The Grove connection is good, but I do agree with Jason's assessment of the Auburn-Alabama relationship.

Given their defense, I don't think laying 50 is out of the question. Only way this game ends up close, IMO, is if it's a shootout.

I hate that Florida game. They weren't anywhere remotely that much, if any, better than us. But at the end of the day, we played like crap that day. It happens.

We've definitely got the schedule to win big. Given the schedule, 10-2 is probably the worst we should do, and if we split Georgia and Florida, we should hit 11-1. Going undefeated isn't out of the question, either.

A&M in the SEC may be a different animal, though. Texas is loaded with talent, and with UT floundering right now, A&M is going to have some serious recruiting mojo for Texas kids who want to play in the SEC.

I would also argue that both Tennessee and Mizzou would have made bowls out of the B12. After all, Mizzou did just fine in the B12 the year before.

You're right that it's def. possible Nosovitch or Mitch beats Thompson out next year, but right now, you have to imagine it will be Thompson. I agree that we're blessed with real QB depth right now.

He's actually a dual-threat QB, but one who throws the ball exceptionally well. Not really sure why Rivals lists him as a pro-style.

Congrats on the pickup. I don't blame him at all for wanting to stay in-state. Same thing Lattimore and Clowney did for us.

Yeah, Stoops has the Bluegrass faithful believing that he'll turn it around, and Barker wants to be a part of that. I actually admire him for it, although obviously I wanted him to pick us.

Competition factor is another huge reason to want Barker on board. He, Mitch, and Nosovitch will push each other.

Ha, very true. Granted, program quality may play a bigger role in this one. Kentucky is a traditioanl doormat. At least when good players started picking us, there was the suspicion that we might be able to compete one day.

I don't know. He obviously wouldn't play here as a freshman behind Thompson and a more seasoned Mitch, but he looks like a real talent. He might have the chance to beat out Mitch in his RS Freshman year. Would be an interesting QB battle.

Playing for Spurrier is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. I remember when Tebow said he wouldn't have gone to Florida if Spurrier had still been there. Barker seems to be OK with the idea, though.
Commented on What if Drew Barker chooses South Carolina? on May 6 2013, 8:12p
I'm sure Barker is aware of Spurrier's reputation for being hard on his QBs. Heck, given what I've read about Spurrier's recruiting strategy, I'd bet Spurrier told Barker himself.

Well, we do have a senior QB in Shaw, but Dylan Thompson is a junior, and we have a freshman who is redshirting this year named Connor Mitch who was very highly recruited.
