Eric Hayes going to the nba D-league
I just saw Eric Hayes announce it on Facebook (yeah, Facebook friends with him, don't judge) and it's confirmed by the team website:
http://www.nba.com/dleague/canton/news/charge_sign_eric_hayes_2012_02_22.html
The Canton Charge announced that they have claimed guard Eric Hayes (6-4, 180, Maryland) via the available player pool. Hayes was a four-year letterman at the University of Maryland who most recently was with Leche Rio Breogan Lugo of the Spanish league.
In 23 games with Leche Rio Breogan Lugo in 2010-2011, Hayes averaged 8.9 points on .458 shooting with 1.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals in 22.3 minutes per game. He also had a stint in the NBA Summer League with the Washington Wizards in 2010.
Hayes, 24, played in 133 career games at Maryland and averaged 9.0 points on .447 shooting with 2.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steal in 29.1 minutes per game. He had a strong senior season in which he played in 33 games and averaged 11.3 points on .502 shooting with 2.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 30.7 minutes per game. Hayes is the Terrapins’ all-time career free throw percentage leader, hitting .869 percent on 187-of-215 shooting.
Steve Yanda meet up at Hard Times in Bethesda?
Is anyone going to "discuss Yanda's coverage of the Terps", aka, "force him to explain his negative coverage" tonight? It's at the Hard Times in Bethesda at 7 pm, I think. Here is the invite from Terrapins Insider
Let's get together (confirmation)
<!-- begin category/blogger sigs --> <!----> <!-- end category/blogger sigs -->Alright, we're going to set in stone the particulars of next week's gathering:
Wednesday, April 7
Hard Times in Bethesda
7:30 p.m.
I'll post one more reminder on Tuesday or early Wednesday of next week. I look forward to seeing everyone who can attend.
Jerome Burney/team training pics
I'm not sure how concerned anyone is, but Jerome Burney's facebook status this morning said something about how "the blogs are reporting that I'm going to transfer but this is news to me", and he goes on to deny that he would ever transfer.
Also, speaking of being a facebook stalker, Paul Ricci, the team's strength trainer, has facebook profile with a bunch of cool photos of the team training in the weight room. I added him as a friend and had a brief chat with him about the workout, he seems like a cool guy who was excited that people are interested in their training regime. So I definitely recommend adding him as a facebook friend and checking out his albums.
Vasquez to return
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2009/news/story?id=4260925
That is some great news for the Terps. If we could net Stephenson (and he somehow pans out to a drama-free contributor) we could be a great team. I was worried for a while Vasquez was going to leave. Everyone kept saying "he'd be smarter if he stayed another year" but I could totally see him making an impulsive decision and deciding to leave.
Dumb story - just met Juan Dixon
So I just met Juan Dixon at my gym in Bethesda, I'm pretty star struck and felt the need to share it with someone, haha. He was amazingly laid back, making random small talk with other people. He is also surprisingly weak...he crapped out after squating 135 pounds 10 times. Juan is a huge personal hero of mine (and probably some of you guys, too) so I thought it was pretty cool. I'm glad I wasn't wearing my "Juan Dicks-in your mouth" t-shirt from back in the day.
