A Colt fan living in Kentucky. I became a fan in 1994 with the Colts selection of Marshall Faulk in the draft. Up until that point I was not much of an NFL fan, but a college football freak. I was a huge fan of his at San Diego State and decided to follow him as a pro. I spent an entire summer job paycheck on an authentic Faulk jersey in the home blue that year. Despite the trade to the Rams, he will always be my all-time favorite Colt. I remember loving the Bill Tobin era and then hating it not long after. Allowing Ray Buchanon to leave and signing Carlton Gray shortly after still boggles my mind. Other than the obvious ones, my favorite Colt memory was fourth-down stand right before half-time against the Steve Young led 49ers in 1995. Seeing Jason Belser bowling his helmet on the field is still vivid in my mind, Not quite as vivid as that rainy night in Miami.

Stampede Blue 2010: Going Forward, an over-reaction to an emotional loss

SuperBowl is now behind us, its time to move on. The combine is just a few short weeks away, possible Free Agency, and other decisions need to be made to get the Colts to Dallas next February.  Finding a LT so that Charlie can replace Diem at RT is on most of our minds.  Don't know if they find that guy without trading up. Other spots can however be addressed. Plain and simple, this team the way its currently constructed requires great depth at these positions.

1.  SAFETY-The uncapped year will be a short-term help to the Colts.  Bethea's true value to the organization was unveiled this entire season with Bob's injuries.  Regardless of whether he's restricted or a UFA, they need to re-sign him.  They need he, Bob, and Bullitt at the minimum with the weight that's placed on this position.  With Bob's body, I think a fourth guy is needed.

2.  D-LINE-  Its a luxury, but after Freeney's ankle and the sights of '07 without him, a third guy that can get heat on the QB would be helpful.  I love Raheem Brock as the #3 end, but as a fourth guy I wish Dawson was more of a threat.  More than that though the time is now to get a 3technique to put pressure up the middle and disrupt inside out.  That to me is why Drew Brees was able to so successful against them. He stepped up in the pocket, nothing disrupted him and he is 6-0 feet tall. The draft seems to be loaded with edge guys who could be better than Dawson in the middle rounds and the first round is the time to finally strike on a DT.  Either trade up for Brian Price, hope Jared Odrick makes it to 31, or trade down in early second and draft Lamar Houston.  Gut feeling, I think the Colts will go DE in round one.

3. CB-  As with safety, the attrition rate on these guys is really high.  With the tackling required in this defense they need lots of bodies.  I am OK with Jennings if he is the 4th CB, which was not the case most of this year.  He is a good gunner, a good tackler, but not the greatest playmaker in coverage.  One more guy is needed to prevent Jennings from being the nickel back.  Would also like to see Jackson back if the price is right.

4. KR/PR-  Depth here isn't the issue.  Quality is!  Rushing really doesn't serve a purpose other than to fair catch. I don't understand using a roster spot on a return guy if he doesn't supply you with both the punt and kickoff duties. I actually like Simpson on the roster as a reserve RB and BACKUP KR.  He gave the team a lift at times this season when needed, NE  game comes to mind.  Ideally whoever the #5 WR or 4th/5th/6th CB (if its not Jennings) would be ideal to take this spot.

That's my view, what about the rest of StampedeBlue? Go Horse!
