Hi Peeps,

I've got an extra ticket for Saturday's game vs. The Padres. (I guess Zito's pitching for the Giants.) If you'd like to come, speak up! You'll be sitting with Natto, Mrs. Goofus and me in our Lower Box seats behind home. No charge for the ticket, but if you'd like to buy me a dog, I won't object.

Please be an active member of this community and not someone who's just trying to vulture a ticket.

Japan and USA are tied 0-0 in the 11th

USA just got a base hit that scored a run because of the goofy start the inning with two men on rule.

Now Nate just singled to score another run. US up 2-0 in the top of the 11th. Japan will get their turn to start the bottom of the 11th with men on 1st and 2nd

It's on MSNBC. anyone else watching this?

3rd Annual McC Night at the Yard: Tuesday 8/19

The date is set, and I know it won't work for everyone, but there's no date that will. Sorry.

We'll be attending the 7:15 game vs. Florida. TK, Grant, The Mayor of 311 and myself will be sitting in my seats. The Mayor is once again making his two seats available. If you're interested in buying them ($26 each), write to him at RPMatth at aol dot com

Everyone is encouraged to get tickets and go to this damn game. (The nice thing about a Tuesday night game against the Marlins is that tickets won't be too difficult to find.) Use this thread to find others who might be interested in going with you so you can sit together.

Even if you can't make the game, you're encouraged to attend the pre-game libations at Zeke's (3rd and Brannan.) We'll meet up there about an 6:00pm.

As the title suggests, this will be our 3rd year doing this. Last year we had about 10 people show up at Zeke's and it was unanimous; meeting Grant was a letdown but meeting me was the highlight of everyone's life. (Grant was hoping for more female groupies, and the ones who did show up didn't even ask to have their breasts autographed.)

So there ya go. Any questions?

I was inspired by Unleashthegore's post regarding seattle to do the same thing for Phoenix since he got so many great answers. Mrs. Goofus is already there on business, so Goofus Jr and I are leaving to join her tomorrow afternoon.

We'll be going to a D-backs game Friday night and doing an overnight trip to see the Grand Canyon.

Anyone have any tips for things to see/do in Phoenix or at the ballpark specifically? I've been there twice before on business, but was too busy to do anything fun.

Fred Lewis Makes The All-Ugly Team

I'm guessing some of you have already seen this. (Unless it was a Fan Post by Howie, in which case no one would have read it.) We've had fun with this topic before, but what the hell:

It's important to note that these are all current players. Bartolo Colon is a great call. Their description of what "Andre the Giant" would look like if he had't grown is pretty good. (I've always thought he looked a shaved ape.)

A big surprise, Freddie Lewis made the team. Might be a tad unfair since ,other than the bad complexion, he's pretty ok looking if you ask me. He certainly has a better physique than most ballplayers. The "bear trap" comment was cruel but pretty damn funny.

Questions abound:

What deserving players did they miss?
Did somes players make it based on their reputation?
Should fans be allowed to choose the All-Ugly starters?
Should a player be chosen for their current ugliness or what their ugliness over the course of their career?
