hyde managed the team Sunday. Rodriguez issued the following statement: "This morning I offered my resignation to Larry Beinfest and the Marlins, and they accepted. I am grateful for the opportunity the Marlins gave me to manage at this level. It was a very hard decision for me to make, with the positive way the organization is moving; a new ballpark next season and the young core of players that this team has. I can’t say enough about the effort that this staff and these players have put into this season. I could tell that they continued to give 100% effort each and every day on the field. I wish this organization, staff and players nothing but success in their futures."

The Marlins lost their ninth straight Saturday night at Tropicana Field, to drop to 1-17 in the month of June. There are no words.  At least we can consider Saturday's loss a split, of sorts. The...

Marlins Fans Confident (And Likely Inebriated) Despite Current Spiral of Shame

The Marlins have lost 16 of their last 17. They are presently riding their second eight-game losing streak in the month of June. It is actually physically painful to watch them flail about, night...

Thursday's game only *mostly* sucked.

With the Marlins in a tailspin so awful it’s actually fascinating to watch, there is precious little for their fans to celebrate. But as Philadelphia completed a four-game sweep of the Fish on...
