AP or TO? Who's the man? We're not going to find out in game 4 of the preseason but it's worth debating. Chances are we'll see if Gus Frerotte is better than Brad Johnson. Plus, you can follow some of the players from HBO's Hard Knocks and see if they're going to make the team. Click on the link below when the game starts at 8pm EST!

Dolphins release safety Keith Davis
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2008/08/dolphins-rele-1.html
do we need him ?????????????
This is a strange and untimely move for several reasons.
First: Davis has been starting on practically every special team the Dolphins play. He has, by all accounts, acquitted himself well on those special teams. So that causes questions.
Secondly: The team is under the 75-man roster limit. It didn't need to release anyone. So it raises eyebrows that Davis would get released when there was no roster mechanism that required the move.
I am not suggesting the move is caused by outside circumstances but this smells funny.

Spencer out a couple of weeks
Anthony Spencer out 2-4 weeks

OLB Anthony Spencer's right knee injury was worse than the Cowboys thought.
Wade Phillips said Spencer is expected to miss 2-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today. That means the 2007 first-round pick could miss the first two games of the regular season, putting plans to increase his role on hold.
The Cowboys thought Spencer suffered a bone bruise on his knee during the preseason opener. They considered him day-to-day after it happened, but doctors decided to clean up part of the patella tendon because of swelling.
"It kept getting irritated," Phillips said. "It'd go down and then it'd go back. There was just a particle in there that kept catching."
Spencer's surgery significantly increases the odds of sixth-round pick Erik Walden making the team.

Interesting Idea on how to get R W - WR
http://thedallascowboyshow.com/wordpress/?p=561]
this from Shango's site
The Detroit Lions suddenly need help after Takeo Spikes decided to sign with the 49ers instead of them. Well, it just so happens we have Bobby Carpenter who would really fit into a 4-3 system better than 3-4 anyways and it just so happens Dallas is in desperate need of a WR….preferably one named Roy Williams.
If Dallas offered Bobby Carpenter to help vill their void and throw in a draft pick, I think the Lions’s might bite
Interesting take on the whole idea - I like it

My impressions
Austin - A++ - caught every thing thrown his way 5 -64 yrds
F Jones A++ - Great moves
Z Thomas A+ - made some nice plays
Choice + - nice backup would not mind him playing for MBII if he gets hurt
Scandrick A+ - had hes nose on every play
Curtis - he just seem to find the open spot
A Spencer - made some nice plays
Carp F - how do you let a little full back knock you on your a** for a touchdown -
might as well trade him
B Johnson F - we need somebody besides him
Stanback F+ - drops a kick off - oh he caught one pass for 5 yards our future number one WR - Might as well cut his him

Former Cowboys QB Carter gets look in Miami
DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins drew another name from the past of Bill Parcells on Thursday, working out former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter.
But Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said the workout is merely an evaluation of Carter, an arena league quarterback who started for the Cowboys and New York Jets before poor play and drug-related arrests ended his NFL career.
"We're just going to keep turning over, flipping over stones and bringing in a lot of people," Sparano said. "And it probably won't change for two to three years. Quincy is here and we will have a workout with Quincy."
Sparano said he's been pleased with all three quarterbacks currently on the roster -- Josh McCown, John Beck and rookie Chad Henne -- and Carter's workout is not a sign the team wants to move away from them.
"I have been pleased with the quarterbacks, and I think the competition is really good," Sparano said. "It just means we have to make sure we're doing our due diligence on what's available."
Carter was dismissed by the Cowboys in 2004 -- a team coached by Parcells, now vice president of football operations for Miami. Carter's understanding of the Dolphins' offense would seem to make him a good fit in Miami, which has struggled to get consistent quarterback play in training camp
