First generation LA Dodger fan, I was a youngster of 12 when the Dodgers moved to L.A. They quickly became my favorite team, of course, and I have been a life-long Dodger fan ever since. My favorite Dodgers come from the various "generations" of Dodgers we've enjoyed over the past 51 years. They begin with the great Sandy Koufax and include such early faves as Charley Neal, Maury Wills, Junior Gilliam, Manny Mota, and the surprise of them all, Wally Moon. There's Ron Cey, Dusty Baker, Davey Lopes and Steve Garvey. Then there's Orel Hershiser, Bill Russell, Pedro Guerrero, Steve Yeager, and of course, Mike Piazza. Finally, there is the incomparable Vin Scully. Was there ever a better Dodger than Vin Scully?
I now live in the Bay Area where I suffer the insufferable Giants and their eternally envious and whiny fans. I love going to Dodger/Giant games with my L.A. cap on. I don't follow baseball as closely as I did when I was younger. Other matters seem to have become more important as I've aged. But I still love to check the scoreboard every morning - especially this year! Go Dodgers!
