A Detailed Analysis of UFC Submission Rates
In a recent post, Mike Fagan proudly boasted that his prior claim that UFC submission rates weren't falling has been proven true, citing some new percentages. I was surprised at this and questioned just how confident one can be as to the certainty that submission rates weren't falling when much of the data I have been keeping suggests that at the very least, we need more information. Please take a look at some other stats here and decide for yourselves.

The fans treat us like this is our 15th event, our 10th event, whatever it is, and they want the next fight, which is understandable; but the sponsors and the people we're getting money from, and the venues and everything else, they're treating us like it is our third event.
We need to prove to everybody that we're here and we're viable, and that's really what it kind of comes down to. We learn from our mistakes. We move forward and we correct the things that we did wrong. We're being more methodical in each and every event and making sure we do things right the next time.
Tom Atencio on why it's taken so long for Affliction 3.
"I legalized mixed martial arts in Oregon. That's very hard to do. I did that on my own," Sonnen said he lobbied and spoke in front of Senate subcommittees. "I got the laws changed. I opened the doors not only for MMA but also for Vince McMahon and professional wrestling to return to Oregon. I'm not just another guy in this state in terms of MMA, I'm the guy that allowed it to be legal"
Chael Sonnen speaking on ProMMA radio.
Fedor and Mousasi Training Video
Fedor v Aoki *video*
For those who havent seen it yet, the Fedor v Aoki video is now up at the M1 site and on youtube. After watching it, its very clear that this was purely an exhibition fight but it sure was a lot of fun to watch!! I was smiling the whole time!!!
Whilst Ive heard many people saying this was a silly thing to do and served little purpose, I enjoyed watching it and it sure brought some publicity to all involved so you wont find me complaining!

MMA Rankings: The Best Approach
I must admit that whilst reading Luke Thomas' recent post on the the BE rankings being printed in USAT I was a little conflicted. Its great to get that kind of exposure but I wasnt sure that the BE rankings were necessarily the best to use, especially considering Wamma's push to legitimize their rankings through ESPN. Whats next, Sherdog's rankings being displayed in another newpaper and we end up with various media outlets all advertising different rankings, in a similar way to how websites do it at the moment.
