Big Blue View What have the Giants been restructuring contracts/saving money for?

So, BJ restructured essentially for Bradshaw. O-Line cut to bring in Bass. Obviously, generalized statements, but makes sense, right? So, after reading a few days ago the restructuring of the D-Backfield contracts, that saved around $8 mil. or so, I think. Right or wrong, they decided not to pay SS12, so I'm left thinking what are they planning with this "leftover" $. I hope to God it's not going to Osi. And supposedly they were at the cap at the end of last week, so it shouldn't be for that. Planning on more injuries and thus having to pay free agents to come in? Is there something going on we're in the dark on? There has been plenty of that going around, so it wouldn't surprise me. Just interesting to think about, especially in light of recent...free agent news to put it nicely.

Now this is purely for fun and filed under never going to happen, but one thing came to mind after all this SS12....stuff. Hey Philly, once DeSean (I know, I cringe just typing his name) jumps ship after this season, how bout he signs a deal with the NYG. That, even in fantasy world, would be contingent upon him offering a heartfelt apology to each and every Giants fan, but then he'd have the chance to beat his old team twice a year. Again, I know this WON'T happen on so many levels, but it's the first thing that came to mind to f over the Eagles.

Just trying to brighten the mood since everyone has already jumped ship and given up treading water. I'm still happy for football and it gives me solace to try to think of the last team that bought an NFL Championship.

Big Blue View "Special" Teams

Listen, I'm not trying to bring anyone down, I'm proud of our guys (for the first time in a few weeks). That being said, I hope this win doesn't cover up our disgusting "special" teams play and personnel. Oh, and the " is because I feel they're blue bus special, not good special.

At half time, I was talking with my pop and said I feel we will lose this game because of "special" teams. I'm glad I was wrong, very glad, but for a while, the Bears were literally one play away from not only getting momentum, but the lead. Last year I was expecting to lose a game or two due to Tynes alone. He's been doing well, which I'm glad about as well. But to potentially lose a game strictly because of a punter is ridiculous. I've been sticking up for the kid, but enough is enough. Don't get me going on Reynaud either. To me, the fact that no moves have been made in our "special" system is insane. Take Miami. They just booted their ST coach the day after an embarrassing performance. From what I hear of their fans, it's been years in the making. Hmmm, sounds awfully familiar...

Again, not trying to bring anyone down from a great W, but a handful of "special" guys may very well lose us a game or two in the future and I wish we'd address it now rather than later. I hope I'm wrong, but this isn't an isolated incident. Am I overreacting?

Big Blue View Tony Washington

I'm sure most of you know of him, and what he did as a teenager. Yeah, it's disgusting. But for whatever reason, I recently checked to see who finally signed him and gave him a chance. As of yesterday, I didn't see anything. I honestly didn't know the whole story and found the following article. I actually kinda feel bad for the kid. Sounds like, unlike half of the damn NFL, this guy actually straightened himself out. I believe he deserves a second chance. I'd give him a chance, personally, but I do understand the NY media would eat him alive and it'd be a PR nightmare.

If nothing else, thought some of you may find this interesting and, not that I'm a fan of doing my sister, but unless he goes to Dallas, Washington or Philly, I'll be cheering him on after reading this article.

Big Blue View Jimmy Clausen

Obviously not that he pertains to us in any way whatsoever, but couldn't help but think as I'm stealing movies through kickasstorrents and piratebay late tonight, everyone is wondering what it is that made him fall. Supposed top 10 talent, blah blah blah, (personally, even if we were in the market for a QB I wouldn't want him, even where he was drafted today as you'll see below) and I don't think it was his injured toe.

In the NFL today, character is HUGE. While Clausen may not have gotten in trouble with the law, ya know, slangin' coke, shooting strippers, doing his sister...the overall consensus, from what I've read, is that for a lack of a better term, this guy is an asshole. If that's the case, and I mean super asshole, cause we all have our moments, I couldn't help but think that it may be the reason why he dropped.

I'm curious what you guys think. I know if I was in a position to draft a QB and he checked out physically, mentally, etc, but he just came off as an overly arrogant prick, and I mean total douche, that alone would definitely make me think how the other guys are going to react to him. This guy is supposed to be the leader of my team, and super douchedom wouldn't go over well, I would think. And yes, confidence is a wonderful trait, but we're not talking confidence, we're talking cocky, with the emphasis on, well, you know.

I have no idea if this is the case, but it really got me thinking. So....

Poll
Picture the biggest douche/asshole you know and attach to him every star quality you'd want in a QB, size, intelligence, arm strength, etc...would his douchedom be enough for you to not pick him if you were a GM and needed a QB?
Yup. Cancer comes in many forms.

No way. MAKE everyone like him cause look at the potential.

Big Blue View Crohn's Disease

Listen, I'm not here to chastise or insult anyone's intelligence, nor give a dissertation on this disease. You can all find your own information and get what you need out of it. I am, however, going to tell you what I deal with having the disease and how that may or may not effect your thoughts on (our hopeful draft pick) Rolando McClain.

Odds are, he has a MUCH better diet than I do, which is one of the major contributing factors of how often he may have "attacks" or "flare ups". That shouldn't be an issue. Stress, unfortunately, is another major issue, but seeing as though he's performed at such a high level for so many years, I don't see that as in issue either.

What no one knows, at this point, is how bad or how far along his disease is. David Garrard has already had a good chunk of his intestine already cut out, which is more towards the worse case end. At that point it's that much more prone to not only coming back, but coming back stronger. I fortunately, am not at that point and am taking Humira (bi-monthly self injections, similar to insulin shots for diabetics) and, knock on wood, doing well considering. Hopefully Ro is not that far along where they need to start whittling away at his intestine.

Now here is where I may call a few people out. What to expect from him, if we were to draft him, in relation to this disease. I can't help but think of people's reactions (mine included at the time), to Terrell Davis's migraines. Oh, they're just headaches, deal with it. Anyone that's had them knows it's no joke. Similarly, when flare ups or attacks happen with Crohn's, it's no joke either.

Ro isn't going to "shit all over himself" as someone suggested. He may wish he could with the amount of pain he's having in his stomach. No, heaven forbid, he was in the middle of a play and an attack happened, odds are, he'd clutch his stomach in pain and sooner than later drop to his knees and feel what the average person could describe as "the worst tummy ache you can imagine". You're helpless and there's nothing you can do until it decides to pass. That may be a few minutes or many hours. You try to stay hydrated, but anything you take down usually comes right back up, thus leading to dehydration and a potential ER visit.

Having said this, it shouldn't scare anyone away due to how well he's supposedly been for such a long period of time. Again, compared to me, he's got the best dieticians/nutritionalists, doctors, etc, so he'll be well taken care of. So, in summation (yeah, I know I ramble) this incurable disease can be dealt with, to a point, but attacks/flare ups can happen at any time and aren't a joke.

It was described to me, when I was first diagnosed, like a clogged artery leading to a heart attack, but with your digestive system and intestines. It's blocking the normal flow of waste and when it can't pass, not only is it potentially toxic to your system, it can cause excruciating pain. Didn't really end on a positive note, sorry, but just wanted to give an up close and personal account of what's going on here. Again, his career should be pretty close to normal without much cause for concern. There, that's a better ending.

Big Blue View McClain

Okay, so here I sit, waiting for McClain to come out, and as a huge fan of the Giants getting him, want him to do, well, not as good as some predicted so he may "slide" to us at 15. Interestingly, he weighed in and then decided to leave, not due to injury, but just because. I think this may be a blessing in disguise. This move should piss off quite a few teams, I would imagine, thus hopefully letting him "slide" to us at 15. Time will tell, of course, but for those of you joining me in LOVING this guy, this is good news for us.

On a quick conspiracy theory note, I happen to think I know why McClain may have chosen not to work out. You'll like this one. So, I'm McClain. I know I'm good. I know I've been spoken of being picked as high as 5. Not likely, but possible, especially with a great combine. I hear the Giants are interested at 15, but I probably will be picked before that, unless I either shit the bed at the combine or do something to piss off the other teams. I mean, do I really wanna play for Oakland, Cleveland or Seattle? NY is THE market to be in and I would almost assuredly have the potential to start immediately. Hmmm.... :)

Big Blue View Super Bowl in NY (NJ)

Okay, so I apologize if one of these has already been done, I checked back a month or so, but I'm really curious what everyone thinks about having the Super Bowl at our new stadium in 2014. Politi from nj.com just wrote a nice article about why it should be at home, despite not having a roof, retractable or not.

http://www.nj.com/super-bowl/index.ssf/2010/02/politi_no_reason_new_meadowlands_stadium_shouldnt_host_super_bowl.html

My comment, on his page, was basically if one can be in Indianapolis in 2 years, why not? Yes I understand they have a new dome, but other than that, what would entice me to take out (another) mortgage to "vacation" in glorious Indianapolis in the beginning of February? Everyone wants to talk about the weather being the main factor, but aside from the mere 4 hours or so during the actual game itself, what else is the NFL going to do with EVERYTHING else surrounding the game? The NFL Experience, the media events/parties, etc. That should be a blast with historically much colder temperatures and much, much more snow than NY/NJ in February. If everything is inside, I hope they have some ginormous facilities to handle the huge crowds necessary for Super Bowl events. I'll be very curious to see how all that turns out in a couple years. If it does go over smoothly, I think that's even more reason to think it would flourish in the big city...

I could go on for a while, but I'll finish with this - arguably the biggest issue is the "fans" sitting in the cold. First of all, what's the percentage of actual fans at the Super Bowl? I doubt it's a large # seeing as though, from what I hear, it's basically corporate execs and celebrities who just "want to be seen". Even though I haven't been to one, come on people, realistically, watching them on TV, even split, the crowds just don't seem that into it. Not like 2 weeks past when a non neutral site held it and you could see the love (or hate) in every seat. The Super Bowl should be like college bowl games. Half one color, half the other.

So the "fans" sitting in the cold would be an issue, eh? They obviously didn't ask me, because I'd be more than happy to sit in the cold if Jack Nicholson or whoever opted out. And I don't think they have to look too far back to prove this point...1/20/2008, -3 degrees and -24 degree wind chill, fans shoveling their seats out and not an empty seat in the house to see arguably the greatest Conference Championship ever.

I think it would be fantastic for the NY/NJ area, for TV, for true fans and for the NFL. What do you guys think?

Poll
If you were in the market for a Super Bowl vacation, would the fact that it would be held in NY/NJ ultimately have you opt out?
Yes, if I'm blowing $ I don't have, I at least want to be somewhere warm

Hell no, that's the way the game should be played! Bring on the snow and cold!
