Rays-Red Sox fan fight brings arrest

Norton ran up behind Ritter and "sucker punched" him in the back of the head, police said. Ritter fell forward on the concrete ramp, according to witnesses. He struck his head on the pavement and suffered a concussion and serious head injuries, police said. He went to the hospital and was later released.

If there's a lesson to be learned, its if you attack a fan at a game, everyone gets to find out things like this:

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies arrested Norton Friday morning at his home, 8102 Sheldon Road in Tampa.

You can see the charge report here. I have a feeling his neighbors (and probably his boss) are going to make his life wicked hard.

The stolen base. Advancing from first to second puts the runner in scoring position, but he — and the rest of your hitters — will have a hard time scoring if he gets thrown out. Mr. Kraemer looked at a recent team that ran wild (the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays) and one that barely stole at all (the 2005 Oakland A’s) and switched their mind-sets to see what happened. The A’s scored 20 runs fewer, which probably says more about their players’ inability to run in the first place. But when the speedy Rays stole sparingly, they increased their scoring by 47 runs per season — suggesting that perhaps the Rays were running too often in real life.

The Rays announced that single-game ticket sales will start Feb. 27 online at raysbaseball.com and Feb. 28 at their usual outlets.

However, there will be two different pre-sale opportunities. On Feb. 25, full and partial season-ticket holders will have the chance to buy up to four additional tickets per game. And on Feb. 26, fans who registered (or register by Feb. 23) on raysbaseball.com to be a Rays Insider will be allowed to buy tickets online.

It can only be taken as a good sign that the team now feels the need to limit the amount of tickets that can be purchased by season-ticket holders.

Questions for DirecTV/Fios/Knology viewers

I am currently a Brighthouse Cable customer, and was considering making the switch to one of the mentioned providers. Last season, I got every game, with the exception of about 4-5 games. The reason I am considering siwtiching isn't so much for the Rays, as I'm covered, but for better out-of-market coverage. My questions are as follows:

1. What provider do you use?

2. Approximately how many Rays games are you able to get (please note that if you are in another state your answers may not be very helpful due to blackout laws)?

3. Of the Rays games you get, approximately how many are in HD (Brighthouse was about 50 on the season)?

4. For those of you who get the sports pack, are any of the out-of-market baseball games blacked out, and if so, how often?

5. MLB network is in HD on Brighthouse. Is it the same for your provider?

6. Id the Extra Innings package available in HD (for BrightHouse I don't believe it is)?

7. Would you recommend the switch to someone who needs the ability to see every Rays game?
