July 2 signing: #Rangers sign Venezuelan SS Luis Sardinas. No word on bonus, but believed to be over $1 million

BA had him ranked as the second best shortstop behind VZ Vinicio who signed with Boston for 2mill. Sardinas will count as the Rangers' priciest J2 sign ever. That should leave at least one more decent sign in the 400-700 and a couple/three more 100k-ish signs. Just a "gut" feeling.

Neil Ramirez has finally decided to make an appearance this season as he has been reassigned from extended to Hickory. He might get the start tonight as the probable starter is currently TBD. In a correlative move, Glenn Swanson has been promoted to HighA. No word on who in the Blaze's stellar bullpen is getting the well-deserved promotion to AA.

Angels set weekend rotation

Aledo resident John Lackey is scheduled to make his 2009 season debut Saturday in a three-game series between the Rangers and the Angels. Joe Saunders will pitch the opener Friday, and Jered Weaver will go Sunday.

Lackey threw 80 pitches over five innings Sunday in his second rehab start and said he has moved past a strained right forearm that has cost the Angels' ace the first six weeks of the season.

Kevin Millwood will pitch against Lackey, followed by Vicente Padilla and Scott Feldman.
