Brett Favre has Signed With the Minnesota Twins!
MINNEAPOLIS, MN- In an effort to make up for the couple of weeks of training camp he has missed this year, Brett Favre has agreed to pitch for the Minnesota Twins. Twins General Manager, Bill Smith, said that they have been trying to convince Favre to pitch for them since spring training when Joe Nathan was injured. "Who better to fill Nathan's spot than an NFL legend in Brett Favre?" Smith said, "He just has an arm for the bullpen. Who hasn't seen him rocket a pass between two defenders to score the winning touchdown? That is the type of arm we need in our bullpen." Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire was as excited as Smith was with the Favre signing. "I've been waiting for years for someone with more grit and giddy-up than (Nick) Punto to show up and here he is!" said Gardenhire, "I am really looking forward to seeing what Favre can do for us. He has such a live arm for his age and can really zip it in there."
When Favre was asked to comment about his recent signing with the Twins, he said that a trip by current Twins players Jim Thome, Carl Pavano, and Nick Punto sealed the deal. "Carl said I had the facial hair to be a pitcher, and coming from him that is quite the compliment," said Favre. "Jimmy kept saying that we could go out to pasture and shoot us some deer in celebration to a World Series title, how could i pass that up? Deer hunting with Jim freaking Thome!" Favre did also comment on how Nick Punto promised to repeat "I love you man" over and over until he signed with the Twins. Favre also commented how his completion percentage will go up with Joe Mauer catching daily, and how his interceptions will drastically decrease. When asked whether this will be his only season with the Twins, Favre replied with a sly smile, "We'll see how this season goes. Let's see how I feel at the end of the season and we'll go from there." Favre will be wearing his familiar number 4 when he joins up with the rest of the Twins tonight in Texas.
To make room on the 40 man roster, the Twins announced that they have moved relief pitcher Jose Mijares from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list, allowing Mijares more time to eat a Bert Burger at his local Wendy's.
(note: this article is satire. Brett Favre is too busy with the Vikings to play for the Twins.)
