Stan Van Gundy, Otis Smith out
Stan Van Gundy is avail, can we jump on this? So many great coaches are out there: Phil, Sloan, Nate, Mike. Hard to choose, but can we go wrong with any of them? (Mike is great, but by far my last choice).
SVG would be great here, but that means we'd never get Dwight. Which is fine, it's almost impossible that happens anyway.
Vinny Del Negro rips Bulls
Pretty candid, but brief interview. VDN sounds like an asshole here, even though I'm not fan of John Paxson either.
Guess VDN thinks one playoff series gets him off the hook. Please fire this dolt in the offseason.
Butler Hopes To Return Against Memphis
I thought the 4-6 weeks announcement was a little sudden, I was hoping for something like that Ron Artest injury a season or two ago where he broke his hand or wrist or something and was back in like two weeks.
Also, maybe this shows we've turned another corner as a franchise. Instead of giving short time tables to string us along, like the Blake Knee Cap, maybe they've learned that overestimating injuries is better than underestimating them and thus shattering expectations...
Olshey Never Considered Firing Del Negro
One miraculous come back and everything is forgiven? Doubt the veracity of this story, but wanted to post anyway.
All Flash, Clippers Are Easy To Hate
Articles like this REALLY show how far we've come. People don't ignore us anymore; they actively hate us. Progress!(?)
Weak article, but I just find the comments section funny. Apparently, we are one of the League's "annointed" teams, so the NBA wants us to win. Again, progress!(?)
Overall weak article, but good for a laugh.
Clippers Marching On From Trying Times
"You should also know, for the record, that veteran forwards Kenyon Martin and Reggie Evans summoned me at the morning shootaround for a three-man summit to strenuously deny the idea raised in the Weekend Dime that they're in any way at odds. Both were adamant that anyone suggesting otherwise was simply looking for scapegoats after a rocky March."
Stein himself is "anyone suggesting otherwise". Love how he doesn't take responsibility for making it up.
Blake for Love?
This Blake for Dwight trade talk has me thinking. And I want to raise the subject because, curiously, these guys are always compared but no one discusses swapping them.
I'm by no means a Kevin Love fan. I know he puts up amazing, spit out your drink numbers, but I think he's arrogant and douchey. Not to mention he seems to be a stat stuffer who can't help his team win (or at least win consistently).
But I want to put this out here for discussion's sake.
Would Clipper Nation consider trading Blake for Kevin Love (assuming Dwight is off the table).
I'm simply basing this entire idea on the fact that Love can shoot (and that's an understatement). CP3 worked best with David West (that rhymes) because of the Pick and Pop.
Love played at UCLA. I don't think he'd hate it here.
I just can't help but think that Love might fit with CP3 better. Of course, Blake could add the Amar'e jumper and we'd be fine anyway.
***Dammit DTS, do you see the things people start talking about when you go 8-12??? Get a good coach so I can stop contemplating endless permutations.***
It's 2:35 pm and NOTHING has happened.
I've been checking my Twitter feed all day long. VDN is still the coach as far as I know. Today would be the day for something to happen, I guess nothing will.
I get that changing coaches w/ something like 19 games left isn't really feasible, but can we do any worse than we currently are? I don't think so.
I believe in Neil, but DTS is the wildcard. Maybe he really DOESN'T want to pay 2 coaches for 19 games...
I'm really gonna be upset if CP3 leaves for ORL in 2013. Maybe trading Blake and DJ at the next deadline for Dwight will be our only shot at staying relevant. But then we run the risk of BOTH bolting as UFAs, but maybe they wouldn't.
Ugh. Fire Vinny already. What is the freaking hold-up???
Pierce Offered To Blazers By Celtics
Was wondering when the BOS rumors would heat up. So the Big 3 is most definitely on shaky ground. If we can't get Ray Allen, Paul Pierce can definitely play the 2...
Bled/Foye/Cook/Gomes?
Sources: Howard To Play Final Option Year With Magic
Whoa. Game changer.
D'Antoni Out As Coach Of Knicks
This is ridiculous. D'Antoni MADE Jeremy Lin. Oh well. I still say we'd be trading up if we get him over VDN. PHX's D was always under-rated, and besides, both our offense AND our defense sucks.
CP3 and Blake are dream fits for SSOL.
Sloan Would Be Interested In New York Job
This sucks. If the Knicks are willing/able to fire D'Antoni and replace him w/ Sloan (or even Phil) mid-season, why the hell can't we do the same thing?
We need Jerry Sloan way more than we need Jamal Crawford or Raja Bell.
Magic In Talks With Wolves On Jason Richardson
Obviously, the Wolves still think they can make the playoffs sans Rubio. And maybe they're right.
Shouldn't we be talking about J-Rich? He's more or less the same as Crawford and is contract isn't crazy.
Mike Dunleavy to take active role in Hornets front office
Very interesting. In that case, Kaman and Gordon aren't going anywhere as the article suggests.
If healthy, those are two solid pieces for a team. But they're never healthy (and Kaman will never be able to catch).
Hope it works out for MDSr.
Jamal Crawford mentioned as being available in trades
We're directly mentioned in this piece by Sam Amick (SI). What would POR ask for? Would Randy's expiring be enough?
Jamal would be a sick fit. We only need him to do one thing: score. And that's what he does. He's 6'5'', right? Decent size at the 2.
A source said Odom has backed off his desire of wanting the Mavs to buy him out of his contract so he can return to Los Angeles and play for the Clippers
This was buried in this SheridanHoops rumor page.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ray Allen reportedly drawing interest from Clippers; Paul Pierce from Clippers, Lakers, Rockets
Any feasible way for us to get the Celtics starting wings?
Bledsoe, Foye, Cook, Butler? Caron and Rondo would at least be two pieces to help them stay competitive as they rebuild.
Too bad we don't have any First Rounders to trade...
Clippers Wouldn't Trade Griffin For Howard
For what it's worth.
Source: Rasheed Wallace to sign with Lakers
Damn. Great move.
Oh, wait. It's NOT 2004.
Landry Fields via Trade Exception.
JR Smith is an idiot, the sky is blue, and grass is green. Maybe someone can do the exact math, but Smith is signing for something like 2m. We could've offered him 1.3m. Maybe it's less because of pro-rating, but whatever. It's still a mistake.
If Baron comes back healthy and the Knicks keep him, seriously why wouldn't they, their guard corps will be Jeremy Lin, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Bill Walker, and Landry Fields.
The Knicks have to dump a player to make a roster spot available for Smith. Landry Fields will fit in nicely with one of our trade exceptions.
Thoughts? He's not a clear upgrade over Foye, but at least he has size.
Karl Malone has some things to say about Jazz management, would like to be an assistant coach under Jerry Sloan
It would be incredible to get Jerry Sloan as our next head coach. Nash-Griffin are literally improved versions of Stockton and Malone.
And wouldn't it be something to have Karl Malone tutoring Blake? Like Pat Ewing and Dwight and to some degree Kareem and Bynum (although I doubt that's really paid off too much).
Buying Out Kaman
It seems to me that unless NOH lowers its demands, they won't be able to trade Kaman. 14m is a lot, even when it's expiring, so I don't think Kaman will be dumped as easily as he might have been in the past.
This raises an interesting question. I know we can't trade for Kaman again even if we wanted to (which we don't), but if he's bought out, won't he be eligible to sign here as a Free Agent?
Granted, if BOS comes calling and offers a starting position, I don't see how Kaman goes anywhere besides Beantown, but wouldn't it be a good move to kick the tires here? Kaman on the Vet's Min coming off the bench would help us tremendously.
More realistically, I think Kenyon Martin and JR Smith would be all we need.
After faking an injury, is anyone willing to agree with me that JR Smith's wacky sister is acting a fool on purpose to help her brother get kicked out of the CBA?
That's love right there.
Kevin Love Agrees To Four-Year, $60M Extension
This is the genius of David Kahn and Glenn Taylor. Refuse to offer your franchise player and Top 5 Power Forward a five year deal. Watch as he agrees to take a four year deal ONLY with an opt-out after Year Three.
Can anyone say LeBron James or Chris Bosh?
And what would people say if DTS did this to Blake (which he definitely won't).
Inexplicable move.
12:45pm I bumped this to the front page because this is a long and enduring argument. Look here. Here and here. - Raffo
Report: Magic Inquire About Howard For Stoudemire, Chandler Trade
One of my (admittedly unoriginal) trade ideas seems to be in discussion. Great move for both teams.
My new CBA knowledge is nowhere near strong enough yet (maybe a good idea for a post would be a Compare and Contrast of the old CBA and the new one?), but won't New York have enough space to sign D-Will next season?
I sincerely hope Dwight goes to either the Knicks or Nets. I don't want him in the WC, and worse, I don't want to be tempted into weighing the ups and downs of trading Blake for him.
I want Blake to be a Clipper for life, but I'd be lying if I side the idea of Blake and DJ for Dwight/Redick/Anderson isn't tempting in the very least.
@DanteParman"@DwightHoward the clippers really? Idk why you can't just campaign Deron Williams to Orlando and go out as a hero instead of a punk"
@DwightHoward:"@danteparman love how everything y'all see y'all believe. If it ain't from the horse don't believe it. But God bless u"
Exclusive: Clippers now on Dwight Howard’s wish list
Dwight Howard thinks more highly of the Clippers than Sheridan does.
If this is the case, why don't we amnesty Mo, let Foye walk, and cut another piece or two and sign Dwight as a FA?
DJ can back him up.
Not five, not six, not seven, not eight...
Mike D'Antoni, anyone?
We've just seen the first head roll regarding the NBA's ever-changing Coaching Carousel and it's hard to argue Mike D'Antoni looks to be on the outs in New York.
I think it's really strange that he's getting so much heat; it's not his fault. Dolan (and Glenn Grunwald is it now?) have totally shifted the direction of the team without the consent of its head coach.
Let's get this straight. Mike D'Antoni is a GOOD coach. His system is GOOD. I don't like how people say Seven Seconds or Less will never win a championship. Those Suns teams were dealt raw hands in crucial times: the Joe Johnson concussion against DAL, the suspensions of Amar'e and Diaw against SAS, Steve Nash's bloody nose that just wouldn't quit (again) against SAS, and finally Tim Duncan banking in a lucky three that would've given the Nash-Shaq Suns home court (yet again) against SAS.
It's ludicrous that D'Antoni, whose system relies on a PG, has been asked to use Chris Duhon, then Toney Douglas, now rookiee Iman Shumpert as his starting PG.
What a waste.
And I am STILL laughing at Mike Woodson being brought in as the "Defensive Coordinator". Pardon me, but what about ANYTHING in his six years in ATL shows the man knows defense?
Now regarding LAC. I suppose VDN deserves one more year, but please understand, this guy sucks.
What does Clips Nation think about going after Mike D'Antoni in the off-season? CP3-Blake has the potential to smoke Nash-Amar'e.
The wild card here is DeAndre Jordan. D'Antoni has NEVER had a defensive minded center that can run and gun with his system. DJ meshes perfectly.
It should also be noted the D'Antoni/Nash Suns were never Warrior-esque on D. They weren't lock-down by any means, but they played decent defense.
Adequate defense, a POWERHOUSE offense like we're currently seeing (hello six turnovers last night), and two of the best competitors in the game in Blake and CP3 SHOULD be able to win a chip.
There is no team like the Spurs standing in our way, either. The West is wide open and looks to be for the next couple of years.
I say make the move.
Heisler: Lakers and Clippers will Battle for Blake in 2014
What a mess of an article. I don't even know why I check SheridanHoops considering its two biggest names were canned from their last gigs.
Heisler's entire (unsubstantive) "article" ignores a pretty big fact: 2014 means nothing for Blake and the Lakers. He's going to be restricted...
Secondly, it ends with Heisler suddenlly attacking our poor rebounding. Yes, somehow weak rebounding four games into a Lock-Out shortened season with a key rotation player who does ONLY that out hurt spells doom for this franchise.
I don't get it. When will these articles stop? The closer to Blake's RFA status when "reporters" can't easily ignore the fact an offer sheet will be matched?
Weak.
