Acme Packing Company Mike McCarthy's record in "close" games

With the close loss to the Patriots this week, Mike McCarthy's ability to win close games has been called into question. I decided I wanted to go back and look at every game of the McCarthy era to try to get a sense of how his teams perform in tight games and whether this concern is justified.

I think the first thing that needs to be considered is what constitutes a "close" game. For this exercise, I considered any game in which the Packers led or trailed by 10 points or less or went into overtime as "close." I've shown my work below. If you want to skip it and go to the summary, I understand (it's long), otherwise read on.

Acme Packing Company Matchup to watch this week

Since we all need a break from discussing who the Packers should and should not acquire or get rid of, I thought I'd do a post on what I think will be the most important matchup of the Packers-Redskins game. If you're still interested, follow the jump!

I know it's not the guy they wanted, but I have to believe this is going to help their offense be more effective next year.

Acme Packing Company Jon Jansen

The Redskins relased their 10-year right tackle Jon Jansen today. My question is, with our current uncertainty at right tackle, should we consider offering Jansen a 1 - 2 year deal? It would give us time to groom a replacement, which seems like it would be either Barbre (who's switching from the left side), Lang (who's a rookie that no one seems to know if he can play tackle in this league), Moll (who has never really impressed me), Giacomini (who's still recovering from surgery), or Meredith (who we would prefer at left tackle).

Acme Packing Company We matched Bush's offer sheet?!!

I can't possibly be the only Packer's fan who saw the news that the Titans had made an offer for Jerrett Bush and thought to myself "Thank goodness, I don't have to watch him commit any more stupid 15-yard penalties or blow any more coverages. He's someone else's problem now." And then I see that TT matches Tennessee's offer? I actually cried out in dismay.

Why, why would you match this offer Ted? I was upset enough that we signed Anthony Smith, but now we have two crappy back-up safeties instead of one. I don't get it, Jerrett Bush is not, I repeat, NOT a good football player. I can't be alone in feeling like this.
