Royals Review Some Betancourt Positives

I'm getting sick of all the Royal's hate, jokes and negativity. We have a new SS. He's better than TPJ'r right? Bloomquist has missed 2 straight games at SS, is almost 32 and was never a SS to begin with.  Now we have someone who many think is one of the worst players in MLB. A few years ago however he was considered one of the more talented young SS's in MLB. Let's give him a chance. Atleast I'll root for him.  And for the record, we didn't dismantle our bullpen for Jacobs and Crisp  in this trade.  Cortes isn't vying for the closer role in Florida and Saito isn't leading all Boston pitchers in WHIP.

Here are some Positives about Betancourt (from various sources - just for you kabrink the plagiarism police chief:)

Scott Thorman is hitting .343 with 11 HR's in Omaha...I want Dejesus in CF and this dude LF and Jacobs off the roster.

Royals Review "According to this board"

Alex Gordon is the savior and the best player in Royals history......he should be given the key to the city and no one should ever challenge him for 3B in the next 10 years as long as he hits 15 HR's, Strikes out only 120 times and hits .260.

Also, Guillen is the worst OF in MLB, Farnsworth worst reliever in MLB history, and Moore and Hillman need to get fired.  Moore traded two future MVP candidates in Nunez and Ramirez for two horrible, OBP deficient players and Hillman's ridiculos coaching  has cost the Royals 5 wins and we should be 23-6 without him. Greinke's contract was only good, not a great move (although Buster Olney said Moore should be given executive of the year just for locking him before this year).

What other prevalent opinions  on this board am i missing?

Royals Review I admit I was wrong about Farnsworthless - he's absolute garbage - so i pose the question

Is Dayton Moore/Trey Hillman one of the lesser GM/Coaching combo in the Majors???

Why on earth do you sign such a horrible reliever for 10 million and trade two much better relievers who are locked in at extremely low salaries for serveral years? I understand Moore thinks one of his strong suits is that he can put together a solid bullpen.

Just seeing Gload, Tomko, Nomo, Yabuta, Bloomquits, Farnsworth, Pena Jr, Olivo continue to absolutely blow kind of blows my mind.

Can Guillen, Jacobs, Meche, Soria, Davies, Crisp make up for the blunders???

Are they that good? Will Hillman continue to show poor judgement with his lineup???

He went 6 innings and struck out 4. 4 more outings like this and he will be up soon to replace Ramirez. I think we will have a very good rotation because I really think Ponson will have a great year, along the lines of his 2002-2004 years

Royals Review So Guillen is the 3rd worst player in MLB according to Joe Poo

And the Royals miss him dearly. I bet my life he would have had atleast an RBI double against either Pettite or Sabathia. (he killed Petitte last year)

He was actually the best hitter in MLB that month when he first roasted the Yankees for what, like 4 homeruns, 10 RBI and going 9 for 16? The Royals would have lost all 4 games with two blowouts without him, instead they win two and almost win the other two.

Now we have PROOF that we need him as Gordon proves he belongs in double A, Jacobs has not improved, Butler is turning into a headcase and Dejesus/Aviles can't lead the team with just bloopers.

Royals Review It's great to see Bannister getting shelled in Omaha

Sorry if this upsets anyone but he's not good enough to be a MLB caliber pitcher. He was one of the worst starters last year and should never get promoted. Let Ponson and Ramirez battle it out for the 4th spot (Ponson looked ok out there and with better defense at first - Jacobs should have stopped that ball with his body - it would have been a  really good start)

And we can promote Hochevar (who pitched well his first start in Omaha) after the 15th to delay his arbitration clock.

Royals Review We just signed Sidney Ponson

For whatever that is worth. Does he have a chance to make the big league club?  He was knighted by the Queen of Netherlands! HAHAHAH. This guy is awesome. Anyone who goes to the bar/strip club and goes bananas while being quite abusive would add a lot to our ball club. I think he also attacked a judge!

good signing! Maybe we an cut Bannister now. That guy shoud be designated for assignmetn - the worst starting pitcher in major league baseball. After all the Guillen hate on this board there seems to be a lot of support for Bannister? Why he's horrible.

I live in NY and a talk show host said Teahen would be a possibilty to fill in for Arod while he is injured....

I say throw in Bannister and get maybe Hughes or Kennedy back

Farnsworth ERA was 3.64 last year if you don't count his last inning pitched in which he gave up 6 runs - thats not too bad!

Royals Review What if Theo Epstein was our GM?

How happy would we be if John Smoltz, Brad Penny, and Tashioko Saito were Royals next year?  How much better would we be to have them signed on incentive laden contracts?

Although Moore really outdid himself with the Farnsworth and Bloomquist deals, I felt great about the first moves because we needed speed and power and Crisp/Jacobs represent those two elements respectively. When you consider the fact Ramon Ramirez was acquired for absolute $hit the deal looks even better.

Until the Baseball world wakes up and realizes its not fair to force small market teams to have years of  losing, drafting well and rebuilding in order to reach the playoffs and implements a fair salary cap Moore will always look like a failure because of the poor, overpriced FA moves that he makes.

Would Theo have to overpay? He would have done the Crisp deal because he signed him before? Would Theo been experience and shrewd enough to find Soria in a Mexican League or Davies off the Braves roster??

Dayton does have some skills

Royals Review Guillen is our best hitter - I dare you to question this

He will hit 24 homeruns and 98 RBI's while having an OBP of .350

He's scored 80 plus runs in those years. Guess who had the most runs on our team had?? Dejesus at 72

Why because he's done this 4 of the last 6 years!!!

You all realize his career OBP is low because he played two full seasons at age 21 and 22 while his OBP was below .300

Our lineup should be:

Coco

Dejesus

Gordon

Guillen

Jacobs

Butler

Alives

Olivo

Callypso

Royals Review Can you all just shut up!! Farnsworth will be better in KC than Ramirez in Boston

Bale and Yabuta get a combined 6 million but you all are bitching about paying Farnsworth 4 million???

Ramirez had an ERA of 9+ two  years ago and Nunez was hurt half the year but Farnsworth has had ERA's of 1, 2 (three times), 3 (two times) and four (four times) in his caree while striking out more than 1person per inning HIS WHOLE CAREER.

Watch the guy play well pitching close to home, in a pitchers park under a GM and pitching coach that gets the most out of its players.

the competition will make our bullpen better anyway

Royals Review Get a grip guys this deal was a steal. He is Teabag with Power

Leo Nunez sucked after he went on the DL. Trading him for a guy who hit 32 homeruns and had 93 RBI for a reliever with  8 walks, 12 strikeouts in 27 innings and a 3.95 ERA after being hurt for 2 months. Plus he is a DH not a first baseman.

Remember Bannister and Olivo were his forner teammates so he already knows people here.

Now we definitely will get a top of the line starter

Royals Review There is a fan shot on the Brewers page titled "We don't want Zach Greinke"

http://www.brewcrewball.com/2008/9/26/622616/we-do-not-want-zach-greink

But I would take Gallardo off their hands in a heart beat. Like I've been saying with the way Shealy has been playing I'm very happy going into spring training with Butler/Shealy/Kila splitting 3 positions

Butler should get atleast 550 at bats and Kila Shealy could both reach 400 as long as one of them pinch hits every single game

It's pretty funny. Like we would give up a top 10 MLB pitcher next year. Here is our rotation

Greinke = sub 3.00 ERA

Meche = 3.50 ERA

Free agent Royal to be  = sub 4.00 ERA

Davies = sub 4.00 ERA

Hochevar = 4 ERA

Bannister = death in offseason

Royals Review All we need is a legit starter and an outfielder with power

I say bring back Raul Ibanez or even Rocco Baldelli....guys like Jim edmonts, delgado, manny, giambi are all older than Ibanez.  Baldelli could have a big year

I think oliver perez (although I like the mets so wouldn't want that), but kyle lohse or even odalis perez would be good options...Bannister needs to die. We can ony have one inconsistent awful picther and atleast Hochevar has upside. Davies is a solid back end guy.

We simply need someone solid to anchor between Greinke and Meche to Davies Hochevar

Royals Review Why is Kila not in KC?

He has 5 homeruns in 9 games and is batting .400.  He can definitely hit homeruns in the majors. Aviles and Butler have been our two best hitters lately. They both tore up Omaha but what Kila is doing right now is even more impressive

Gathright couldn't even get a hit in 5 at bats but is batting .250 in KC. He

 it's time. We need him and he can start at first base or even DH
