Cliff Lee

Found this on mlb.com, regarding trades that didnt happen that have had an impact.

1. Cliff Lee, Indians
• Then: The Tribe was desperate to find a taker for Lee, who had spiraled from a top Cy Young Award contender in 2005 to a Minor League journeyman in 2007. But the $10.5 million remaining on the 29-year-old left-hander's contract turned off potential suitors.

A couple of weeks into Spring Training, the Indians appeared stuck with Lee. He'd been bombed for 17 hits and eight runs in his first 8 2/3 exhibition innings. Only his guaranteed contract kept earning him more chances,

• Now: This is the guy keeping the new name of the '07 AL Central champs' ballpark from being Regressive Field. **At 5-0, he owns one fewer win than the rest of the rotation (Fausto Carmona, C.C. Sabathia, Paul Byrd and Jake Westbrook) combined.

His statistics read like typos, with an 0.96 ERA, 32 strikeouts to two walks, and one baserunner allowed every two innings.

Says the AL April Pitcher of the Month's manager, Eric Wedge: "That's nothing you'd expect from anyone at this level, the highest level in the world. To have a month like that is very special."

** I bolded that part because eventhough I am a fan, I found it a bit humorous

Cliff Lee wants to be a starter

"If that's not the case, he wants to be one of the five starting pitchers for somebody else."

The Indians say they are not actively trying to trade Lee, but they wouldn't say no if the right deal was presented. Club officials said Tuesday they're surprised at the lack of interest teams have show in Lee. He won 18 games in 2005 and has pitched 200 or more innings in 2004.

Dont crucify me for saying this especially since they lost. But Westbrook pitched well in the ALCS. So if anything, that was a bright spot. Either way it sucks. I hate to say it, but i saw this collapse coming. Theres a certain "luster" for lack of a better term, that the indians just dont have and boston does. oh well GO Rockies!

"With the Yankees re-energized and at home, the decision to pitch Paul Byrd in Monday's Game 4 at Yankee Stadium instead of probable Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia on three days' rest might just turn out to be one the Cleveland organization regrets for years.
I keep reading things related to options and arbitration and i wonder how do you know so much about some of the business things of baseball? For example, the whole, options, arbitration, and everything that goes along with those type of roster moves? Is there somewhere that I can read up on that as reference?

Considering his recored against the tribe, I really cant complain. I wonder what kind of moves, if any, will the tribe make this trade deadline.

Indians vs. Marlins 6/14/07

Ive been an Indians fan my entire life and last night was my first "real" Indians game. Ive lived in Miami my entire life so its obvious the Indians dont always play the Marlins in Miami. It was freaking awesome!!

Best thing about seeing the Indians in person last night:

Victor's homerun - it was a thing of beauty.

Aaroon Boone's error- i had just finished telling a friend about Boone's propensity for shitt fielding and sure enough Boone didnt disappoint.

Getting the win and winning the series - hopefully this ends the shitty week they had.

Jason Stanford - I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Great performance, congrats to him.

Worst things about seeing the Indians in person last night:

Hafner did not play- I was hoping for a pinch hit appearance but that didnt happen.

So-called Marlins fan hassling me about the Indians logo being "racist" - I just want to watch a baseball game. I do not want to talk/hear about politics. Just let me enjoy my first indians game in peace.

Again it was awesome to finally see the tribe in person. I had not seen them live since a 1993 exhibition vs the expansion Marlins down in homestead. Hopefully, they'll come back to Miami soon.

Thanks fellow Tribe fans for letting me share my experience with you. Go Tribe.

I came across this today. ITs funny, because a couple days ago I was thinking the exact same thing.

"Travis Hafner. Congrats to GM Mark Shapiro and his guys for locking up Hafner on what one agent called the "worst player contract in baseball.'' The fellow with perhaps the best numbers in the AL will make $4 million this year and $5 million next, making him underpaid by at least half."

Source: CNNSI
