Despite the strong likelihood of a poor record, this 2011-12 New Orleans Hornets team is completely different from the depressing, talent-barren team of 2004-05, and the differences give reason for considerable optimism. Stay on board, Hornets fans - we're making a short pit stop now, but it's going to be a fun and exciting ride back to the top.
In the first Hornets game in the New Orleans Arena in nearly 8 months, the team faced off the against Southwest division rival Memphis Grizzlies. Here are my 5 keys to take away from tonight's final Hornets preseason game, in addition to some post-game commentary from Hornets' Coach Monty Williams.
At long last, a trade has finally been passed through that will send Hornets' superstar point guard Chris Paul, along with two future 2nd round picks, to the Los Angeles Clippers. In return, New Orleans will receive shooting guard Eric Gordon, small forward Al-Farouq Aminu, center Chris Kaman, and the Timberwolves' 2012 first round draft pick.
On the surface, the idea of trading Chris Paul to the Orlando Magic may seem ludicrous from both sides. If we dig deeper, however, we can see that maybe this idea isn't so crazy after all.
A look at the impact that the NBA labor negotiations could have on the Hornets. Can New Orleans benefit from the league's deep-pocketed, agressive owners battling with some of the more conservative owners?

We've all heard the talk around the league concerning this year's MVP "debate." Over the past few weeks, it has become increasingly clear to people around the NBA that Derrick Rose has separated...
Today's column concerns how susceptible the Hornets have been this season to squandering large halftime leads. In particular, I discuss how I feel the team should have fared in these games, how they actually did (worse than expected), and a possible reason for why they under-performed the way they did.
(Andrew wrote most of this, but didn't have time to finish or post it, so I'm taking care of that for him. Go Hornets!) Tonight, the Hornets (40-30, 24-10 home) take on the Celtics (48-19,...
A column on whether or not the Hornets should sit Trevor Ariza for the game against the Celtics on Saturday night. Is guaranteeing a healthy Ariza come playoff time worth the risk associated with keeping him out of the lineup for a few games?

[Another crosspost from Mason from HoopDat. Today, he takes a look at the impact the moves of the rest of the league at the deadline will have on the Hornets.] The past two days have made for the...
