I like his production in college and he was the Defensive MVP for the East-West Shrine Bowl. I wouldn't count him out of the race for the 53-man roster. He at least makes the practice squad, in my humble opinion.

I don't need to know your name to like your website and appreciate your opinions and articles.

I just listened to your interview on 1070thefan (here) and thought you handled yourself WAY more professionally than Bob Kravitz. Skip Kravitz anyway. He's old-fashioned and must not understand what the internet is and what it's used for...

To be honest, my theory on all of this was blown to hell when I heard you are paid for what you do. Not that I feel you don't deserve it, because I know you work hard. I figured that was the most significant difference between a "Columnist" and a "Blogger," but I was wrong. If anything, the fact that he uses his name is just his way of making sure that once he gets fired from the Star he can use his resume and past articles to find himself a new job. He could care less about the Colts. Does he still care as much about the Browns as he used to when he wrote in Cleveland? That you don't use your name, but truly care about writing articles and posting links to news about something you care about, in my honest opinion, is a much more real reflection of yourself than an article that Kravitz has to write to keep a pay check coming in.

Also, I and most of readers here can probably agree that we could care less if you get to attend Press Conferences due to having "press credentials." It doesn't legitimize your ability to provide insight or generate discussion. Let's face it, the Colts are so highly secretive that it can't truly provide anything except the ability to reproduce the same story that is going to show up on Colts.com (3 to 4 days later) a little sooner, but what insight does it really provide? Let's take Kravitz's complaint a step further. Is that jagoff expecting me to go get a journalism degree and work my way into a media that is dying (aka newspaper journalism) just for me, an active commenting blogger, to be taken seriously when giving my opinion in a comment or Fanpost??

And lastly, what is a name really other than just a way to represent, market and brand oneself? I don't always pay attention initially to who wrote an article but may glance up after I read it. I could create a screen name close to my real name but it makes me no less or more of a person who is accountable for my words, actions or thoughts. On the other hand, I could change my legal name to my AOL screenname from 1996, but it doesn't serve any purpose other than telling other people how to address me. For that matter, just to piss him off, what's stopping those in the blogosphere from all changing our screen names to some iteration of Bob Kravitz (ie bkravtiz69, bobbinforkravtizes, etc.)?

He bit off more than he can chew and I hope it bites him in the ass. Thank you for what you all do and I appreciate your candor and accessability with us the fans of your site and as always....

Ridiculously early 53-man Roster Debate (*New* OL Poll - Updated 5/01)

SECOND UPDATE: Surprisingly, I got no more requests for particular head-to-head player debates so we're moving on to position roster numbers. This should stimulate a few more head-to-head player polls eventually. Remember to comment, if you're voting "Neither" and to suggest new polls. Thanks for participating!

Also, I'm not ignoring the Keiaho re-signing, but we'll put off adding him back in until we've debated LBs. Plus, I'm convinced he might not make the squad. Those 6 there now, would make me pretty confident with depth and special-teams ability.

UPDATE: We're going to make this a bit more interactive and have some 1 on 1 player predictions first. We'll later do total #s for different positions. We will do them in the order they are mentioned in the Comments section.

I'm absolutely certain I'll be way off (considering we haven't even seen the full list of UDFA's) but they made me take time off at work (mandatory furlough) so I am wasting my time appropriately on the Colts. I'm somewhat guessing on the Practice Squad eligibility rules, but I think they would all still qualify.

Please dissect, rebut and ridicule!

_________________________________________________________

Day 1 (4/28/09): Grady vs. Dawson - Grady wins 17 to 13, I'm sure we'll revisit this roster spot when we're deciding numbers on the DL. Unfortunately, Dawson would not qualify for the practice squad.

Day 2 (4/29/09): Alexander vs. Senn - Senn wins 12 to 11, I was pulling for Alexander, but Senn is more valuable as a ST player, a role which I saw Adam Seward filling, but hey - this is a community thing. As an aside, sorry about the polls being funky, I got it figured out though. Please comment for new 1 on 1 roster spots!!!!!

Day 3 (4/30/09): Hall vs. Giguere - Hall wins 11 to 4, I do feel there's a chance we keep 6 WRs on this year due to the lack of proven depth behind Wayne and Gonzo, but if that's the case we the roster spot form somewhere. Otherwise, Giguere could stick around on the practice squad, unless he's hungry to see the field, in which case he might run off to the CFL, where I'm sure they're anxiously awaiting their prodigal son.

Day 4 (5/1/09): How many Offensive Lineman make the final roster?

I know he wasn't a fan favorite but I really was pulling for him to go through a full camp with Indy to see if we could develop him back into the dominating ILB that he was in college.

This looks like yet another step toward revamping the linebacker core. Hagler, Keiaho and Davis gone. I'd hate to think they're even consider getting rid of Gary, but he's not fitting the mold they seems to be looking for. Seward and Wheeler are much bigger than other LBs we've had on the roster for awhile. If they're really serious about Jason Williams he has some really decent size as well. We'll have to wait and see...in Polian we trust.

Another WR Prospect - Dudley Guice

Dudley Guice

I just read on kffl that we showed interest in this guy (here) and they have a video profile of him on draftguys.com (here). I also read an interview with him (here) and he sounds like a hard worker and an overall good character guy. My favorite part of the interview here:

I’m just speaking for myself, but to my knowledge, a lot of guys just want to get drafted. But in my estimation, I (don’t just) want to get drafted, I want to be a name. I want to be a household name. I want to make things happen, I (don’t just) want to get drafted and just be on a roster, I actually want to make things happen and accomplish some goals. Because I’m real goal-oriented, and I think when you (set) goals, you’ll be successful...

Granted he's another small school prospect (Northwestern State in Louisiana) like Garcon that can be used as a WR and maybe KR but as far as value, Indy might be interested in grabbing him later in the draft so they can focus on some other areas of need.

Remarkably impressive numbers from his Pro-day yesterday and but what sold me is that he looks great on video. Catches the ball with his hands and goes to get the ball. Would love to see more info on him. Since the Colts have shown interest, maybe he'll show up on "Who the Hell Will They Draft 2009"? (wink wink, nudge nudge).

GO HORSE!!!
