University of Miami Football Team Advertising For "Any Student That Is At Least 6'1 And 230+ Pounds"
Is this a sign of a University of Miami football apocalypse? The Hurricanes are are posting fliers around the school Wellness Center, asking "any student that is at least 6'1 and 230+ pounds" to contact the team about becoming offensive linemen.
We gotta say, this does not strike us as Division-1 behavior.
Orton a Cowboy
So, in other news regarding QB's not named Manning or Tebow ...
Shad Khan Would Have Drafted Tim Tebow
The host of the show then asked Khan if he would have drafted Tim Tebow. "100 percent I would have. Absolutely," Khan said. "The first Jaguars game I came to was in '10, we played Denver here. There were a lot more Tebow jerseys in the Jaguars stands than the teal jerseys for any player, let's face it. You hate to get into 20/20 hindsight and finger pointing, but certainly if I had anything to do with it. We probably won't have a chance like that again."
McCoy to stay in Denver? Jags hire Mularkey
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be hiring Mike Mularkey as their new head coach, according to a report by Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union.
Broncos viewers nearly match Jags viewers ... in Jacksonville
Typically, geography factors into which games are aired, which is why Denver traditionally doesn't make the cut in Florida, but Tebow's local ties and cult-like following attract viewers.
West said the Denver-San Diego game generated a 19.9 Nielsen rating, nearly equal to that of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who drew a 21.1 rating for last weekend's game against Houston.

Kriegel: Don't let the numbers fool you on Tebow
It’s not that Tebow is better than his numbers suggest. Rather, the numbers don’t measure what he does well — and, no, I’m not referring to his "intangibles," either.
First, for all of his shortcomings as a passer, Tebow doesn’t throw many interceptions (only one this season). Second, conventional passer ratings don’t take into account his considerable ability as a runner. Tebow isn’t like any of his predecessors. He isn’t a "scrambler." He’s a downhill runner — easily as big as most fullbacks — who runs from the pocket, typically charging into an already spread-out field.

Brandon Marshall seeks ejection
Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall says he has been playing with his emotions in check and plans to show more passion Monday night against the New York Jets, with a goal of getting kicked out of the game in the second quarter.
When asked if he was joking, Marshall said no.
"I'm not joking. I'm serious," Marshall told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "They're going to fine me. It's probably going to be like a $50,000 fine. But that quarter and a half that I'm out there, I'm going to play like a monster.

2 Gators up for NFL Rookie of the Week
Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos, and Joe Haden, CB, Cleveland Browns are both up for NFL Rookie of the Week.
Tim Tebow led Denver to a 17-point come-from-behind win against Houston: 16/29, 308 yards, 1 TD / 1 INT, 1 rushing TD.
Joe Haden made 5 tackles, forced 1 sack, recovered 1 fumble, and had an interception in the Browns' loss to the Ravens.
It's pretty cool to see two Gators, on both sides of the ball, up for Rookie of the Week. (Although Joe Webb looked really good against the Eagles.)
Teryl Austin treated for stomach pains
Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin is being treated for stomach pains at a Tampa hospital and his status for Saturday's Outback Bowl against Penn State is uncertain.
How will Tebow perform against Oakland?
Quarterback controversy?
To begin Denver's 3-10 season, Kyle Orton showed much promise and plenty of fire, and his playing clearly stated, "I am the starting quarterback". He led the league in passing yardage (sometimes compensating for a poor rushing game). Through the first 8 games, Orton's statistics are 195/316 (61.7%), 2510 yds, 12 TD / 5 INT, and a 92.7 rating.
As the season progressed, the passing offense, including Orton, regressed. His statistics for games 9-13 are 98/182 (53.8 %), 1143 yds, 8 TD / 4 INT, and a 78.6 rating. Recently the QB controversy has intensified.
Orton supporters cite his experience, noting that the veteran quarterback would give Denver the best chance to win. Tebow supporters cite his potential, noting that his mobility may give Denver an extra edge on offense.
I am not here to debate who should start (barring Orton's injury, of course).
Instead, I ask what do you expect from Tebow tomorrow? More after the jump.

Vote Tim Tebow for NFL Rookie of the Week
Wouldn't it be nice to have a break from the Meyer/Addazio/offensive malaise news cycle, and take some time to vote Timmy for NFL Rookie of the Week?
Saw the link at Mile High Report.
Riley Cooper chooses NFL over MLB
"Football's definitely the route I want to take," Cooper said. "Toward the last couple of weeks of the football season, I knew that's what I wanted to do. That's my makeup, my mentality. I'm just a football player, not a baseball player."
Vols fan wants to rename waste treatment plant after Kiffin
Now they're starting to come around:
There's no love lost between Tennessee fans and Lane Kiffin.
Knoxville attorney Drew McElroy has filed paperwork with the Knoxville City Council's Public Properties and Facilities Naming Committee to rename a waste water treatment plant the “Lane Kiffin Sewage Center,” according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
“It dawned on me -- Lane Kiffin told us that he hoped the fans would understand. I thought 'Well, naming the wastewater plant for him would let him know, I think very clearly, we do understand,'“ McElroy told the paper. “We want to memorialize his stay here, and I think this would be doing it appropriately.”

Symptoms of a midlife crisis
WebMD describes a midlife crisis as a transition concerning one's life structure. For many people, the life structure centers around family or work, but other factors such as religion and economic status may also apply. This transition normally occurs between the ages of 37 and 50 (*cough* 45), and is generally triggered by a "life event", such as a child finishing college (or, ahem, entering college).
Below is an excerpt where WebMD discusses how a midlife crisis may overlap with serious depression:
In midlife, people need to be aware of symptoms of serious depression, such as:
- Change in eating habits
- Change in sleeping habits, fatigue
- Feelings of pessimism or hopelessness
- Restlessness, anxiety or irritability
- Feeling of guilt, helplessness or worthlessness
- Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed, including sex and hobbies
- Thoughts of suicide or attempts at suicide
- Physical aches or pains such as headaches or gastrointestinal upset that don't respond to treatment
Brandon James out for Sugar Bowl
Florida's Brandon James, who leads the team in all-purpose yards, will not play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl after having surgery on his right foot.
James, a senior from St. Augustine, broke a bone in foot against Alabama in the Southeastern Conference title game and had surgery last week.
Tebow: Ezekiel 26:19-21 for FSU
Others have posted that Tebow should wear Ezekiel 25:17 (from Pulp Fiction) against Tennessee.
How about seeing Ezekiel 26:19-21 against FSU?
For thus says the Lord GOD: When I make you a city desolate like cities that are no longer inhabited, when I churn up the abyss against you, and its mighty waters cover you, then I will thrust you down with those who descend into the pit, those of the bygone age; and I will make you dwell in the nether lands, in the everlasting ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you may never return to take your place in the land of the living.
I will make you a devastation, and you shall be no more; you shall be sought, but never again found, says the Lord GOD.
