Canal Street Chronicles Woah! My initial thoughts are positive...

 http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=5136454&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

While I certainly don't have the x's and o's acumen of some of the contributors at this site, I'm definitely very intrigued by the prospects here.  Although, I'm not sure we have the room to sign someone like Thomas.  With him being released like this, can we sign him or are we prevented due to the final 8 rule (like other free agents)?

But, with our well documented needs not being "addressed" in the draft - it sure seems like he could help.

What say you?

Canal Street Chronicles Text Alerts

Hello Who Dats!

I live in the Phoenix area, but like any other Who Dat I crave up to the minute info on the Saints.  I recently (inadvertantly) signed up out here for Suns text alerts through one of the big sports stations out here.  While I'm not a huge Suns fan, it has me thinking that WWL or some other place in NOLA might be doing this for the Saints.  And, if so, it could be really cool.  For instance, I'm getting pretty quick injury info etc - and, I'm thinking that stuff that might be good to know could be released that way before the NFL draft.

So, is this going on in NOLA with the Saints.  If so, by whom, and is it good info and worth signing up?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Canal Street Chronicles Can someone help out a family friend?

Fellow Who Dats,

A friend of my dad's just emailed me a question, and I'm at a loss. I thought the NFL.com did something like he's asking about in conjunction with their network.  But, I can't seem to find it.  Here is the question:

I was wondering...is there a place that will archive the Saints game for me - so I can watch it "after the fact?" I will be out Sat night and likely will not be able to record it because I do not subscribe to the NFL Network. I know places online where I can watch it live online (like Justin.tv) - but wonder if, after its over, I can see the full game. Ideas? I know how to use torrents, but I don't know if people archive sports games online.  Anyways I am open to suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Canal Street Chronicles Drumming Up Controversy

Is it really necessary?

We know the Saints have not played well the last 2 weeks, but they've won.  They've won close this year, they've won ugly this year, but by and large they've played well all year and blown out some really good teams too.

But, most of all - THEY'VE WON!  Which is more than they can say for last year when they lost 5 by a FG or fewer points.

I've seen it here, heard it on the Worlwide Leader, and I've heard it on the radio.  Now, ESPN's NFC South blogger, Pat Yasinkas, is questioning the strength of the Saints.  In particular the D.  See it here

I don't think anyone is discounting how tough a time we've had defending the pass.  But, as Pat Yasinkas points out, it would likely be a lot better with Greer, Porter, and Fujita.  And, it WILL be a lot better when they come back - which will be for the playoff run.

But, then he makes the tired argument that you need to play well in December to play well in January.  We only need to look to last year to find out how dumb that argument is.  Just look at what the Cardinals did last season.

And, let's be real here, any team that wins 13 games or more in a season in the NFL is going to win some close games - see the Pat's 2007 schedule weeks 9,12,13, and 17 (not coincidentally all in the 2nd half of the season).
