JR Smith is an idiot, the sky is blue, and grass is green. Maybe someone can do the exact math, but Smith is signing for something like 2m. We could've offered him 1.3m. Maybe it's less because...
It would be incredible to get Jerry Sloan as our next head coach. Nash-Griffin are literally improved versions of Stockton and Malone. And wouldn't it be something to have Karl Malone tutoring Blake? Like Pat Ewing and Dwight and to some degree Kareem and Bynum (although I doubt that's really paid off too much).
It seems to me that unless NOH lowers its demands, they won't be able to trade Kaman. 14m is a lot, even when it's expiring, so I don't think Kaman will be dumped as easily as he might have been...
This is the genius of David Kahn and Glenn Taylor. Refuse to offer your franchise player and Top 5 Power Forward a five year deal. Watch as he agrees to take a four year deal ONLY with an opt-out after Year Three. Can anyone say LeBron James or Chris Bosh? And what would people say if DTS did this to Blake (which he definitely won't). Inexplicable move. 12:45pm I bumped this to the front page because this is a long and enduring argument. Look here. Here and here. - Raffo
One of my (admittedly unoriginal) trade ideas seems to be in discussion. Great move for both teams. My new CBA knowledge is nowhere near strong enough yet (maybe a good idea for a post would be a Compare and Contrast of the old CBA and the new one?), but won't New York have enough space to sign D-Will next season? I sincerely hope Dwight goes to either the Knicks or Nets. I don't want him in the WC, and worse, I don't want to be tempted into weighing the ups and downs of trading Blake for him. I want Blake to be a Clipper for life, but I'd be lying if I side the idea of Blake and DJ for Dwight/Redick/Anderson isn't tempting in the very least.
Dwight Howard thinks more highly of the Clippers than Sheridan does. If this is the case, why don't we amnesty Mo, let Foye walk, and cut another piece or two and sign Dwight as a FA? DJ can back him up. Not five, not six, not seven, not eight...
We've just seen the first head roll regarding the NBA's ever-changing Coaching Carousel and it's hard to argue Mike D'Antoni looks to be on the outs in New York.I think it's really strange that...
What a mess of an article. I don't even know why I check SheridanHoops considering its two biggest names were canned from their last gigs. Heisler's entire (unsubstantive) "article" ignores a pretty big fact: 2014 means nothing for Blake and the Lakers. He's going to be restricted... Secondly, it ends with Heisler suddenlly attacking our poor rebounding. Yes, somehow weak rebounding four games into a Lock-Out shortened season with a key rotation player who does ONLY that out hurt spells doom for this franchise. I don't get it. When will these articles stop? The closer to Blake's RFA status when "reporters" can't easily ignore the fact an offer sheet will be matched? Weak.
Even Laker-lover Plaschke seems to be coming around...
For months, if not years, the tagline to ClipsNation's "sister site" was "Silver Screen and Roll - A blog devoted to Lakers News, Commentary, and Basketball Analysis (even the Clippers)".As of two...
I wanted to get the Nation's opinion on this. Last night, in the closing minutes of the game, the Lakers were closing the gap. I have to say:I didn't feel nervous about coughing up the W.AT ALL. T...
@daldridgetnt is reporting that a former NBA head coach reached out to the Clippers immediately after the CP3 trade #circlinglikevultures (Anyone know who it is? Please be Jerry Sloan...)
iamagm.comCHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! ...
Another problem with CP3-Clippers scenario: LAC has, at best, a 2-year commitment from him. Those are a lot of assets to give up.
Ken Berger's Twitter feed.Clips "have not, and will not" give up Gordon in a trade for Chris Paul, source says.
Ken Berger's Twitter FeedConveniently left out of the title, and buried in the article, are these little nuggets: "The Lakers are not the only team in Los Angeles that's thinking big. Sources say the Clippers also have intentions to go after both Howard and Paul. And like the Lakers, the Clippers are positioned -- financially and talent-wise to make such a move. Unlike the Lakers, the Clippers would not have to make two trades. They could use their wealth of young talent to trade for either Paul or Howard and then sign the other as a free agent next summer when they'll have enough cap room to offer a maximum-salary contract. The one player the Clippers will not offer in a trade is Blake Griffin. "The Lakers have company (in going after Howard and Paul)," another Western Conference official said. "The Clippers are doing the same thing."" TRADE EVERYONE NOT NAMED BLAKE! DO IT NEIL!
This was obvious from the minute the trade was made. Silly, arrogant Russians. Can't we make the same offer for D-Will that we will for CP3? I personally trust Deron's health way more than CP3's...
But the Clippers have a recipe for a dynasty here with our tremendous cap space and plethora of young assets. We are in the same position that BOS was in 2007. Neil has the opportunity to...
Just wanted to say really looking forward to discussing basketball with you guys again. I tried sticking it out as best I could, but I feel like a lot of us were dropping like flies.Posted a Fan...
Why ORL? Dwight is gone. This should make Michael White very happy.
I have to believe the only reason Baron is saying he doesn't want to go to the Heat is because the Cavaliers have told him they will only Amnesty him if he SWEARS not to sign with MIA. A part of me also loves the idea of the Lakers getting a CLIPPER reject for once (instead of the other way around and not counting Josh Powell). I doubt the Lakers show interest. Their PG needs to work off the ball, Baron is useless in the capacity as he can't shoot.
I Tweeted Pincus my three team Nash Trade (see Fan Post above) and he basically told me I don't know how the NBA works because it involved too many moving parts. Weird. I disagree with him. I find his LAC/Nash scenarios way less likely, but dammit if I'm not excited about his Kaman/Aminu/Mo for Nash/Lopez/Pietrus idea. That'd be sick.
Seems Stern and the owners cancelled the first 2 weeks as a last bluff against the players. Neither side seems serious about missing games. Good news, but Stern and the owners are still scumbags.
Anyone who follows Steve Nash on Twitter will see his recent tweets have been pretty damn candid. It boggles the mind the players have waited this long to say something.Fisher/Hunter's Tweet...
I don't know how I missed this, somebody explain what "How u" means. From what I gathered, the players wore it on their shirts or something during one of the earlier sessions? Everyone keeps...
If this gets done, that leaves 2 weeks to get the deal finalized and installed. How is the league planning to fit Free Agency into 7 days?
My eyes bugged out of my head at this quote: "The HEAT would not, of course be the automatic landing spot for potential amnesty players. New York, Chicago, and both Los Angeles teams would certainly be of interest to players looking to compete for a championship." BOTH Los Angeles teams? Yay!
I cancelled Time Warner like 6 months ago, and I really don't want to restart it (although I can't miss the LAC broadcasts). I have an AppleTV and it comes with an NBA Game Time app....
